I nominate myself because I haven't taken notice of anyone else's English in these forums. Saved_by_Jesus 18-02-2002, 09:51:PM I do not think "Urrrrrrgggghhhh" is a word. So therefore, I nominate myself. hermolt 19-02-2002, 12:04:AM I thonk my ENglisj is thw bestest. ytwoaone 19-02-2002, 12:18:AM My Englisch ist better, zo there. Gareth 19-02-2002, 12:26:AM I feel that I have the best English in these forums. Mainly because I don't use slang (or abbreviations) such as "u" and "b4", which are simply not correct grammer. I think everyone should think before they type and but some thought into their posts, but not only presenting themselves in a conductable manner but also using correct grammer and spelling. These will make the forums much more professional. BTW me fail english thats umpossible hermolt 19-02-2002, 12:31:AM Originally posted by Gareth I feel that I have the best English in these forums. I am sorry, Gareth, but I don't think using abbreviations means you write poor english. I tend to look to the way you organize your thoughts and what words you choose to describe them. In the top of my list is jackbooda. By far. Btw, I think Juventus_theres_next_year just starts this kind of threads to nominate himself!! INFESTA 19-02-2002, 01:13:AM Sorry, my bad! The person who writes the best english around here is ukranian_shev!!! mns 19-02-2002, 01:40:AM hmmm, I know how to speak english but I'm not so good at writing, ando sometimes I write in a hurry and I don't check my writings. So me be speacing Inglish very nice and best. Catalinc7 19-02-2002, 02:25:AM NO ONE! mhflierman 19-02-2002, 02:30:AM obviously this isn't a fair competition. there are quite a lot of people who are from english-speaking countries, so they probably will always write better english because they simply know more words and sayings in english. It's a bit like asking "who writes the best dutch on these forums" ZePenguin and me would easily win that contest. For the foreigners I think that Infesta, ZePenguin and I myself are quite good english writers, obviously there are many more but these are just a few names that I see quite often. ytwoaone 19-02-2002, 03:26:AM Originally posted by mhflierman obviously this isn't a fair competition. there are quite a lot of people who are from english-speaking countries, so they probably will always write better english because they simply know more words and sayings in english. Of course not all foreigners speak English perfectly. Ubik Valis 19-02-2002, 09:14:AM Thanks KADER....yeah....i'd say i have pretty good English "lingo abilities" :p considering the fact that i'm a foreighner, but INFESTA seems to be better then me.........i mean......i've even seen him use words longer then 8 letters! :crazyboy: :D ;) INFESTA 19-02-2002, 03:32:PM Originally posted by Dragan T but INFESTA seems to be better then me.........i mean......i've even seen him use words longer then 8 letters! Yeah, like shiiiiiit. :D Joe 19-02-2002, 03:57:PM I try to keep my typing as "professional" as possible. I rarely use Internet slang to type, but sometimes I have so much on my mind, I don't care about grammar. Here's a clip of an article that was in today's Saint Paul Pioneer Press: The future of the Internet isn't just commercial or technical, It's linguistic, too. . . [Dr. David Crystal's book] is an analysis of how discourse is evolving on the Internet in its sometimes rambunctious forms of email, Web pages, chat rooms and virtual reality games. Crystal's conclusion? The Internet is not going to spawn a generation of illiterates, as a cursory look at any undergraduate's email might suggest. On the contrary, it is devoloping into a splendid new medium that shows language users at their most inventive, adapting a variety of styles for a variety of purposes, some formal, some highly informal. 'Internet spawns a new species of communication' By Anne Eisenberg New York Times News Service (I can't find this article anywhere on the Internet, so if you'd like to read more please let me know.) Kids think it's "kool" to "wryte" with this type of internet slang, so no one will notice when they make spelling mistakes unintentionally. Sad, but true... ZePenguin 19-02-2002, 04:19:PM Originally posted by mhflierman obviously this isn't a fair competition. there are quite a lot of people who are from english-speaking countries, so they probably will always write better english because they simply know more words and sayings in english. For the foreigners I think that Infesta, ZePenguin and I myself are quite good english writers, obviously there are many more but these are just a few names that I see quite often. Yes you're right, it's not very fair, but i noticed on these forums that some foreigners talk english better than the majority of the english-talking people here...I think the reason is that english is a really easier language compared to other ones, personnally i'm french speaking, i talk also Dutch and a little bit Spanish, and English is by far the easiest language i can talk. I can tell its grammar is really simple compared to french or dutch (i think i would have big difficulties learning french if it wasn't my mother language, its grammar is really hard and i noticed it's still hard for some of my classmates who don't even know the french grammar well, the spelling is also quite hard...). Let's get back to my point, foreigners are talking a language that is more complex than english, talking about grammar and spelling, that's maybe why (imo) they learn english easier than any other language (well it's my case). IceBlu 19-02-2002, 04:19:PM i think i write the BEST !:D :crazyboy: seriously !;) Joe 19-02-2002, 04:28:PM But people say English has so many exceptions so it makes it hard to learn for foreigners. However in my studies of German, there are so many exceptions to that like "den, der, dem, zum, zur" when in English it would just be "the, to". So I believe that other languages are more difficult to learn compared to English.
