Yeah htm and html are the same. However you can get dhtml (god knows what that is) and shtml, which is what I use, cause you can use SSI.

dhtml is a script language which is a bit of html and javascript combined, it's not used as a file extension, it's used in simple html files with the <script> command (like javascript and all)

DHTML? Anybody please reply! What is SSI?

DHTML - make words fly in via script tags etc. makes page look fancy etc..

SHTML - incorporates SSI - Server Side Includes. This means that you can have a menu called menu.html and incorporate it into all your HTML via an Include tag. This means all your pages will have the same menu, without you having to update it every time on each page. Saves time etc.

There's no difference between .htm or .html. I prefer .htm because it's less typing, thus less chance of making errors.

I've passed the html stage and I'm now getting into php, which is, as referred to earlier on this topic, a Server Side Include language. You write a normal HTML page defining where pictures and links should be, but you place php scripts in the html page to load different things, or pulling data out of a database. The PHP parts in your HTML page are executed by the server instead of the user's browser, and the HTML is executed by the user's browser. That's also why see normal HTML codes when viewing a php page's source.
