Rich Teams, read no further.
But if you are managing a third division team that is strapped for funds, and you got stuck with a large number of third rate players you couldn't get rid of, and you don't mind playing some extra games, try home friendlies. Non-league teams in your country are looking for games and if you schedule them at home, then you get the gate receipts. ;) Besides, those extra players won't even dress for the regular games, so you might as well use them to generate SOME sort of income. It won't be much, but it might cover the cost of grounds maintenance! :D

Two considerations:
1- Don't worry about winning or losing, just play a lot of games!
2- Don't risk your first team star players, only play them if they need to stay in shape or become unhappy.

BTW, this may help youth training in leagues that do not have reserve squad games.

seeso, when you are looking at your squad, click on the blue box "Fixtures", then look to the right and click on the gray box "Arrange". Choose "Home friendly" and then choose an available date. Go through the list of teams (I prefer the non-league teams, they always accept) and pick a team to play. In the upper right hand corner, click on the white box "Invite". By the next day it should appear on your "News" screen whether they accepted or not.

BTW, these friendlies also help the morale of my lesser players, they also have "Superb" or "Very Good" attitudes, because they are getting to play!
