Rich Teams, read no further.
But if you are managing a third division team that is strapped for funds, and you got stuck with a large number of third rate players you couldn't get rid of, and you don't mind playing some extra games, try home friendlies. Non-league teams in your country are looking for games and if you schedule them at home, then you get the gate receipts. ;) Besides, those extra players won't even dress for the regular games, so you might as well use them to generate SOME sort of income. It won't be much, but it might cover the cost of grounds maintenance! :D
Two considerations:
1- Don't worry about winning or losing, just play a lot of games!
2- Don't risk your first team star players, only play them if they need to stay in shape or become unhappy.
BTW, this may help youth training in leagues that do not have reserve squad games.
