So, everything is hooked up to the Cable Modem>Router>This computer and my computer (upstairs). This computers connection works. However, my connection does not work - however, it comes up as an "active" connection (it's trying to send and receive data and has time logged and everything).

We've come to the conclusion it's the router, or something about it. Because my broadband connection works when the cable is connected from my computer directly to the cable modem.........

errm your cabling sounds off

you connected the same wires that u connected to your router to your pc

so you have

PC-----PC and it works. That suggest a X-over cable. You dont connected a X-over cable to a router. do you? isnt it a regular cat5 RJ45

I might be off ... way off
