View Full Version : Textureless Kits?
I have been thinking about this for a while now. I really dont think textures on kits are neccasary. I was watchiing Leeds Vs Blackburn (GO THE WHITES!!) last night, and i noticed most players shirts alot of the time, had little or no wrinkles in them at all.
Now I know most of u wont agree, but I tried a textureless kit in FIFA, and it wasnt that bad. There was still a slight texture pattern very similar to EA's default ones(because of course ea's are made especially for these models), but there wasnt a largely visible one.
Anyway the point is I think this is what we should do, but i know noone will agree, partly because it doesnt look as good outside the game. And kit makers love there kits looking good outside the game, because thats how they get downloads and popularity. V-9's kits, yes they look awesome outside the game, but anyway that has seen them in the game knows that yes they are good, but they arent really any better then other kit makers out there. Especially when he uses NHL textures..
Anyway thats all
Cheers

maybe textureless kits would look good for kits like Italy national , Roma etc...(the one with tight fits).......

You know what Skip. I am sick and tire of you and GH02 singling me out everytime you guys mentioned anything about textures or kits. Liam asked me for some pointers on his kits and you and GH02 goes on slagging me on how my hjfrs files are to show off. I've never claimed to be the best kit maker. Yes, I do put a lot of details on my kit. If you don't and it looks good in the game, then kudos for you. I put alot of details on the kits not to show off how good my hjfrs files look on this forum but because I believe that they do look good in the game. If you don't believe me here are the same hjfr files I posted before on the default EA's textures since you claimed to say that all my hjfr files with NHL tex are for show. I don't want to sounds like I am fighting but I have better things to do than defending my works from people who seems to not like them for some reasons whether it is the textures or I put to much details on them.

the textures were in a separate file in fifa99 and the textureless kit bitmaps were mixed automatically with the texture in the game.
BClutter 19-03-2002, 02:53:AM hey V-9, do you have the USA kit in 2gk format?
strobe_z 19-03-2002, 04:29:AM V-9, Don't worry about them.... the right textures on the kits make a BIG difference and the time and energy put into them shows the quality.
I've seen many many crappy kits that someone slapped out in 10 minutes.... not worth the download time...
yeah, sorry V-9 for any offence, but in those screenshots, with EA default textures ur kits look so much better.
I just get frustrated that everyone says my kits textures suck, when inside the game they look as realistic as any.
Your kits are always designed really well, there is no denying that, but I just think people judge other peoples kits(im not saying u do this, u r more a vicitim of it) on the hjfr image too much. I didnt mean to make it look like i was slagging you, I was trying to make more of a point. You were the best example, because you are the most popular kit maker. I said that I think so many people download your kits based on the hjfr file. See those textures that i was experimenting with last week(the ones that were used for Number9's 'Photorealistic kits') really look great as the hjfr image but not in the game.
Anyway plz understand V-9 that I wasnt trying to put u down, i was just using u as an example, sorry if it caused any offence.

EDIT: actually here is a thread showing exactly what i meant, this time with my leeds kit, this kit looks pretty bad in the game, but everyone said they wanted to used the textures, and that they looked good. V-9 u rn't at fault, the community and the downloadERS are at fault.

emmer 19-03-2002, 02:54:PM i'd like to see some screenshots with textureless kits  :(
they dont look as good as EA standard textures which are what i have always used. I just thought maybe more people would support the kits if they werent standard, becos for some reason everyone seems to hate anything first-party
Im going to continue using EA like I always have.
