View Full Version : Ronaldo has never been a phenomenom
astolfo 12-12-1999, 04:29:AM I'm brazilian and I remember very well when Ronaldo played for Cruzeiro... he was just a good forward, but he has never been a phenomenon as he is called in Europe. Edmundo has always been far better than Ronaldo and in Brazil there are many guys much better than Ronaldo, like França, Guilherme, Ronaldinho, Alex, etc...
Neo_9 12-12-1999, 10:16:AM don't agee with u there..
steve-e-o 12-12-1999, 10:23:AM He's a tad overrated in my books, but it was unfair to blame him for the World Cup Final, he was knackered, & only played because of Nike's sponsorship.
xizor 12-12-1999, 01:06:PM totally agree with u there astolfo.
btw is edmundo is jail now or something ??
Game Rod 12-12-1999, 02:37:PM I think Ronaldo is a great player, he's got a good resistance thanks to his physical strength, and an excellent dribling too.
And I believe you, astolfo, when you say that there are better players than Ronaldo in Brazil. It's just a pitty that most of good Brazilian players go away.
That must be bad for the Brazilian championship, no?
DaSerf2000 12-12-1999, 04:20:PM There are players alot better than Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is very fat and always unfit.
Go on a diet Ronny!!!!!
Astolfo, remember Ronaldo was not a phenomenom at Cruzeiro, just a promise!
He became a phenomenom at PSV and Barcelona.
He was too young at Cruzeiro.
Game Rod - Yes and no. It's bad to watch games without some of the best Brazilian players.
But Brazil have too many good players (that I think is better then the rest of the world good players). That makes the Championship very good, with many teams with good players, like Alex Alves, Guilherme, Juninho, França, Alex, Ronaldinho Gaucho...
And it is more fun then most European Championship, because there are more team fighting for the championship. Every year at least 8 teams have a good chance to fight for the championship.
astolfo 13-12-1999, 02:33:AM Ronaldo is really fat!, You're right,DaSerf2000
He is now worriest about his image and marketing then to recover his fit.
GOONERBHOY 13-12-1999, 04:34:AM astolfo,
Your wrong mate, Ronaldo at his best is one or the greatest in modern day football. He is severley overated though and i feel this makes people say he`s crap where he certinly isn`t. But i`ll say this at no point in his career to date has he been Europen Footballer of the year in my opinion...by a long shot.
Renato 13-12-1999, 04:51:AM I´m from Brasil, and I live here!!! I´m tottaly sure of what I´m saying, I know everything from the Brasilian teams and I wold like to say that here we have acces to watch lots off Italian games, spanish games and UEFA cups games. I really watch all the UEFA cups games, also lots of Spanish and Italian games, but I don´t like to watch English and German games, because they are "ugly" games for me, without tecnich players. The south america players are the most wanted in the world, if they weren´t in Italia and Spain, these leages wouldn´t be the same, so you should take care when you from Europe talk about our teams, because they reveal lots of players all the years, so our teams like Corinthians, Palmeiras, Vasco and others are one of the best in the world, you can believe it, because like I said I have access to watch Europe games, but YOU DON´T HAVE ACCESS to watch games with south-america teams. So, talking about Ronaldo, he was one of the best players of the world, but now here in Brasil there are lots of players that are playing better like Edílson,Alex Alves,Marques,Edmundo,Romário... and outside Brasil there are Rivaldo , Beckham, Raul, Djalminha, C.Lopes, Veron, Schelotto and others... So, you watched the game between Palmeiras and Manchester? I was supporting for Manchester, because I´m a Fluminense suporter, a club from Rio de Janeiro, and I hate the São Paulo teams, but I have to admit that Palmeiras played better and better than Manchester. And Palmeiras isn´t better than Vasco and the best team of Brasil today in my opnion: Corinthians.
PolishPower 13-12-1999, 06:49:AM I have to agree that Ronaldo has not been anywhere near top form since the injury before the World Cup' for whatever reason(laziness, bad doctors or whatever). So yes you're rigth in the past year and a half there are many players better than him. Will he ever get back to what he once had, who knows, maybe he will never be that good again. But in his day he was amazing, one of the best ever.
Goonerboy how would you know who the best European footballer is since you only watch British football?
GOONERBHOY 13-12-1999, 09:47:AM PP,
I think you are confused knowere did i say i only watch Brittish football, i watch Spanish, Italian, Dutch and german as well. What i said was that Brittish football is the only one worth watching!
Goonerbhoy: I am sorry for you... You don´t know how much you are missing... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Milagre! Tem outro Tricolor nesse grupo!!!!
NENSE! NENSE! NENSE!
PS: Os jogadores do Sao Raimundo sao melhores que o Ronaldo! :-P
PolishPower 14-12-1999, 01:45:AM goonerboy didnt you say once that you put on an italian league game once and watched it for 10 minutes and were so bored that you swore you would never watch again? or something like that. If you watch something for 10 minutes I don't think you can call that "watching".
GOONERBHOY 14-12-1999, 01:58:AM PP,
That was Spanish and i still watch it because it`s football. That Game was really bad and the rest aren`t much better. It didn`t bore me it disgusted me, the amount of diving is ridiculous. Do you watch the english prem? If you don`t this will just confuse you, when players like Harry Kewell start diving the game is in trouble.(time to call in the auto replay for fouling)
Lord,
Didn`t get that last bit.
baggio4 14-12-1999, 02:35:AM your wrong. ronaldo is a very good player, though we must admit he hasnt been in tip top shape since the injury, and he's also been made it seem like he's the greatest when he's not. i agree there are better players than him(in almost every sport theres someone better than the greatest they just dont play for a team) so he's very good he don't suck he's just not the best
Woody_007 14-12-1999, 03:39:AM Ronaldo?? Never a Phenomenon??? What u been smokin ..... the guy only won Two FIFA player of the year awards. I think he deserves some stature as a superstar.
PolishPower 14-12-1999, 05:52:AM I watch Premier League and I heard all about this Kewell dive, the press in England will go after every little bit of controversy to sell papers, so they pick on Kewell, Ginola, etc. Isn't it funny how its always a foreigner that gets picked on?
I remember a game few years back when Fowler took a dive and got a pk, and he was all apologizing to the player etc. and then proceded to hammer the ball home for a goal, and the announcer is praising Fowler for his great sportsmanship couse he apologised? what a load of bollocks!
Emilio 14-12-1999, 08:36:PM Totaly agree I am also from Brazil or if you like it spelled Brasil.
astolfo 15-12-1999, 04:31:AM Two infos: Edmundo was in jail just for one day, but he is free now and to GOONERBOY: In the last bit, Lord said that the players of São Raimundo (a team of Brazilian 3rd division) are better than Ronaldo and I agree with him.
GOONERBHOY 15-12-1999, 05:27:AM PP,
I chose the Kewell dive because he has a reputation for being a good clean no-nonsence player not because he`s an aussie.
