OK, guys i was thinking, and afetr seeing the pics for the first GFX contest i was amazed..........so many great pics...and i just couldn't force myself just to vote on one...that would be a bit unfair....so i was thinking....maybe we could have a different voting system instead of the plain old "vote-for-one"...here are my voting suggestions:

1. The current one, where we just vote for one person.

2. The Formula 1 style one, where you rank your top 6 candidate, and they are given points by their ranks, like this:

1st = 10 points
2nd = 6 points
3rd = 4 points
4th = 3 points
5th = 2 points
6th = 1 point

3. Minimal System 1
1st = 5
2nd = 4
3rd = 3
4th = 2
5th = 1

4. Minimal System 2
1st = 20
2nd = 15
3rd = 12
4th = 9
5th = 6
6th = 3

Any other suggestions?

Member A:

Artistic ability - 4 ponts (out of 5)
Creativity - 3 points
Originality - 4 points
Neatness - 2 points
Effort - 5 points

Total - 18 out of 25

Hmmm....that's a good idea....infact...a very good idea....but it's still alot like the "vote-for-one" system...unless we make it so that you have to rate every person?...but skills like "Effort" can't really go, since no one can really know/judge how hard the person worked on the image........

I think originality should be a big one, and also maybe some kind of difficulty level thing, so that way people will be less inclined to just slap a bunch of filters or tutorials together and call it 'art'..

exactly !!

in my work...the only filter i used was - Motion trail and Star for the Comet and Star.

The planet and skull were made in 3DsMax.

The lion skull was a picture.

The stars were done in 3Ds Max Starfield.

the iceblu's idea is really good, but it's kinda hardworking, because we will have to rate every person in 5 categories.

another interesting point in this method posted by ice is that we could know who would be the "champion of originality", "champion of neatness", etc... and champion of overall of course :p

btw, the categories could be others. as dragan said, it's kind hard to rate the effort. another point i would get a little embarassed is the difference between "originality" and "creativity".

and as shinji said, the categories could have different influences on the final rate.

btw, i used two filters on my try... blur and zoom. :p

good idea Yash, its just gonna be hard, to count them all up... I think...

don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with using filters to enhance your work, but taking a picture and adding a bunch of distortion and beveling filters without thought isn't very creative, that's just clicking buttons..

That's a nice idea, IceBlu! ;) I vote for that.

How about voting through a website.........
We create a new page and a poll script and let them vote there............

we have polls here, besides that would be too easy to tamper with...also a lot less people would go vote, because the 'action' is here in the forums.

Naaah....it really ain't that hard Kader....it's not like havig only top 3 instead of top 6 is a lot easier.....so...shall we say that the Formula 1 system is the final decision? :confused:
