my F: (hard drive) partition suddenly dissapeared!
I'm suspecting it was a "work" of a trojan virus,
now the F: drive doesn't even shown or listed
so even if I want to scan and remove a trojan...
the hard drive is not avilable to do so...
(my OS is Windows 2000 Professional)

any ideas? it's REALLY urgent...:(

Well it's weird it has disappeared, if someone used a trojan, he would rather have deleted your files on it, i don't know if it's possible to just wipe off a partition....I think it's rather windows bugging or maybe your hd had a problem or something (once i had 2 partition on my hd and when i reformated the c: drive disappeared in place of the d: one, so i installed windows on the d: drive and there was no trace of the c: drive :p )

btw did the space of that partition disappeared too ?!

yep... the size have dissapeared too...

as for formating etc... I've formated it... yesterday...
it's a fresh copy of win2000pro...
and F: was present all the time, untill it suddenly vanished today.

??????????????????????????????????
some idea?????????????????????????:(

When you click right / properties on one of your drives, then in the hardware tab, is your partition in the list ?

you could expect the worst... did you try to boot it from a diskette and check whether you can still see the data in f drive?? if not then i think your data in f will be gone...

if you have 2 or more hard disks and the primary is working fine
then it must be the problem of the other hardisk if your f drive is on another hard disk

u can try to delete and recreate your partition using fdisk or other 3rd party programs - be careful, when u recreate partitions all your data on the partitioned hard disks will be deleted!!

I've tried to recover my C: through Ghost,
I thought maybe something in the registry was defected
by this virus, so it doesn't "see" partition F:

well.... what do you know...
it copied all of the ghost image into.... F: !!!!
so now F: is back there, but the files are gone...
ahhh... it's lost now anyway.

thanx for everybody who tried to help.:)
