View Full Version : Real Madrid 19 years w/out WINNING @ Nou Camp it's OVER!
your_worst_night_mare 24-04-2002, 10:39:AM It was about time for Real Madrid to take a victory from Barcelona's home stadium.
I think Barcelona over used the long ball pass...especially trying to beat the Real Madrid defense over the air.
Certainly, this game could have go either way, since both clubs had couple opportunities w/ great chances to score.
Now, Real Madrid has the advantage after making 2 away goals. Barcelona really has a hard game ahead of them in the Bernabeu.
P.S. Nothing is impossible in football, but Barcelona needs a MIRACLE!! :D
Ubik Valis 24-04-2002, 10:56:AM Woohoo!!!
yeehaaaw!
This is so sweet dude!
2-0! HEHEHE-----we're gonna make it! :mrpimp:  :D :crazyboy: :)
Master Kush 24-04-2002, 11:06:AM Stupid Barca, should have been smater at the back!
Oh well, Barca still have a very young team which could be dominant in a few years time. Barca, unlike Real, buy young prospects and not superstars!
your_worst_night_mare 24-04-2002, 11:20:AM I agree with you Master Kush, Barcelona made stupid decisions, especially when they took Abelardo out of the pitch.
Also, Barcelona missed a couple chances that they had early in the game and at the beginning of the second half.
I really didn't see Saviola do anything...I guess he still has a lot to learn and mature.
Barcelona really missed Rivaldo among other players.
However, Real Madrid really didn't missed Figo.
I don't see how can Barcelona pull it back:rolleyes:
I hope the final match in the EUFA ends up w/ Man. Utd. vs. Real Madrid.:D

Fact or no fact, looks to me like Barca got beat at Nou Camp...It is a fact that Barca are buying great young prospects but ANYONE that knows ANYTHING about football knows that that is no guarantee of a future success. In football, anything can happen. It can very well turn out that Barcelona's young stars might become the back bone of a great Barcelona team for the future, but then again, maybe not...So while it might be a fact that they are buying young players, it DEFINITELY is NOT a fact that they are going to be a better team because of these players. All that is is an just an opinion that remains to be seen...But I do know one rock solid undeniable fact about the Real-Barca rivalry and that is that Real is a MUCH better team at the moment.
I read that Steve Mcmanaman scored a superb goal. Does anyone know where I can download it??
Internazionale 24-04-2002, 12:39:PM wow, quite surprised that Madrid can win 2 away goals at Nou Camp. Not bad at all !
grashed 24-04-2002, 01:03:PM Well done Real Madrid, Barca were really desperate to score and they had too many men foward. There were exposed by the counter attacks of Madrid, abit like the manu/depor match.
Real Madrid will go through, and they will probably win the whole thing.

I tollay Agree with "bertkamp16"...especially SAVIOLA which was easily dispossess of the ball several times...he might be young, but he has sucked in all matches against Real Madrid.
The only 2 players that I saw play quite well were, Marc Overmars and Luis Enrique...although Luis Enrique missed on 2 ocassions...and Overmars was at fault in the 1st. goal of Real Madrid.
Can't stop the rush... 24-04-2002, 01:50:PM The only person that looked good to me was Overmars. He didn't want to attack more though....

this is SOOOO true...
INFESTA 25-04-2002, 12:11:AM I wrote this once, I'll write it again. I don't know what you guys (and everybody else) see in Saviola. Don't get me wrong, he is good, but I'm shocked when I read journalists and fans calling him the new Maradona! Come one, didn't anyone see a better 19 year old playing in the last two years? What about van der Vaart, Quaresma or Joaquin?
In yesterday's game I noticed something important about Saviola's game. Everybody knows that the first touch in the ball is fundamental. Zidane not only takes complete control of the rock with one single touch, no matter how the ball gets to him, but he can also fake his opponents with that very same touch. Well, Saviola's first touch his horrendous, unless the ball goes straight at his foot nice and slow. Hasn't anyone noticed this too?
He is young and still has time to work it out but this is an important flaw in his game. It takes lots of time and work to develope this quality and, although I've seen a player go from zero to hero in 4 years (none other than Mario Jardel) in this category, it's not easy. Being a 19yo and everybody already calling you the new Maradona, you got to have a lot of humbleness to admit your flaws and work hard in your game.
RIP Barcelona's aspirations.
ricardo 25-04-2002, 02:23:AM I think the 19 years "record" is only in the spanish liga because real won a supercup game in nou camp like 10 years ago
Irvin_007 25-04-2002, 07:00:AM Overmars didnt have a good game, he was responsible for the first goal. Enrique and Kluivert all missed chances. But I refuse to lose hope .....
here's to Rivaldo and another hat-trick ..... GO BARCA!
your_worst_night_mare 25-04-2002, 10:42:AM I don't believe Javier Saviola is that good...I remember Ronaldinho Gaucho was better than him at that same age...same w/ Ronaldo...hopefully he can return to the WC 100% fit.
I did see Overmars play well, except for that mistake that cost Barcelona the 1st. goal.
Master Kush 25-04-2002, 10:49:AM Overmars got a lot of the ball but i dont think he was effective. He only created one or two quality chances out of a seemingly endless amount of opportuities.
Saviola didn't have a good game but didn't have much support either. He played much better in the last CL match (or so i heard, damn TSN and their curling!).
Madrid did not play anything special either and it was more Barca's lack of men at the back that caused those goals..
your_worst_night_mare 25-04-2002, 12:37:PM Overmars was effective at the beginning 'cause there was no way that Salgado could have stopped him w/out the assistance of Makelele (whatever his name is), how do you expect Overmars to beat 2 men?
Although, I do agree with you, Real Madrid really wasn't brilliant...certainaly aided by Barcelona's bad defense.
