I have Windows ME ORIGINAL and I borrowed my fren a XP Cd............
All I want to ask is = IS IT GOOD???

I Heard that many progs will not work with XP so do some games ..........Any tips?? OR Recommendation??

ALL programs run on it coz it has a Compatiability mode....

the only program that didn;t work was Roxio Easy CD creator...but they released a compatiability patch...so its fine.

they also have a compatiability test on the CD......run that to make sure your Hardware is compiatiable...

I am pleasantly suprised and happy with XP :D

i love it and absolutely recommend it.

I think u should use XP if u have a good enough comp, if u'r comp is on the borderline of requirements forget it, otherwise go for it sunshine cause u won't look back.

i am holding out with xp, cause i have too much of a ****ty system to get it to work nicely on mine, but once i do i will use it.

try to get office xp as well crackerz, u'll enjoy plenty :)

Me and my father decide that we will use windows 98SE and in the next format we will put XP!Also i will do the next format in 1 with 1,5 year!So there will be newest with more good programs and it will be much better!

I need a good cpu mine is 415(overcloked) and Xp requiments are 333mhz! They won't be fast!I have ram 330mb!The only i need is motherboard and cpu!Since i haven't money from a job i just have 340E. I give 110 for keyboard and hard disk!Maybe the summer that i will take money from grandfather-mother and all these I will put the 50% and my father mother the ohter and we will buy a CPU!It's just that my cpu do what i want it's waste of money just for Xp this why i will buy a newest os later!

crackerz, it runs ok on 128, it depends how fussy u r. i tried in 64, total waste of time.

allright on 128mb
damn good on 256mb
not much better than damn good on 512mb

To run XP you need good hardware!

indeedy so, u need very good hardware, however be careful in putting in too much ram, because systems can have too much ram and it will slow down your machine cause it gets confused on which it should use cause there is so much.

make sure have a lot of disk space, you'd wanna 20gb hdd, 256/512mb ram, 900mhz processor at minimum, and good graphics and sound.

thats to have lots and lots of fun with xp.

I insert the XP CD and clicked 'Check my system compability'......

Then, it starts with 'Microsoft Codename Whistler' or somethin'....

It started to check my system and end up with a report..........

The report noted:

This are some of the Progs/Apps that are not supported by Microsoft Whistler:

"My Printer"
"My Scanner"
"My Monitor's Driver (Intel Graphics Tecnology)"
"Norton Anti Virus"
"Power DVD"

And a few more..... (I had forgotten)

It's a Windows XP Professional Edition.......

What about XP Home Edition???

heehe, sorry for laughing but it struck me as a surprise that so many things were imcompatible :).

you would have to download the latest drivers for the hardware, however you will need nortons 2002 to run with xp ;)

oh btw, home edition will be quite similar i think, i am fairly sure it will be because theres not too much that is different between them really, well thats as far as i am concerned.

i think I'll stick with Windows ME and wait for a newer version of Windows to release............:(

Xp pro have much more things than home and i don't suggest you home cause i don't think you will be able to run any of these programs!But if you buy the norton2002 xp version you can run it!

I like very much xp and if buy any of these i will buy the pro version!But i think that micorsoft will get new windows in 12 months and i will upgrade my pc so i will take them!

just install XP and get the updated drivers that support XP
but the driver will most likely come with XP so don't worry

DOWNLOAD the new drivers and you won't have any prob!;)

yeah, you might as well try installing windows xp, and then go around and get the new drivers for xp, and if you can i beleive partitioning you hdd into 2 or 3 parts is handy, i have heard it makes the hdd faster, and plus u can back up files etc . . . and so when you format the part with windows on it you don't loose your files ;)
very handy.

NO AGP......

take no offence to this crackerz, but i had a motherboard SIMILAR to yours and they are crappy, piece of trash ;)

i know saying that u should change etc . . . . is not as easy as it sounds to us, but do think about changing the m/b and getting some real hardware :D

It will run fine . . . might be a little sluggish . . . but should be ok . . .

You just need a new svga card and a ram it will be great.Get a 512 ram or a 256.Also overclock it to 850.But get a coller first.;)
