Atleast you're happy...
your_worst_night_mare 25-04-2002, 10:52:AM Man Utd. didn't play bad at all...I certainly believe that they played well. However, the defenders really had a nightmare controlling the Leverkusen attack:rolleyes:

Actually not. We kept on losing the ball and slipping and sliding all over the place. We were very disjointed. I felt like I was watching bloopers.
MisH*The*Manc 25-04-2002, 11:00:AM Well it was terrible...
But next game we will have keane and hopefully we'll keep giggs on the left where he's most dangerous
Look at it this way, all we need is to beat them by 1 goal, this isn't impossible for a team on Manchester United's calibur
grashed 25-04-2002, 11:14:AM Bayer was in total control, although if Van Nistelrooy was abit sharper then manu might have got a better result. I think Bayer are capable of winning in the second leg, but so are manu. Fergie has a big task ahead of him.
mihalll 25-04-2002, 11:15:AM they played just like liverpool 2 weeks ago...:(
this bayer seems to be realy good...but not good enough for REAL !

Good positive words. You've restored my faith....:)
Larry 25-04-2002, 11:18:AM Yeah, they played stupidly, giving the ball away half the time

Internazionale 25-04-2002, 11:44:AM Bayer Leverkusen is deserved to be the most determined team
tonight. It was totally good play by Leverkusen and they possessed the ball lots in the second-half.
Leverkusen has 80% chance qualify to the final.
MisH*The*Manc 25-04-2002, 11:47:AM I wouldn't write off United just yeat... 20% chance of qualifying, hahaha, don't kid yourself
We've seen United do it time and time again, I think United have more than a 20% chance of winning by 1 goal
bloke 25-04-2002, 11:51:AM I believe "Furrgy" decided to replace Scholes with Keane. I hope I am not wrong.
I guess Ferg. decided he would take out a player who is a professional with a lot of class in Scholes ..... and he would bring on an absolute savage in Keane.
But the loose cannon Keane didn't help much really. It would have been funny to see Keane have a psychotic episode again on the field with the refferee. But I guess there wasn't enough time for that kind of extra entertainment.
I think that V. Nistelrooy and Olle Gunnar were playing OK and trying hard.
The defence wasn't really clicking together. And the midfield. Oh boy.
Leverkusen were surprisingly flawless. They looked a lot better than Bayern Munich ever did. Big surprise.
Silencer 25-04-2002, 12:18:PM Damn what a game that was huh?
Anyway, Bayer is a very strong team and they showed that once again today at Old Trafford.
I still think that ManU will go through to the finals in Germany next week, there's still hope, we must score one goal more and then it's against Real Madrid in the finals.
Man what a dreamfinal that will be :D
First a very hard match against Leverkusen next week that we have to win.
very sad to see us giving away the home win....
get rid of silvestre plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
bring yorke back....... use scholes to his full potential or let him
leave!!
now that neville's injured the defence will be even worse ( like
there was anything good about it!!)
i think now its time for one man...VERON to prove his worth...he
should take us to the final....
if not..then oh well Leverkusen deserve it too right?
i wanna se man u V real though.....

I doubt it. Just because Bayer don't have big name players, it doesn't mean that it's an easy match. Bayer will play attacking, and Man U doesn't have the defence to be able to win. And german clubs seem to be able to humiliate big clubs at home. I wouldn't be surprised if the score is 3-0, 2-0, 3-1 etc.
Amika 25-04-2002, 02:21:PM the 2 away goal will prove costly... bayer will be very hard to defeat at their home....

What i meant is they're not an "all-star" team like Real Madrid, Man U, Juve etc.

they may not be famous players but their are all quality players...
Mulder 25-04-2002, 04:32:PM The game is still 50-50 ....may be MU were blurred by the aspirin from Leverkusen,,,but this German outfit is a very good side and no underdogs,,,,,,,BTW ,, I can sense some disrecpect to Gary Neville,,,,He broke the same metatharsal bone as Beckham,,and now his World Cup in in doubt,,,,,you guys didn't even concern about that....He is ane of the biggest England and MU performer...
Two different treatment and receptions of two MU and England Stars.....:crazyboy: Mulder:crazyboy: I WANT TO BELIEVE:mrpimp:

I would take Bayer over alot of teams....:rockman:
Amika 25-04-2002, 10:51:PM i won't bet my money against them getting through to the final now.. after earning a draw at old trafford...
mhflierman 25-04-2002, 10:52:PM I only saw a big pasrt of the first half. I thought we were doing quite well at that point, we were very much in control. Van Nistelrooy had some good opportunities. In those first 20 minutes Bayer was nowhere to be seen. I don't know about the rest of the match, seems that ManUtd gave it away then. But then again, I think many underestimated Leverkusen. Though I do think that will only be in this form for one season. Ballack is leaving next year, and Ze Roberto is also not that happy anymore.
We are also really suffering annoying injury-blows. Now Neville is out with the exact same injury as Beckham, the exact same! I can't believe it. Now our defence gets weakier and weakier, also next week the midfield has to be re-arranged. Giggs should play on the wing, Keane and Veron in the center and Scholes on the right. And for God's sake Sir Alex play with TWO strikers. Van NIstelrooy and Solskjaer. The defence is going to be a bit of a problem, Blanc, Silvestre and Brown seem certain, so I guess Phil Nevelli has to come in, or even Irwin who has played at right-back quite often last season.
I'm still quite confident about going to Glasgow. ManUtd will always score a goal, so they should just win in Germany or draw 3-3. Or more.
I can't see United progressing to the final at all after last night's performance. Leverkusen have got a great home record in the Champions League - they held Arsenal and the put four past Liverpool's usually reliable defence.
So if United's defence plays anything like they they did last night they can forget going to Glasgow for the final. With their injury problems they got a large mountain to climb, especially as Bayer have the advantage of having two away goals
They'll need to win or get a high scoring draw to get to the final, and I really can't see them doing it.
Larry 25-04-2002, 11:46:PM That doesnt sound like you Joey. Wheres the Scum and Hate???? :mrpimp:

totally agreed with you...
monkee 25-04-2002, 11:54:PM Up until Ole's goal Man Utd were the better team, creating more chances and running around Leverkusen. As soon as it was 1-0 Man Utd lost their way, and Leverkusen seemed to find a bit more drive.
Veron annoyed the hell out of me. I'm not denying his unquestionable ability but never play him on the wing again. He always went in field and then when Bayer won the ball back there was a huge gap on the right, and how do you expect either Gary or Phil Neville to handle both Ze Roberto and Plancenta. :D Add to this the lack of urgency in his play and you've got an obvious channel for Leverkusen to attack from.
Man Utd completely lost their shape and focus.
Brown was found wanting on a number of occasions and the amount of times I saw 3 Man Utd players standing on the same patch of grass when they should have had room to clear or break was ridiculous. Van Nistelrooy didn't seem on song. Man Utd had the chances to done what Arsenal did and be 2-0 up against them within the first 15 minutes.
I think Man Utd are lucky to have their two goals because had it been 2-0 it would be even more difficult in Leverkusen, but at 2-2 it's still all to play for as away goals count for nothing unless the scores are tied. One thing's for sure, if Man Utd want to get through the semi's they'll have to play a lot better than they did last night.
ps. I'm not slagging off Leverkusens performance, they played well.
HAHAHAHA MAN U! Suffer............... hehe, stupid teams still in the CL!:D . Rather see Man U at full strength vs. Real for a good match, but because I don't like Man U, go BAYER!:p

Arjun 26-04-2002, 12:50:AM Leverkusen played excellently yesterday
They totally closed down the Man Utd attacks and suprised MANUTD.Then they caught ManU offguard with two well executed goals.

If I was on my old forum, I'd call them Scum, but this ain't my turf, so there's a time and place...
I can see the 2nd leg being a 2-1 win for Leverkusen
ricardo 26-04-2002, 02:27:AM Bayer has been playing great for some months, most of you only knew them for the arsenal games and you had a wrong idea of this team
I hope you understand now Deportivo didn't lose on purpose against them, they only played better and won
They wish to make the treble this year because they know next year many players will be sold (Ballack, Lucio, Ze Roberto,...)
