manufan 01-05-2002, 10:47:AM I am just depressed. Everything just fell apart. I just don't think it's fair but I won't complain. We were soooo close!!!!!! And to see how the rest of you are acting has sickened me. When your team gets defeated no one makes fun of you so why make fun of us? Anyways, great play by Man Utd. At least they tried. HATS OFF to you Leverkusen, win the champions league.:)
Neutral LFC 01-05-2002, 10:49:AM Don't sweat it manufan, United did well to get this far and Leverkusen are a top side - top of a group that had Arsenal and Deportivo, and knocked out Liverpool - no shame in United losing to them.
Amazing to see Keane back - and he scored a goal.

man united forever 01-05-2002, 10:56:AM 2 CLEARANCES OFF THE LINE! It feels so unfair. I know Bayer are a good team, but I think we deserved to go through today. The first 'clearance' was probably a goal, but it's all over now.
Becksdrg 01-05-2002, 10:58:AM damn. it was close. Bravo to Leverkusen for going on.
damn. now all i hope is that the Manchester - Arsenal game is a better result than today.

Yeah.. that's what I expected from a person like you no more, no less... Did you even see the game? We had three goalbound shots cleared off the line and we played great. But let me remind you of something. laugh all you want but Rangers will never reach that level so keep dreaming..

Manchester United at least made it this far. They played their hearts out even with 2 (not just 1, but 2) of their most important players out with injury, Beckham AND Gary Neville. most teams would have just rolled over and died.
johnnyboyuk 01-05-2002, 11:13:AM If we had not had 2 play Deportivo who were blatantly out to get all of our players, especially Beckham!!
This is not a whinge, but simply a facts statement. I will admit we were outclassed unfortunately in the games. However, that Danish bel-end of a ref came back to haunt us english again!! He is a disgrace, the commentator was appauled by the decisions he made. It would have been a different semi-final had becks, Neville and keano been fully fit for both legs.
Anybody think it was a bit weird that one team doesn't win the leauge or anything, then all of a sudden goes straight to a champions leauge final and almost winning the leauge??
DRUGS??????

Becksdrg 01-05-2002, 11:17:AM BTW, how many trophies have Rangers won past couple of years? None, cause Celtic is busy beating the living crap out of u.

Bayer have always been a good German team, near the top of the league, so dont talk crap. drugs? aye sure, whatever ya paranoid little glory hunter:mambo: and didnt United not win win the league the same season they won the CL? maybe they took drugs too:rolleyes:

AAHAHAHAHA:D dont pretend you know anything about scottish football:rolleyes: we just won the CIS Cup this season and we will also win the scottish cup, also didnt we win the league 9 years in a row? and practicly dominate scotland and beat the **** outta celtic (almost put them outta buisness too) since the Graeme Souness era? eh? eh? GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!:mambo:
WE ARE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SCOTTISH CLUB..........EVER!!!!!!!!!!
johnnyboyuk 01-05-2002, 11:33:AM **** YOU!! How the hell was the ref on our team??
You dumbass, I doubt u watched the game, do they have telly in scotland now??
:p
Yes, Man Utd were second wen they qualified for the Champions league and wont it!!
I've beaten much smarter ppl in arguments than you, so i wouldn't start you prick!"!
I think you're the one just tryin 2 get a cheap laugh cos they'res a team gone out. But lets see how far you got this season, CIS cup?? so were there actually any decent teams in that? QF Uefa cup?? how **** is that!! And no league! So shuv that up ur dumbass scottish arse!!
And glory hunting, is that why ur a Rangers fan then is it??
Are you really proud to dominate that tiny country of scotland, with about only 2 teams ever winning ur crappy league??
genesis 01-05-2002, 11:34:AM What a disappointing result, Man U did try, and they went ahead thru Roy Keane.
One slip of defence work, Bayern got the equaliser.
However, Bayern had done well undoubtfully, but we also had couple of chances on the goal line. For me, the first one from Johnsen, already across the line before Ze Roberto cleared it out. Football is like this, sometimes full of controversial.
Man U should look forward now against Arsenal this Thursday.
maddog1983 01-05-2002, 11:34:AM why can this forum never have a decent conversation without someone throwing cheap shots at another team
anyway as a man utd fan said to me in here when leverkusen beats us
"your out nobody cares about your team now, you can't win any trophies this year"
Becksdrg 01-05-2002, 11:40:AM Rangers winning the scottish cup? be proud. thats the best you can do. LOL
there is a reason Celtic and Rangers tried to join the Premiership.... one is more money, another is the scottish league is garbage. its a 2 team league. i wouldn't be proud of winning that.
rangers are a top team on a second tier league. Manchester United have been the top team on one of the top 3 leagues in the world.

yoyo_911 01-05-2002, 11:43:AM question...
what place are the rangers in?
btw
RVN u are a ranger fan...
but please don't think the Rangers are better than Man U.
genesis 01-05-2002, 11:44:AM Talking about Glasgow Rangers, their achievement seemed to be limited only in Scotland itself. In Europe, they hardly made an impact.
In fact, Rangers are not in the same class with Man U.
Even in the computer simulation soccer games, they are only categorized in B or C class.
So, compare Rangers with Man U is no fair.
Glasgow maybe the final destination of Champpions League this season, but the team of this city still got a long way to go.

your american what the **** would you know about football anyway? your a glory hunter. the scottish cup is worth a lot more than "The F.A. Cup" and we happen to be undefeated against English sides in europe:D we`ve been one of the most successful british sides ever, winning more trophies and beating bigger sides than man u ever will. i remember the year we won the cup winners cup, bayern munich were the best team at the time, and we absolutely ****ed them.
i would be more proud winning the ****ing welsh league than i would winning the Premiership, competitve? so what? 10 old men walking around a running track would also be competitive.
and what exactly is a second tier league? didnt celtic beat you 4-3 this season? at old trafford? and didnt we beat you 1-0? the very year before you won the CL?:mambo:

i hate that with FA manager rangers and celtic are as good as if not better than teams like newcastle , chelsea , depor those fringe sides... i dont think in real life they are that close (not taking a shot at you RVN just stating what i think )
genesis 01-05-2002, 11:53:AM Now, maybe the situation does not looked good for Man U, maybe Man U will end with empty-hands, but if Fergie can solve the defence problem, I'm sure we can achieve further and better in the next season.

we hardly made an impact due to cheats, referees, Marseille bribing teams, and Oliver Kahn injuring our best striker.

its funny that u ACTUALLY THINK the scottish league is better than the Premeirship.
how many European Trophies have rangers won recently? or even been a real threat for? i can talk about trophies won 5-10 years ago, and games won just as long ago...
(and didnt we beat you 1-0? the very year before you won the CL?) as u elegantly put it.
manchester United has won trophies since they won the CL final. i would still like to count the CL trophies that rangers have won.........

Amooballer 01-05-2002, 06:04:PM lol, I almost shetted in my pans when Butt came out to get the ball but missed it, and then that Uruguayan guy tried to lob him, but Placente came to rescue. It kinda reminded me of the '99 final. Both teams had a lot of chances, it could have gone either way. I think the defending was poor because of the slippery pitch. All in all, Bayer had a harder road to get to the final. And that's why they deserved it.
They had to get past all of these teams to make it to the final:
Barcelona (semi-final, unprobable final)
Lyon (second in France, one point behind first)
Arsenal (leading Premiership)
Juventus (second in Italy, one point behind first)
Deportivo (Third in Spain, 3 points behind Madrid)
Liverpool (3rd in Premiership, 2 points behind ManU)
and of course ManU.
ManU finished second to Deportivo in the first phase of the group stage, and Bayern was the only other "good" team that they had to face before again playing against Deportivo. You could argue about how good Boavisto is, but they were clearly behind both Bayern and ManU.
What I'm trying to say is that, not the team with the better players advanced, but the team who had a tougher road to get there. And if you still don't think that Leverkusen is a good side, then I got nothing to say.
bloke 01-05-2002, 06:20:PM I didn't watch the actual match.
Why was the pitch slippery?
Was the match played in the rain or something?
Amooballer 01-05-2002, 08:38:PM I don't know why. When Keane scored his goal, Zivkovic slipped while trying to get to the ball. Keane would have never gotten to the ball if Zivkovic hadn't slipped. Also, Blanc slipped when Neuville scored.
Can't stop the rush... 01-05-2002, 08:56:PM I will hold my comments untill after the game tomorrow...:D
Its good to see an underdog make it all the way to the final and take 2 english scalps along the way ;)
Leverkusen focus on attacking football and fully deserve their place in the final. Personally i hope they go all the way :D
