View Full Version : Liverpool beat Blackburn ..... barely
bloke 09-05-2002, 11:11:AM With a few hicups Liverpool managed to overcome a surprisingly good Blackburn team to win it 4-3. Blackburn don't usually play so well. I didn't think they had it in them :D
That great man Emile Heskey saved Liverpool from what would have been a humiliating draw with Blackburn.
Liverpool could now get that automatic CL second spot. All you have to do is beat Ipswich.
Liverpool deserve that second spot.
antithesis 09-05-2002, 11:42:AM Yeah Bloke. Pretty good game that was. Andy Cole looked impressively unselfish. But........Our Arsenal have won it, all I need is for those cads at Liverpool to finish third and the season will be perfect. We still need better players though.Madrid and Man Utd and Bayer have shown how arduous it is to win the league and the Champions League, if we have to win it again next year and be successful in the CL we need two or three world class players with youth.
maddog1983 09-05-2002, 12:50:PM yeah great game to watch for a neutral but in the end we got the points and thats what matters good to see anelka play well but he'll probably ask for 70 000 pounds now
Amika 09-05-2002, 01:37:PM a great result considering that man u lost their match at old trafford to arsenal.. now we are in a good position to finish above man u...

Humiliating??????
Blackburn are a good team. To be honest I was expecting them to win, and they do normally play good football. They have allot of creative players. Just their defence lets them down. They had a bad run during the season, but they are coming to their peak wit Cole and Jansen scoring goals.
Duff and co made your defence look like schoolboys when he scored that goal.
Amika 09-05-2002, 02:05:PM yape.. blackburn is a good team... and it is a good result for us... we show character to win this kind of game...

Blackburn is better than Liverpool? I don't think so.
Liverpool is in the same class as Arsenal (my boys) and Manchester United.
Blackburn is in the same class as maybe Charlton and Southampton. Blackburn is not even as good as Chelsea or Leeds.
Their manager Souness is a bit of a wacko as well.
Didn't Blackburn just rcently get out of the relegation zone where they have been all season?
Yes they did.
Maybe Liverpool didn't have their best game, but still the final score says who the better team was.

Can't you read mate?? I didn't say Blackburn were better than Liverpool. I said they are a good team and they play good football. So it was not going to be no roll over for Liverpool, because the pressure was on them to get the second spot in the league.

Well? You said that you expected "Blackburn to beat Liverpool". What conclusion am I supposed to come up with after reading that?
I suppose you're a Blackburn fan. Nothing wrong with that. It's just that I'm not.
Neutral LFC 09-05-2002, 07:59:PM If Liverpool beat Blackburn 1-0 or 2-0 it's "Boring Boring Liverpool", if we win 4-3 then it's "barely" beating Blackburn.
Interesting that.
Don't know what thread to stick it in, but well done Arsenal.
What's up antithesis, where have you been? Haven't seen you in ages.
antithesis 09-05-2002, 08:19:PM Where was I?
Winning a bet with my wife that I can stay off this forum for three months.
My prize: A spanking new Chelsea kit.
Wasn't worth it though, Liverpool fans seem to have more respect here since I left.

lol :D we have all stormed the boards and taken over
antithesis 10-05-2002, 12:43:AM I am in the Caribbean. At $500 for a Team's top, no one cares which you get.
Confession though.............I support both teams, and worse yet, because my father was in Liverpool on a rainy night, I was technically born there.
Grew up in london, so I am entitled to dislike any Liverpool team that doesn't have Dalglish in it's starting eleven.
I'd support the third placers if they signed Kelly Dalglish in the morning, I have incontrovertible evidence that her hamstring is more sturdy than Michael Owen's.
Note to Sven:
Those L'Pool players get injured very easily. Pick no more than one, unless you want to start Keown upfront against Nigeria when they are crying in a Korean hospital
"Ohhhhhh me leg" - Owen
"Ohhhhhh me back" - Gerrard
