View Full Version : Why didn't Manutd try to play football?
Before the game a lot of Mancs wanted United players to come out and kick Arsenal into lumps. They certainly did their best in that understanding. I imagine Fergie encouraged this before the game but seems to have over-stressed it. You hardly even tried to play football. Some of those tackles were disgraceful and could easily have been red cards if the ref had had any bottle. And when Arsenal were 1-0 up, instead of giving it their all, the United players got irritated and totally stopped playing football. What was the deal with not giving the ball back when Lauren put it out for a throw with Forlan on the ground? By tonight's performance it's obvious that this United team has serious character flaws and maybe Fergie's recent attitude is starting to influence his players?
Ruud again showed what a dirty cheat he is, first by making a hilarious attempt to win a penalty and then when he punched Freddie in the groin, off the ball. The guy is disgrace and should have been sent off.
Anyways, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, and we won it at Old Trafford!
grashed 09-05-2002, 05:42:PM Its called fustration, I think the referee could understand it after the first goal went in, he didn't want to make it worse for manu. Why do you care anyway, you won the title.
Finally someone other than Man Utd won the title :)
Arsenal were without a doubt the best team this year and fully deserved the title.. and yes this is coming from a spurs supporter.
monkee 09-05-2002, 11:49:PM Man Utd started all fired up and there were some bad challenges. Arsenal also made some bad challenges and the United players that did deservedly got booked. Lauren kicked the ball out of play because United fans were booing. It was a stupid mistake by him, can't complain about it.
Anyway, what are you moaning about Arsenal won the title at Old Trafford didn't they?
Not to mention Vieira's handball. I'd hardly say Van Nistelrooy dived. I think the ref did quite well. Stop moaning. You sound worse than what you claim United fans to be like.
I'm not moaning, I'm pointing out the serious flaws on this Manutd team. No character, no spirit. While Arsenal have it byt the barrelfull. I think it's because of Fergie and his attitude, it's worn off to his players.
And RvN should have been sent off, it doesn't matter what the score or time is, if you punch an opponent you should go off.
Silencer 10-05-2002, 06:29:AM Tsssss, you're just jealous that we have RvN in our ranks, he's not a cheat at all, I'm getting sick and tired of you so called Arsenalfans who always get off on trashing Ruud.
He's man of the year and guess why that is huh?
Fergie chose Forlan over Ruud and that was a big mistake, the fans at Stratford end were shouting for Ruud after 15 minutes.
Congratulations, you won the title but next year it will be ManU again (as always :D
That Ruud should've been sent off is a joke!!

So you think it's alright to punch people on the pitch, or just when RvN does it?
And I'm so jealous of you, especially since we just won the double and Manutd won f*** all.
Get out of your dream world Ruud boy, your hero isn't perfect. When somebody does something wrong he should be criticized. Don't think he can't do no wrong.
Silencer 10-05-2002, 03:39:PM Í'm not saying he can't do nothing wrong but normally Ruud is the kind of player who's sportive and not a raw player.
He's only human and wants to win so sometimes he does something he better shouldn't have but which footballplayer can say that he never tried to do those things.
Now as you could've read I congratulated Arsenal with the victory but with idiots like you around I won't bother next time :crazyboy: :crazyboy: :monkey: :mambo:
Amika 10-05-2002, 03:46:PM i saw that incident and there is contact between RvN and freedie... whether it is intentional or not is another matter...

I really couldn't give a **** about your congrats.
And why am I an idiot? 'Cause I call your hero what he is? Cheating, punching, diving scum!
monkee 11-05-2002, 03:13:AM You won the league and your still not happy. Once again another fan is more concerned with Man Utd than their own team...
Jealous that pretty boy Pires didn't get player of the year despite the pity factor when his ligaments went.
I'd rather Pires won it and Man Utd won the league, but I guess some fans don't see it that way.
Before you call other teams' players cheats you might like to take a look at Arsenals disciplinary record which I do believe is worse that Leeds'!? Despite a couple of your players getting away with bans! Particularly Vieira for his elbowing.
Monkee, which team looked like thugs on wednesday?
Scholes, Neville P and Blanc all had disgusting tackles and then Ruud punched Freddie in the stomach. Not to mention when they didn't give the ball back.
monkee 11-05-2002, 06:04:AM I agree, Scholes, Neville and Blanc were rightly booked. The ref was standing a couple of feet away from Van Nistelrooy and didn't even give a free kick, he was in a much better position that the tv camera as well.
Not giving the ball back because Lauren made a mistake. The crowd were booing, he kicked it out, no-one complained except you. Give me back my ball I'm going home for tea.
The facts don't lie, Man Utd were one of the cleanest teams this season and Arsenal one of the, if not the, dirtiest, as the FA's records will show. You didn't winge at how dirty Arsenal were against Liverpool, etc, and neither did the Liverpool fans, who lost!
Stick a smile on your face mate. You won the league, get over it.
You're in denial mate and only see what you wanna see. Have you seen a tackle by an Arsenal player as dirty as those mentioned, this season?
Lauren kicked the ball out because Forlan was on the ground. Didn't you see the game?
Actually RvN had his back to Durkin so he couldn't see well. Everyone could see on TV that RvN punched Freddie. Why can't you just admit it?
The stats show Manutd as a clean team 'cause refs are afraid of them. When was the last time a Manutd player got sent off at OT?
willy 11-05-2002, 06:50:AM arseanal won and they are the champion for this year.. mu has been champion for many years.. so wat's the big deal.
next year will be who? maybe liverpool.. ur guess..me not liverpool's fan. anyway, everyone has it's point. who know's mu and arsenal oready agreed who's the winner??? hehe
only fool like us don't know..
gluck
monkee 11-05-2002, 06:59:AM Erm, yes I have seen many a tackle by Arsenal worse than those performed by Man Utd the other night, such as Bergkamps attempted two footed stamp against Liverpool. Vieira's given out many an elbow and stamp. Don't try to make your team out to be angels.
I'm not denying anything, some of the challenges made by Man Utd players were really bad, not red card offences but easy yellow card tackles. I think it was more due to being really pumped up for it though than wanting to kick lumps out of Arsenal players.
I question whether you saw the match. I heard booing, I saw Lauren kick it out and I saw Forlan walking around, Lauren just got confused. Nothing like Arsenal when they scored a winner in the FA cup last season for performing the trick you proclaim United played.
If it was such a big deal I think Wenger and the players would say something about it. And the punch, it was the camera that was behind Van Nistelrooy not the ref. He definately caught him, I'm not denying that, but the referee's decision is final, including Vieira's handball and the goal throw in that had crossed the back line by about a meter. But, hey, celebrate don't sit down crying over how Arsenal have had such a torrid time.
As for ref's being afraid of Man Utd... It's a tired cliche that just doesn't hold mate.
Anyway, we're obviously not going to agree on this one. You hate United more than you support Arsenal.

What the hell do you know about that? You don't know me. I just don't see the point of coming in here and boast of my own team. I celebrate with my mates not on chat-forums on the internet.
Bergkamp didn't touch Carragher and if he wanted to touch him he would have. I think everyone knows that Dennis has good control over his feet so it shouldn't be too hard for him to stamp on Carragher if he wanted to.

Like when, on this season? Vieira has more self-control now and has cleaned up his act, he doesn't react when he is fouled anymore, as opposed to Roy Keane who is much older but hasn't matured much over the years in that sense.
Forlan had been on the ground but as soon as Lauren kicked the ball out, he got up. Why did you think they were booing?
I ask again: When was the last time a Manutd player got sent off at OT?
