PhilWalsh 15-05-2000, 12:04:PM I thought I should start a new topic a bit of something different is not bad is it? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

england are doing pretty well i guess in the carabean
germany dont seem to be bothered anymore
and south africa well i dont know about safety there(dont say now about english hooligans but u know what i mean)
who has the best chance u think??
i think england should win it but i am 100% sure that not everyone will agree!!!
phil
Hunnter 15-05-2000, 03:03:PM At this stage, it's looking like England are the favourites to stage it...but after the shocking display by the hooligans in France, why would any country want to risk all the complimentry violence that is attached to it.
Belgium and Holland will be a good indicator
when the Euro Tourny starts....
AC MILAN 15-05-2000, 03:43:PM I think you'll forgetting about Brasil, which should host the next wc after japan/korea, since the last wc in south america was back in Argentina 78.
Drinky UKSN 15-05-2000, 03:51:PM Also bear in mind that the FIFA World Club Championships, held in Brazil, were completely snubbed by fans except in games in which home teams were playing. If it was down to fairness, send the finals to Morocco. If it is down to the best bid, send them to England.
kimiz 15-05-2000, 04:01:PM I think the winning countr will be S.Africa.The country having absoloutely no chance is england, because the police said that they werent able to protect 1500 Turkish fans by the match Leeds-Galatasaray.How will they be able to protect Miilions of fans?
HNAFC 15-05-2000, 04:11:PM Look at how england handled EURO96, it was superbly done.
Drinky UKSN 15-05-2000, 04:13:PM Turkish authorities uncovered plans by some of these 'innocent' to smuggle weapons including grenades and a mine. They had also discovered that English hooligans were trying to organise violence, so instead of searching all fans and mounting the biggest security campaign for any event in history, they took the easier option. Makes sense really. I would point back to Euro 96 which was held in such amazing spirit with just about no violence. Incidentally, 'Hi!' to those Dutch fans I met in Warwick, just in case you're reading this - too bad your prediction of a 4-1 result was for the wrong side http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif
Woody_007 15-05-2000, 05:31:PM Europe has hosted the WC 10 times I think. S America has hosted many times as well. The WC has never been to Africa .... and for the good of the game .... it should goto Africa. After Lazio's win this weekend ..... there might be justice in this world after all.
PhilWalsh 15-05-2000, 08:12:PM BTW brazil has a very big problem with crime!
south africa isn't the safest place either..
england handeld euro 96 well so wht not 2006.
although i would like to see south africa win it but crime is a big problem!
Drinky UKSN 16-05-2000, 06:14:AM I'm with you on the fact that it should go there from an emotional point of view, but when you look at the bids from Morocco and from South Africa they just lack the polish, facilities, and, more importantly, experience, of the other bids. Remember the 1995 Rugby World Cup? There were enough administerial ****ups that a government level enquiry was launched.
Drinky UKSN 16-05-2000, 06:15:AM God, I can't even say ****? Thats ( ock for those reading the censored version http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Schumacher 16-05-2000, 06:51:AM He He ;-) Drinky, I said once that Eddie Irvine was a "****y little s*** (I put the stars in myself" and the word "****y" was censored. People must have thought I meant well endowed, but from where I come from it just means "Lippy" or somebody who boasts a lot.
As for the bid, I think South Africa will get it, because of politics. No doubt there will be thousands of murders and an outcry...
FACT - South Africa is a country offically in the grip of organised crime (others are Russia and Columbia) SOURCE: World Economic Forum
Schumacher 16-05-2000, 10:18:PM Are these stars automatic? The word censored was ( ocky, for whatever reason.
FireFan 17-05-2000, 01:47:AM South Africa should host the WC. From what I heard Brazil's bid was by far the worst, and South Africa's was the best.
Corinthians 17-05-2000, 08:13:PM WC 2006 in Brazil NOW!!!

Id like to see England get the 2006 world cup but I doubt very much if they will. I think South Africa will win it. As far as safety and their ability to host it goes there wont be any major problems in South Africa. South Africa hosted a highly succesful Rugby World Cup there in 1995. They have the stadiums and infrastructure to cope with it.
