I been looking thru pc mag and I found some costly programs for web editing, graphics and so on . . . how do these companies expect the normal person to pay extravagent amounts of money for thse programs. Heres a list:

Adobe InDesign 2.0 $1800
Adobe PageMaker 7.0 $1345
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 $1500
Adobe FrameMaker 6.0 $2099

these are just some of the stuff . . . (all is AUS $)

They're pricey because in most of the cases, these programs are for professionals, and its their companies that pay it for them...

Most expensice program I've ever seen was Maya Unlimited that cost £15,000.
However they've recently drastically slashed the price in an effort to actually sell copies.

Well maya is maybe the most professional program ever...the majority of game developpers use it for their games, so i don't think they'd need to cut the prizes to sell copies :)

Maya is a 3d graphics package. I believe it was the software used to create some of the effects in the matrix. You can get a free learning edition from http://www.aliaswavefront.com/freemaya .

Well, you know the scene in the matrix in the subway where neo and the agent jump in the air an fire the guns at each other? Well the subway in that scene was actually designed and rendered in Maya, it looks just perfectly real though!

3Ds Max is VERY powerful.....and actually there isn't too many things that Maya can do, that 3ds can't....

Max Payne is a good example of modelling using 3Ds Max....

Nurbs , Patch modelling , block modelling .........the possibilitis are endless.

i will soon show u some of the animations i created with 3Ds Max.

:)
