View Full Version : This is the best Euro Champioship I have ever seen.
sglean 26-06-2000, 01:03:PM Does anyone disagree, the play has been so open. the goals have been brilliant. Zidane is the best player in the world. France is probably the best team in the world right now(no offence)Brazil. Holland are on fire, no one could have predicted 6.1 against Yugoslavia. Italy without a reall maestro are playing their best tournament for a while. Remember they are under 21 champions.
Portugal are creating chances every second. this is the best by far and must have southamerica quaking in their boots with the World Cup just 2 years away.
If France win they will be the team of this new decade. Has anybody seen anyone score on Barthez who wasn't on the penalty spot in this tournament, that is domination, lets hope Kluivert has something for him.
::shinji:: 26-06-2000, 02:30:PM I agree totally, not only have there been a lot of goals, but so many of them have been amazing. I'm thinking of goals scored by Fiore, Figo,de Boer, Henry, etc etc etc!
PolishPower 26-06-2000, 05:17:PM It was a great tournament in the group stages, but as far as quarter-finals 3 of the 4 games were pretty mediocre. The good side of the quarters is it looks like the 4 best teams made it through.
BTW, someone said there were no big upsets this year, well Portugal was 20-1 before the tournament, so the fact they got this far is somewhat of an upset, though agreed, not as big as Czech Rep or Denmark in the past...
ricococo 26-06-2000, 07:46:PM I think its has been a great tournament so far. I also think that it has become more difficult for the minor soccernations to succed in EUROchampionship. i don't think you will see surpriceses like Denmark in 92 and Czech in 96. in the furture.

This has been a fantastic championship. Beautiful goals, offense and defense. Figo, Bergkamp, Kluivert, Zenden, ZeZu, Totti, all fantastic. Four great teams and what looks to be a very enticing semis ...... if only I had taped the games .... oh well .... GO HOLLAND!!
But the best part about EURO 2000:

Neo_9 26-06-2000, 10:48:PM I only say ZIZOU....
I love this game, just love it so damn much....
a_shearer 27-06-2000, 12:31:AM England 96 was BY FAR the best.
I actually got to see a two games! Went to the match and had a great time. I went to Romania versus France at St. James, and Italy versus the Czech Rep. down in Liverpool.
You Italy fans only hate it because Italy was CRAP! You guys got knocked out way early...
PolishPower 27-06-2000, 03:10:AM I agree with Zambrotta, WC 2002 will be hell the trouble is it is still so far away most people don't realize it yet. Even if you tape games, do you seriously think you can avoid overhearing the results on the street or from co-workers? I had hard enough time avoiding the results for WC 98, and those games were on in the afternoon.
Kostas 7 27-06-2000, 01:17:PM BTW. How many Euro Championships have you seen?
Voltaire 28-06-2000, 02:29:AM I know what you mean. I worked at EPCOT, and I had began my walk to my car...I was somewhat anxious to watch the Final (World Cup) on my VCR, but when I noticed the Brazilian tourists crying, and the workers at "France" singing "La Marseille," I could only deduce...
