Kennedy has been excluded of the Portuguese team due to a positive result on the latest doping control!
He was the greatest surprise on the Portuguese National Coach´s choice for the WC!

The 19 year-old midfielder Hugo Viana from Sporting Clube Portugal is the chosen to replace him! Hugo Viana will travel directly from Switzerland where he is currently with the national squad playing in the European under-21 tournament!

Well, the good news is that Hugo Viana will go to the WC after all.


As for Kenedy, first we have to stress that he didn't take any doping whatsoever. He just took a pill to lose some weight, since he was on holidays, and then he was called for the NT and did a urine test right away. That's why he was caught. Had that test been done 3 hours later and he would be clean.

Now what that pill does, among other things, is hide potential doping substances that a player might have taken, but since his levels were so low, he couldn't have been taking it with that purpose. Anyway, he was pretty stupid and now he's paying the price...

I'm a bit scared of how this might affect our team's morale, but may it serve as an example to others, Portuguese or not.
