if i am not wrong, before that unforgettable match between brazil and italy - group 3, 2nd stage, WC spain '82 - an italian journalist said: "italy can't win this match, for the good of the football".

why? because it was one of the best squads of all-time, with a wonderful attacking style of playing against a team that had got 3 draws in the 1st stage of the WC, with a very ugly defensive playing style.

i know brazil has a very defensive (and horrible) playing style nowadays. but i don't think brazil winning the WC can make the football gets more ugly in the future. because brazil is related to an attacking style, and if brazil wins the WC i think it would happen due to this strikers and offensive midfielders. so if italy gets the title, hope del piero, totti and vieri being more important than nesta, maldini and cannavaro.

if italy had won WC 94, probably the football today would be exactly how it is. so i'm not saying if italy wins the WC the football will go down. but surely this has more chances to happen if italy gets the title than if argentina, portugal, spain, france or brazil win the WC. ;)

i'm just giving some explanations why i think adrianofifa has this kinda idea in his mind.

a win is a win mate and france chose to take part as did brazil,,, djorkaeff, karembeau, Lama, Anelka, mmm i cant think off the top of my head were playing their it may have been an average tourny but we still beat france and brazil... it wasnt like they weren't trying....... also we drew with france 1-1 here in australia before the uruguay game..this was a full strength side with pires, zidane, viera ... the game where dugarry got injured... either way we aren't that bad

It doesn't matter what teams you beat if you choke on the one game you can't lose. Yeah, you beat France and Brazil in the Confed Cup, but you didn't beat Uruguay in the World Cup Qualifiers. I'd taken defeat against France and Brazil over missing out on the World Cup any day.
