I'm about to start making gameplay files for F2K2 but I need to know for sure:

Can I edit soccer.ini and big.ini with Wordpad without causing crashes?

Thankyou:clapwap:  :clapwap:

Sure, no problem. You can use Wordpad. Don't use Notepad because it saves the file as a native TEXT file but the INI needs to be saved in BINARY (DATA) format which Wordpad (or any data - e.g. HEX - editor) does.

ANY *.ini file can be edited with any text editor. BUT ini.big cant be. Its actually a "big" file, not a "ini" file.

lukas_svoboda, Are u postive u can use wordpad? ive used it and had crashes before.
I say just use either DOS edit, OR do it the way its meant to be done, and just open ini.big with ea graph. Export the *.ini files, and then edit them with ANY text editor, before reimporting them, again using EA Graph.

Montoya1.

EA Graph is a program that was designed to allow you to edit and Add-Extract and change certain files or file formats that sit within the EA sports games, as in *fsh -- *bmp -- *.gif -- *.big files etc etc .. and can be found at this venue. The graphics files that are going to be edited are then often redone or touched up by using either Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop before thay are added back into the edited game files.

About wordpad and notepad, this query has been bouncing around these forums for months on end, and thinking about it, maybe 'suggestion' that the admin guys here could fix up a permanent Thread in all forums that relate to the most common questions and answers to the basic questions that keep popping up in here and save the other users the time in answering the most often repeated questions about editing and such.

The -->safest<-- way to edit the *.ini files is to use a simple Hex Edit program, these type of programs are designed to do such tasks without having the problem of ending up with buggy results.

I agreed with everything, except that last statement. I still believe the safest way, is by doing it properly, and exporting and importing the ini files, using eagraph, OR gfxpak if u like dos commands :p
This way, u r simply editing a text based ini file, and u can change whatever u like, without fear of corruption.

Can someone post EA Graph?

I can't download from the site above, even the public servers as I'm asked for an auth code if I use DA and right clicking save As does not work either:confused:

sKIp_E.

Mate, i never even thought of using EA graph to text edit, i only use it to open up the Graphics files etc, but if it works ok as you say it does, well then there shouldn't be any probs using EA graph or a Hex Editor as the other option.

Montoya1.

The links that i posted seem to have changed somewhat, and it used to be a click and hit set up when you downloaded the EA graph program, but now it seems to be another bullsh/t, join up and read the ads-popups site which is a real pain in the arse when you come to think about it. Mate if the email address in your profile is current, i will email the program to you asap.
