View Full Version : Something wierd about those Koreans!
spiro d dragon 20-06-2002, 06:07:PM If Korea beats Spain, I want to be the first to check the entire team for doping or bribery to dope. I have recorded and watched those Korean matches servral times and there is no way anybody or an entire team could go 115 minutes full sprint without almost collasping. Only kenyan athlethes can do this. Those korean players donot even gasp for air at the end of their matches. They even have time to run around the pitch. When USA played Korea, they tried to let the Korean tire them selves out of the game but soon realised that they were the ones getting tired. Those korean ran like the wind for well over 90 minutes. There is no way a team whom star players frequenty warm the reserve team in europe without any frequent major matches can have that kind of fitness and agility. It's unheard of. Think about this. They won over poland too easily (first team to qualify for the world cup), they drew with USA (team that beat Korea easily during Gold cup in US), they beat Portugal like stealing candy from a baby (One of the favorites to Win the world cup) and they beat Italy in the dying minutes. So far for me, this has been the strangest world cup of my time. Referee mistakes have become a volcano issue, teams complaining, fans not satified, players angry. We know of France 98 and French team winning the World cup, but no country hosting the world cup have had it this easily. If they win against spain then I'll know something is down and it'll smell funny.

Neutral LFC 20-06-2002, 07:33:PM This is the funniest thing I have read since...well all the other lame excuses and conspiracy theories from the Italian players, coaches and press this morning....
Though I must say spiro d lamo does take it to the next level.

The only thing that smells funny is the bullsh!t that you write.
emmer 20-06-2002, 07:35:PM could you stop saying lots of crap against korea? not only in this thread. how bizarre.
spiro d dragon 20-06-2002, 07:49:PM it's just an opinion, RUNNER UPs. Not to be judge by those new to real soccer through video games as yourselves above. Korea or Asian are known to be very fast players and from previous world cups (if you were all old enough), you'll know that the Asian teams usually run of Gas before the end of 90 minutes due to over running the pitch. I wish some else from old soccer experience can back me up here. I really don't care about referees or the crowd, but it really amazes me being an experienced and regular soccer player in San jose, CA. How a team like Korea can out run all these teams (Poland, USA, Portugal, Italy <----Imagine.) for a good whole 90 minutes without real fatigue. Mass attack and mass defence for 90mins; No fatigue? Did any body here even see the military like scrutiny during Italy training before their matches? I did. And for them to be easily out run well into extra time is too unbelievable. I'm not the only one. I know a superman when I see one cos he'll wear a blue custume and a red cape. And those Koreans ain't one.
spiro d dragon 20-06-2002, 07:53:PM I'm not from europe and only support England Mind u. Only speaking from conciously watching 6 world cups and europian leagues.

LOL.......!!!!!! Good ONE Neutral LFC!!
By the way, Spiro, have heard about Guus Hiddink's Power Program? specifically designed to raise player's stamina... They were under that program for last 6 months...
Also, Asian players tend to run out of gas before 90 min? I think you didnt catch 1994 WC's Korea vs Germany ( Germany barely escaped in the second half ) or Korea vs Spain ( tied the game at 89th min ) or 1998 WC's Korea vs Belgium ( came back in the second half and tied )............
INFESTA 21-06-2002, 02:31:AM Putting aside those conspiracy theories, which I'm not that fond of, I think that it's fair to say that the Koreans are absolutely impressive in the physical department. They do run the whole game without ever getting tired. Now this is as far as I'll go, it's a fact that should be clear to those who paid attention to all Korean games in this world cup.
To be honest, I questioned this myself until I saw my team, down to 9 men, outrun them in the last 10 minutes of that fatidical match. What did this tell me, then? I think their secret lies in all that heart and passion they put on the pitch. They're mentally very well prepared but can be cracked, as Portugal showed... A ball to the post made the difference...:(

You know whats even more funny guys? This coming from the mouth of an American. We all know America is one of the country that uses steroids in the sport the most. And some times in a very open way like in American football, where almost every single athlete uses steroids. And along side American football comes Baseball and Basketball. But anyway, if you dont know buddy running is one of the major caracteristics of ASIAN football.
And to win a game takes more than that, no matter how fit you are you still need skill to finish the plays. And so far Korea is showing skill and luck with the ability to run the whole match non stop :D
IceBlu 21-06-2002, 03:18:AM heres my reason as to why Koreans are so quik.
First of all , countries like Portugal , Brazil , Argentina , France , England , Italy , Spain etc have players from the La Liga . SerieA , EPL etc...and the level they have been playing at is extremely grueling .Innumerous injuries , games played for the domestic league , European Cups etc and they have hardly had ANY sort of rest before this big event.
Second the Climate is a farcry from what these players are accostomed to.The heat has much more of an effect on the already overplayed players.
whereas Korea has been doing NOTHING except getting themselves physically for this competition. They lack strength but have a lot of Stamina.....but nothing that a fully fit European player can't cope with.
I'm sure Korea couldn't even win a game outside Korea.

Wuts with some of you Americans and many Italians who just can't except the fact that Korea has became a better team under a good coach. Yeah we did have extra luck plus home advantage, but it doesn't mean that we don't deserve even a short applause for becoming a better team and having to beat Italy, Portugal or Poland, let alone the kind of cr@p you people give.
As someone said above, did you not see Korea play against Germany, Spain, Belgium etc...? Were those games played in Korea??? Did Korea look so imcompetent during the Poland match? or even the Italy match???
So stop talking cr@p about Korea all being just stamina with no skills whatsoever. You need more than stamina, luck, and home advantage to win over the likes of Portugal and Italy.
Quit making silly excuses for the teams that lost to Korea.
Korea ain't that bad of a team as some of you all think!!!
cchow32 21-06-2002, 05:02:AM Korea did play with heart and passion against Italy. I thought they totally deserved the win even though I would've like to see Italy gone through................however, being Asian, its nice to see an Asian team make the final 8. GO KOREA!

Oh, there could be only one explanation. Training. Dedication. Spirit. Conditioning. I could go on and on. You realise, that Korea has warm summers and cold winters? If you're accostomed to that, then you could play both in the cold and the heat. That's why they are so fit. Nothing's 'down' or 'smelly'.

Oh, you're right about that. For those who watched the Korean team games it was obvious that you had more than that by your side. Well, you also have a good coach and a lot of spirit, but are you going to tell me that the refs aren't protecting your team?
And listen, I'm not making silly excuses, Portugal lost because of its coach, not because of the ref, but I find it outraging to see a team constantly favoured by the referees.
Hey, I didn't say anything 'bout the refs...
I actually admitted that we did have 'extra luck' at some ocassions that is. But not to the extent where you could say 'Korea was protected by the refs'.
And um...
What are you trying to imply....?
mmm.... no... I don't think so...

This is the most important reason why the Koreans are so fit.
Hiddink is assisted with the same condition-trainer who assisted Holland in '98.
Another piont is that Guus Hiddink organized the team in such a way that not the WHOLE team has to run during the whole match.
So tacticly and physicly it is very well balanced.
Also, the Koreans have already good stamina by nature. I am sure they can play well outside Korea as well....

There are some valid points in your argument, but the last sentance just gave everything away. It would be terribly myopic to think that Korea will be unable to win outside their homeland. The Koreans have the skill and technique, and their ball distribution is amazing. Infact, I think in the near future they will be able to beat most European teams, hands-down.
Hail the new, Brazil-Of_Asia, Korea.
Cheers.
