View Full Version : who is the best player eva unbornoregon 24-06-2002, 05:32:PM who is the best player eva Pele Digitarius 24-06-2002, 07:05:PM I agree, but Johan Cruyff is not far behind. Jari Litmanen 24-06-2002, 07:20:PM JARI LITMANEN & PELE ! :D chipper 24-06-2002, 07:25:PM Pele. No doubt. The FIFA RTWC Webmaster 24-06-2002, 10:02:PM Diego Armando Maradona. And about the Pelé vs. Maradona clash I have this to say: If you look at both men's total career's and personalities Pelé probably was the best. But I want to look at the peak of both men's career's and keep everything off the pitch out of it since it has nothing to do with football. Maradona's career had its peak in 1986 when he led a team of football workers to the World Cup title and another team of football workers to the Serie A title. Pelé always had good players around him in the national side. What Maradona did in 1986 is something that no other football player has even been close. His peak was the highest any player has ever had and ever been close. Maradona is the best ever in my point of view. Han 24-06-2002, 10:09:PM 1. Pele 2. Cruijff 3. Maradonna I remember Pele was named the best of the century, after which somebody made a poll on the internet. Most (young) people choosed for Maradonna, simply because they never seen Pele and Cruijff played. So what's the value of it? MisH*The*Manc 24-06-2002, 10:10:PM Pele, Cruyff or Van Basten I'm not a big Maradona fan J-L 24-06-2002, 10:25:PM well i'd say pele! Cruyff was a great player but not in the same league as Pelé and Maradona. ShearerM4 25-06-2002, 12:22:AM this is a simple question. the best ever was Alan Shearer no I'm kidding it was this guy http://i.timeinc.net/time/time100/heroes/images/profilepix/pele.jpg emmer 25-06-2002, 12:28:AM Originally posted by The FIFA RTWC Webmaster Diego Armando Maradona. Maradona is the best ever in my point of view. so pelé is really the greatest, he got to be the best even being around a lot of great players! i doubt maradona could get it around that kinda players. i agree with han, for me cruijff was better than diego. and i'm still undecided (and maybe never get decide) about who's better: maradona, garrincha, puskas or di stefano. :mambo: :mrpimp: EDIT: spelling RangersFC 25-06-2002, 12:30:AM .................its........... MARADONA! Jambo Den 25-06-2002, 01:04:AM Maradona, and you can go on and on about Pele till you're blue in the face, I doubt Pele could have won a world cup and conquered Napoli basically on his own:cool: orkunbjk 25-06-2002, 02:05:AM 1) Maradona 2) Pele 3) cruijff Internazionale 25-06-2002, 02:27:AM I'd say F. Beckenbauer. robbo2000 25-06-2002, 04:30:AM 10 reasons y Maradona is better than Pele 1. Maradona won the world cup 1 time while Pele couldn't do it(he won it 3 times) 2.Pele can score with both legs while Maradona can score with both legs and both arms 3.Maradona is better than Pele in using shotguns (ask the journalists who were shot) 4.Maradona is a cool man while Pele isn't (Maradona smokes drinks , loves drugs...etc) 5.Maradona is blessed while Pele isn't (that's y God gave his hand for Maradona) 6.Maradona scored more goals than Pele (in his dreams) 7.Maradona was selected in the Argentinian squad while Pele wasn't 8.Maradona speaks spanish better than Pele 9.Maradona had the honour 2 play in 1986,1990 and 1994 wc while Pele didn't 10.Maradona is a white man while Pele is a black man(don't get me wrong j/k :p ) If u have more just post them -William- 25-06-2002, 06:44:AM I dont knw why no one ever mentions Alfredo Di Estefano as one of the greatest players ever, even maradona said that di estefano was better than pele and himself ! but I put it like this : 1.Pele/Maradona 2.Alfredo Di Estefano 3. ??????? ?????? sip 25-06-2002, 09:01:AM IMO Diego Armando Maradona ;) MuRcY[b] 25-06-2002, 09:06:AM for me it was Maradona 'cause i loved the way he played .. expolosive, quick, confident & as Diego said ... Pele has become lame FIFA *** kisser! what the hells he doing making commercials about errection problems? as if he hasnt got no money... anyway he was a great player but i havent seen as much of him in action as i have maradona & di stefano well ive only seen one match of his - Real Madrid 7 vs Eintracht Frankfurt 3 ... WATTA GAME! he really blew them away that game ... i havent seen much of Cruyff & Beckonbaur cause im only 16 see... well i like MARADONA the best The FIFA RTWC Webmaster 25-06-2002, 01:52:PM Originally posted by emmer so pelé is really the greatest, he got to be the best even being around a lot of great players! i doubt maradona could get it around that kinda players. i agree with han, for me cruijff was better than diego. and i'm still undecided (and maybe never get decide) about who's better: maradona, garrincha, puskas or di stefano. :mambo: :mrpimp: EDIT: spelling What I meant was that Pelé wouldn't have won even one World Cup with the surroundings Maradona had. Digitarius 25-06-2002, 02:23:PM I don't rate Maradona that highly. For every wonder-goal he scores he replies with a hand-of-god, for every dribble he replies with a bag of coke. Diego Maradona has never scored in a World Cup final. Pele has. As for Johan Cruyff, I rate him because of his leadership on and off the pitch. And how about the Cruyff turn? Which other footballer can have a technique named after him? (other than Bosman with the Bosman ruling!) emmer 25-06-2002, 02:40:PM Originally posted by The FIFA RTWC Webmaster What I meant was that Pelé wouldn't have won even one World Cup with the surroundings Maradona had. well probably you're right but almost all squads were stronger in pelé's time than they were in maradona's time. and i still think cruijff was better than maradona even he couldn't get a world cup. Digitarius 25-06-2002, 02:51:PM Cruyff was robbed of the World Cup in 1974 when Holland outplayed West Germany in the final but lost 2-1. birthek 25-06-2002, 05:28:PM Michael Laudrup.............. The FIFA RTWC Webmaster 25-06-2002, 06:09:PM Originally posted by emmer well probably you're right but almost all squads were stronger in pelé's time than they were in maradona's time. Untrue. How hard was it to score back in '58 when there only was like 2 defenders on the pitch? Tactically and allover physically, players has become stronger and stronger for every year. Rising Sun 25-06-2002, 07:17:PM Bah, Pele may be King, but Maradona is GOD. ShearerM4 26-06-2002, 12:04:AM no no no no Pele was number 1 and the second best ever was GEORGE BEST ERK 26-06-2002, 12:20:AM Maradona...............pele is not far behind hristostoichkov 26-06-2002, 12:27:AM 1- Pelé 2- Cruyff 3- Puskas 4- Beckembauer 5- Di Stefano 6- Maradona And the best keeper was Lev Yashin.:p emmer 26-06-2002, 08:56:PM Originally posted by The FIFA RTWC Webmaster Untrue. These players, cruyff, maradonna, puskas, pele etc have been made legends because of ppl talking about them for decades, so they automatically become "great" players in ppl's minds. I mean, I watched Pele play England in that 1970, he really didn't play much part in it. Maradona scored only a few good goals. But for me, I would say Johan Cruyff. I mean c'mon, he had a turn named after him!! lol:p But some of the goals he scored were simply amazing, his footballing brain was very good. However, in 20 years time, I wonder if we will say people like Beckham, Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Figo as greatest ever?? Players need about 20 years after they're retired before people to remember them as greats. But, now, I feel less of the current players are being regarded as "Greats" as there are simply more footballers, people will not remember greats. If you remember Ryan Giggs, he was massive about 5 years ago, but people just forget these days, too fickle. emmer 27-06-2002, 03:58:AM i think this thread should be merged to http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31889&highlight=pele+maradona :D :mambo: :mrpimp: Mulder 27-06-2002, 07:14:PM This guy..... |
