Help I have a Dell P4 128 RAm, 1.8 ghz, 20 gb hd with 11 gb's used also I have WinXP...
Si my problem is that my computer has alote of ram and speed and it most times slows down or is like crazy ! LIke some programs freeze up and close themselves(word,ie,kazaa,trillian,etc.) also some icons take like 2 seconds to load after playing games and also my start menu takes some time to open ! ! ! ! And today I was working on word and suddenly it automatically opened like 3 different new documents and also it kinda started not responding and also like inserting Word Art and stuff...! Another thing is that when im typing it kinda doesn't appear the text (that i typed) but just appears like 2 sec after ! ! !

A friend told me it may be a virus, but
I think its that my pc is overloaded and I have to little ram ...
So please help me as fast as you can ! :(

do you have any anti virus program?? try use norton anti virus 2002 scan your hard drive and see whether it is a virus problem... remember to update the latest virus pattern before you scan your hard drive...

P4 with 128MB RaM????

For me, P4 should have more that 128MB RAm......

yeah . . . I'd try boosting it to 512mb, or even 256mb.

I know I haven't gotta virus, but with win xp my taskbar/start menu takes forever to load when my comp starts, I removed all the icons etc . . . and still no luck . . . It might be a case of re-installing :rolleyes: :(

Well you guys say it might be ram problem ! I hope so cause I don´t wanna format my pc .... And yes, I have Norton 2002 everything up to date and it didnt find a single virus in my pc !!

You could try just using disk defragmenter on your hard disk, that can sometimes help, and it might save you having to buy more RAM straight away. Though i have to say that 128mb of RAM with a P4 is not a lot.:cool:

Whats the recomended ram with a p4 ??? And i usally defrag like every 2 days ! And do P4´s take up more ram ? And how much does ram cost ?:(

If I had a P4, which I don't but if I did I'd have 256 or 512 mb ram minimum ;)

i don't think it is the ram problem... what other software did u run in your startup???

i think the problem can also be becos of desktop themes or software like webshots..... like the webshots program slowed down my comp ,errors and all that stuff . i had this kind of problem so i did not use ANY of the desktop themes . try this thing if u want . cos when i removed all my desktop themes the comp was working perfectly !!!!!! btw use as much as wallpapers as u like . hope this helps.
