If the refereeing will be like what we've seen in Korea, we'll get very, very far.:D

Now seriously, I hope we get ourselves a good foreign coach, brave enough to put all the big old names out of the team and give those young talents (Quaresma, Hugo Viana, etc.) the chances they need to blossom in the next Euro.

I just can't wait to see Gerrard back in the England team, when he's there I think they can compete with most teams, but when he's missing they can't hold the ball in the midfield :(

And with some of the youth players England has, we could actually do something in 2004..........maybe ;)

Gerrard is really a class player. HE was certainly missed in this WC.

I hope netherlands can do something good in Euro 2004. They have tons of grat players but not a good team.:(

I have good hopes we will do :)
After the assignment of the two new coaches (van Hanegem, Advocaat) we played some friendlies with good results ( Holland-Spain 1-0, USA-Holland 0-2 and a lesser good match against England 1-1)
It seems the air is cleared up and I am very optimistic about qualifying :)

Well.. All i can say is to watch out for the Czech's!:D

They will have a good blend of young players (Rosicky, Baros, and maybe Cech) with great vets (Nedved, Berger, Koller).

Plus, they will have the drive to win after not qualifying for the WC :(

I am pretty sure Sweden will do quite well with players like Ljungberg and Anders Svensson in their best age. We will also have younger guns like Kim Källström, Pontus Farnerud, Zlatan and more...
The defence will have guys like Erik Edman and probably Nils-Eric Johansson.
Now if we could only get Henrik Larsson to stay for 2 more years...

Euro 2004 is probably goina depend on the club scnene. Portugal will probably not be as strong as they are now with Figo moving along in terms of age. The French are in a lot of trouble with Zidane 34 in 2004..too old? Italy has a ton of guys around 30 who are experienced but not too old ! England is in a similar situation plus they have a ton a young GUNS and wil be determined to go far! Spain has to find someone to back up the guys up front ! Italy and England would have to be the favourites based on this and I think that the Netherlands is most likely goina faulter with a PLATHERA of old guys ! Upset King: Ireland for sure...look at the young guys there WOW !

I can assure you that other countries like Portugal, Spain, and France have their "young guns" aswell, it's just that you don't hear about them as much in the English media, go figure...Figo won't be factor for Portugal either, young players like Simao Sabrosa or Quaresma will be more than able to take Figo's shoes once he's too old to play...keep your eyes on Hugo Viana who just signed for Newcastle, he'll be the focus of a lot of attention at Euro2004.

Hey

i think Yugoslavia is gonna go far in EURO 2004 becuz all of the young guys like Ilic and Ivic and Pjanovic and the new goal keeper Jevric. As well in the front Yugo will have Milosevic and Kezman. As well as with Jokanovic and Stankovic and Mirkovic and Lazetic who need to and will step up to do better ar this European Championship. So i hope we can at least come 2nd in the group behind Italy or even pull off first place some how. You never know what is gonna happen when the players step on that field, anything can happen. So i hope Yugo does good in qualfying so they can enter Euro 2004 with a blast and better then ever after sitting at home watching this World Cup go on with them. So i hope Yugo goes far if not theres always 2006 and 2008 after that lolz

Turkey will be team to keep close eye on. If Stevie G and Michael are fit England will win. Holland- will bounce back quickly, at least semi's. France need miracle to qualify. By 2004 we may see more than four Italians in attacking half of field, they waste their talent, looking back, better tactics would have won them the World Cup

I actually agree with that, the Iceland qualifying...not the Turkey-Iceland final. This will be Iceland best chance ever to qualify for a major tournament and I think will give Scotland a good fight for 2nd place...although Latvia and the Faeroes aren't always pushovers, especially at home. This will be a group to watch closely..

As for others...

Holland -need to regain some respect so they'll be on a mission.

France & Portugal -same as Holland.

Italy -always a favourite in big tournaments, Euro2004 will be no different.

And ofcourse the usual suspects have a great chance to do well Germany, Turkey, England...etc

I think Finland or Wales could be surprise qualifyers too..

boy you are funny man Robin Williams doesn't compare to you but really

Quarters: Turkey, England, Romania, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal

Semis: ROMANIA!, Italy, Spain, England

Winner ROMANIA I can dream cant I, really final I think

Italy VS Spain with Raul and Spain winning it, sadly Nesta and Italy losing it but this all depends on how the groups are drawn.

12-07-2002, 04:13:AM
but Romania they have a good team and got back they're greatest coach ever in Iordanescu,

The team right now: Contra who is 26 right now, Chivu our captain(22), Mutu(23), Niculae(21), Lobont(24) great keeper in my opinion and Keoman said he's gonna start for Ajax this season, Stoica(21), Radoi(20), Ilie(27) and just add 2 and you get Euro 2004 and add 4 you will get World Cup 2006 where in my opinion they will do good but all this remains to be seen.

Few people know that Finland has two Premiership keepers in our National side. They are Aston Villa's Peter Enckelman & Bolton's Jussi Jääskeläinen who was chosen as the best keeper in the English Premier League last season & he was linked with a move to ManU. Oour number one keeper is Antti Niemi of Hearts who was chosen as the best keeper in Scotland.

Sami Hyypiä was listed as one of the three candidates to receive UEFA's best defender award this year. The two others are Cafu & Roberto Carlos. Hyypiä was also chosen into the CNN World All-Star team.

In mid-field we have Maestro Jari Litmanen who was third best player in the world in 1995. In addition to Auxerre's talented Teemu Tainio.

In attack we have Chelsea's Mikael Forssell & Charlton's Jonatan Johansson.

Yugoslavia plays with a very typical Eastern European style. Our coaching staff have studied your football very closely.

Yugoslavia is a very talented side & their youngsters are coming through but this match may be decided by experience.

Let's wait & see what the future will bring but don't be too over confident just ask some of our friends on this forum.

Savo
13-08-2002, 08:37:PM
so lets see who has more experience..here is a list of previously games played between Yugoslavia and Finland -- below:

Yugoslavia - Finland

Helsinki 07.09.1950. 2:3 (1:2) Friendly
Beograd 25.09.1968. 9:1 (2:0) Qualif. for WC 1970
Helsinki 04.06.1969. 5:1 (3:1) Qualif. for WC 1970
Kuopio 23.08.1989. 2:2 (1:2) Friendly

it was finland starting it off with a win in this series 2:3
then Yugoslavia smoked Finland out of belgrade 9:1 in a qualifier
then again another big win for Yugoslavia 5:1
the last game was in 1989 with a friendly score of 2:2

so in this series of Yugo vs. Finland games out of 4
Yugoslavia has won 2, lost 1 and tied1
Finland has won 1, lost 2 and tied 1

i know this may be from long time ago but these are just facts i am showing here..!!

and just for fun im going to add the wales one in here too
:p

Yugoslavia - Wales

Beograd 21.05.1953. 5:2 (4:1) Friendly

I think Finland, Yugoslavia & Italy will be fighting for the top spots in this group & Wales is the dark hors/challenger who can surprise any of us. Ii wouldn't be surprised is Wales would manage a few surprises and shock us all. :D

You only qualified for Euro 84 just because some defender scored a last minute winning header against Bulgaria. Had it stayed 2-2, we would have been there instead!

BTW it's "Cardiff" and "Swansea"...

You liked them and you're Romanian, geez. I hated them every second because they had 3 shots against us and 3 goals, we had 50 shots and 2 goals. Whatever as long as we make this time with our very talented side, it's ok.

I don't think England will reach the semi's, the only teams I can really see winning are: Spain, Portugal, or Holland, and Czech may surprise people.

Finland can surprise anyone in this group. We have a fantastic squad & I think our group will be a very tough one. Nnobody will have it easy not even favourites Italy.

I think Finland, Yugoslavia & Wales can surprise Italy.

And guess why that is chicken sh*t:D
Germany is so very scared and worried when we come back cause they've lost with 3-1 at a friendly here in Holland.
That was some humiliation and i LOVED IT!
Hell you guys in Germany even made a song about going to the WC without Holland with partyheads and everything, well the fun is over chickens.
Be ware Germans cause Holland WILL BE BACK AT EURO 2004 and we will qualify this time cause they learned from their mistakes. But first things first, we have to beat Norway on the 21 of august at a friendly in Norway.

Turkey surprised me. Your team can go far but Turkey showed all the "average" national teams that they too can challenge the top national sides and beat them. Now however Turkey is a football "power-house" in my opinion!

I think Finland should follow their example.
