I've been reading this forum for about 2 weeks and decided I would contribute some suggestions.
Coaches and Captains and how they affect the team. I think that the person who is playing the game should be able to change the coaches and captains of certain teams. Depending on who the coach and captain are, your team receives a positive or negative bonus. In the previous FIFAs caoches and captains aren't involved in the game at all, yet they are a very important part of the real game.
Strategies. In current FIFA games, strategies are sort of limited. 4-4-2 variations of that are present, but there must always be 3 lines. I think that you should have the ability to customize this further. For example, Glasgow Septic play a 4-2-2-2. If you don't allow this in the game then teams that use these formats won't represent the real team they are supposed to.
Training. When playing a season in current games, you just go from one game to the next. I think that if you do a season you should have to train your players or they start losing skills. If you don't train them enough, they lose skills, and if you train too much they become tired. You have to train them for just the right amount of time.
Internet play. I know this has been suggested before but this really needs to be added. 99% of all new games feature internet play, be it the simplest of TCP/IP connections. Adding this into the game would take virtually no time at all and yet they have not done it.
Video. EAs video support is really bad. Why is it that only people with 3dfx cards get to use resolutions above 640x480? I have a Matrox G400 and when I run FIFA it runs in a 640x480 screen. I use a desktop resolution of 800x600 so FIFA runs in a 640x480 full screen but it doesn't change my resolution to 640x480 so the game only takes up about 66% of my screen. I have to manually set my resolution to 640x480 to play.
