View Full Version : Pro evolution soccer 2 for gamecube
NickJ 12-07-2002, 07:11:PM Hi, I have been searching all over the web, and some say it is happening some say its not, but can anyone tell my if Pro Evolution soccer 2 is coming out for the Gamecube? (in europe)
like I said, ive seen one site say its out early next year, but lots have no mention of this.
I'm dying to know, so if anyone know this, let me know.
cheers
Chelsea2001 13-07-2002, 01:11:AM So far i've only heard about it for PS2
Gamespot was the one who reported PES for the Gamecube (link) (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/0,11114,543015,00.html), but there hasn't been any confirmation or follow-up since then that I know of.
NickJ 13-07-2002, 02:10:PM cheers for that, its so annoying that the PES website doesn't tell you anything, have to keep searching i suppose. or failing that, get a ps2 to play it.
Gareth 13-07-2002, 03:10:PM OK I picked up on some info from Konami a while back about PES coming to the Xbox...the outlook was good that's all I can say.
If the game does come to the XBox (seeing as Konami have brought the so-called PS2 exclusive MGS series to the XBox then why not PES) it will more than likely come to the GCN as well...seeing as both consoles are far more superior than the PS2.

lol Fair enough..
Jet Set Radio Future, Project Gotham, Rallisport Challenge, Dead Or Alive 3, Tpm Clancy's Splinter Cell (upcoming), Unreal Championship (upcoming) MGS2:Substance (upcoming) etc etc. It's a bad arse gaming machine. Plus we will have the best online service out of the 3 consoles.
Phayze 15-07-2002, 02:47:PM Jet Set Radio, DOA2 and MSR (Project Gotham without wings) you could play on a DC for the price of one of those games. Splinter Cell looks good, but i played through MGS months ago and it really wasn't worth the hype. Unreal will be out on PC, and someone will MOD it to turn it into whatever the XboX one is no doubt. And the online service will turn it into.. da dada daaa.. a PC, like the one you're sitting infront of now...
On the other hand, where else are you going to play such classics as Super Monkey Ball, Mario Sunshine, Zelda, RE0? GC BABY!!
NickJ 16-07-2002, 03:47:PM The X-box is a really powerful console, but when will it have a really good collection of games? They have one or two brilliant ones, the rest are ports from other consoles, not exactly setting the gaming world alight are they?
Anyway, the sales have shown the x-box failure, and the gamecube has been the worlds best selling machine since it came out, if only it had been released the same time as the PS2, then it would have beaten that too and proved that quality, original and intuitive gaming is the best.
flamingwookie 16-07-2002, 10:00:PM The fact is, XBox, PS2, and GC all look about the same, so any arguments about graphical horsepower are a waste of time. In addition, comparing the PS2 and the XBox is like comparing apples and oranges. For more info, see Ars Technica's excellent article (http://www.arstechnica.com/cpu/2q00/ps2/ps2vspc-1.html) comparing the PS2's Emotion Engine architecture to the WinTel platform (which is what is in XBox). In media applications like games, it's not all about MHz, it's about optimizing throughput . . .
But I digress. The games just don't look much--if at all--different. FIFA World Cup 2002 (horrible game that it is) looks identical on PS2 and XBox. What matters on each platform is the games. Name me one game besides Halo even worth considering owing for XBox that you can't get on PS2 (and for less $$$). Project Gotham? Oh, sorry, I played that last year on the PS2 . . . It was called Midnight Club Racing and was much more fun. Or maybe it was Gran Turismo 3 with the great Logitech force-feedback wheel . . . Ok, fine, you XBox pansies can whine about antialiasing, but the fact is I've got WE6, MGS2 and GTA3 and you don't. Games matter, and while Konami may consider porting their games to the XBox (ie: MSFT is pushing/paying Konami to port), I'd be surprised if they made a major push into XBox games because the unit sales aren't there, and if people don't buy the consoles, Konami won't sell games, no matter how good.
WE6 is the most amazing sports game I've ever played and the PS2 gaming goodness in general will continue to roll as developers learn more and more how to produce high-quality games on the Emotion Engine.
Incidently, I scored a "Golden golden golden golden goal!" last night vs. Bayern Munich . . . one of the best gaming experiences in recent memory. WE6 is fabulous . . . only thing better would be WE6/PES2 in the USA.
Thanks KCET.
nickclubman 20-07-2002, 08:55:PM Obviously most of you guys (not all!) no nothing about what the Xbox is truly capable of, it can deliver the BEST graphics and smooth frame rates.
Yeah, the games, well, DOA2 is nothing graphics wise to DOA3, it blows it out of the water, but gameplay terms, very, very similar.
MSR and Project Gotham, PJ plays much better then MSR and has far superior graphics.
I would go on for ever and MGS2 on Xbox has more levels, enhanced graphics using features that the PS2 and even GC (but I don't think MGS2 is out on this system!!) at times can only dream of and the Bump Mapping feature makes enviroments and characters in any xbox game with it, look superb.
I could STILL say more, but hey guys, the Xbox-Live which will be coming soon is going to be the BEST online gaming EVER!!! Xbox also has a Hard Drive and you can put Music CD's in it, convert tracks to MP3's and play them in your games!!!!!! YOU ALSO HAVE LOADS OF SPACE TO SAVE GAMES!!!
Man, the PS2 is good, but can only be compared to the Dreamcast, like it was in like every magazine before the DC died.
The xbox is comparable to the GC, cause they do wicked graphics.
The PS2 doesn't offer very high quality resolution graphics! The 3D is okay though, but some games have occasional slowdown.

the_man 20-07-2002, 09:34:PM Hey nick, long time no see.
Not this again, 'my console is better than yours' arguments. I got a PS2 cos it had the game I wanted to play. I play it and boy do I enjoy it. Everything else (other games) is gravy.
