Arsenal bought today Gilberto Silva from my team, Atlético Mineiro. I've been watching this guy play since he was in America's younger teams, and everyone who saw him playing knew he was going to have a great future. Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro fought to buy him from América Mineiro, and fortunately, Atlético won.

He was the best defensive midfielder in the WC, IMO. And I can almost guarantee that he's going to bring technical AND financial return to Arsenal. The only reason that he was sold at such a low price(around 8.5 milion dollars) is that Atlético Mineiro is having lots of financial trouble lately.

We've signed him already? HOORAY! I saw him play in each of Brazil's WC games and he was great. I'm sure he will fit in and do great things. :D

They are getting silva as viera is going to be gone as soon as re-ale madrid get the funds.

Anyway he will be in for a tough time in the premiership, the game is much faster than Brasilian football (I know I support Flamengo).

He might have been the best at the WC, but that is because Roy Keane chose not to take part and patrick viera went home after 3 games.

He hasn't signed yet, although i would have thought he will, he is definately a good signing for Ł4.5 million i thought he was the most underated player in the Brazilian team, he played a ver unselfish role

Giovanni van Bronkhorst is not a happy camper right now. That was totally going to be his job.

Some numbers about Gilberto Silva in the WC(from arsenal.com):

The Brazilian ever-present was in fact the tournament's most accurate passer (of players at least qualifying for the second round), completing nearly 90% of all attempted passes.

Player Team Total Passes Accuracy
Gilberto Silva Brazil 307 89.6%
Paul Scholes England 238 89.1%
Scholes England 238 89.1%
Bastürk Turkey 226 88.5%
Torrado Mexico 242 88.4%

Another thing he has in common with Arsenal's midfield general is his tenacity and willingness to fight for possession. Gilberto Silva made more tackles than any of his Brazilian colleagues in the Far East as he sought to win back possession for the World champions.

Player Tackles Attempted Success Rate
Gilberto Silva 32 75%
Cafu 28 75%
Roque Junior 27 74%

Gilberto Silva also demonstrated good anticipation and reading of the game, with his tally of 11 interceptions bettered only by Germany's Christoph Metzelder in World Cup 2002.

Player Team Interceptions
Metzelder Germany 14
Gilberto Silva Brazil 11
Maldini Italy 10

Im from Belo Horizonte too, actually Im Kenshin neighbour.

I have no doubt that Gilberto Silva is one of the best players in his posission. And hes no star, he plays for the team, not for himself.

Speaking of new Arsenal logo, many Arsenal fans are so angry about the new logo. New Arsenal logo...means new Arsenal jerseys to buy. In fact, Arsenal fans dislike this new logo.
Money talks...again...

they've had that nike dreamcast kit for 2 seasons now ... and teams change their home kit every 2 seasons

Pay no attention to shearerm4, he has an inferiority complex when it comes to arsenal, and we arsenal fans here tend to leave him to burn in his hatred.
Well arsenal had to change their logo and kits because the dreamcast sponsorship was at an end or probably because no more dreamcast machines are being made, and to also allow them maximise the value of the arsenal brand it has been something that had been causing problems for the club for a no of years now.I think the trademark/patent arrangements were not done properly and this didnt give them the exclusive rights to market their products and/or choose who retails them, they couldnt take legal action against those who were illegally making/selling arsenal brand goods without the consent of the club and these people kept eating into the level of profits the club could have made. With the new logo they will have new trademark arrangements and can counter these problems whilst protecting the brand.

It is also true that some people didnt like the new logo, but it is a reflection of peoples initial resistance to change,it will grow on them and its in the best intrest of the club. I think the home kit is alright and i quite like it but im not so sure about the away kit :brow: :brow: :mambo: :mambo:

Where are all the Arsenal fans coming from all of a sudden? Before, we had like 3 Arse fans now we have like 11. Could it be that they won the double??? Could it be that they are glory hunters?????? Don't even try calling me a glory hunter because I've been supporting United for the most of my 14 years. They were the first football team I supported, because I wasn't really ever interested in football. I was more into cricket then.:mambo: :crazyboy:

Hey, I'm not calling you a glory hunter. I just find it ironic that everyone call foreign Man Utd fans who've been supporting the club for years, glory hunters, when all of a sudden Arsenal have this huge fanbase on the forums. I don't see any non English Arsenal fans being harrassed.

Relax, mate. There are nothing wrong if there are even 100 Arsenal fans suddenly arrive in this forum in 1 week. It's just some users find this forum and they log in as the way they wanna post.

Cheer up, there are so many Man Utd fans also in this forum.
