Oh yeah, baby! We have our very own Olisabede in athletics. His name is Francis Obikwelu, a typical portuguese name, and yesterday he won the silver medal on the 100m race, in the European Championships. He also broke the portuguese record for that distance.

I've have a strange feeling about this win, and I'm not the only one. The newspapers and tv's were all like "well...uh...great win for uh...Portugal. That was a great feat by the Nigerian-born athlete".

Actually, I'm touched by his story. He came to Portugal to participate in some teen athletics championship for his home Nigeria, but ran away from them. He ended up working as a mason in Algarve, but was miraculously discovered by a portuguese coach, got our nationality and now he's winning medals.

It's nice to see another European athlete (Portuguese/Nigerian-born) can at least compete in the European Championship. :D

Sounds like the US immigration officers need to visit Kenya and Ethiopia so we can win all the marathons, because apparently this strategy is completely acceptable.
