I love fifa yes even ping pong soccer and the small pitch but why the hell if football(US) basketball and baseball can have the name of every player on the back of the shirts why can't soccer. I thought after Euro 2000 that was definite but every screen shot is missing names on the back.

Does anyone know why? I wondered if it might be a legal thing?

Hey if EA is reading this please tell us and screw ISS its a lot of fun and i enjoyed being manchester season after season but its not Man United

EA is just lazy because they have no competiton in the PC soccer market

wanna know why?
think about it...EA is an American corporation, and not many people in the US care much about soccer. So EA doesnīt have to do big efforts about soccer games.
And thatīs why we donīt understand the big efforts and greater results of NHL and NBA - ice hockey and basketball are far more popular in the US!!

sglean,
re: "screw ISS its a lot of fun and i enjoyed being manchester season after season but its not Man United"

Erm...yes, in the master league when you start you have a generic roster and then you can buy players that correspond to real life ones....just in case you couldn't figure out who; Bekham, Coal, York, Skoles or Roy Keene were....

As for the names on the back of the jerseys in Fifa 2001 - I am as baffled as you - they got the FiFPro license to make the players look like their real life counterparts (hopefully they'll have NOTICABLE differential player models - like ISS), they'll have proper squad numbers but for some inexplicable reason - no names. Very very wierd - especially since the game looks incredibly beautiful otherwise (I'm talking about the PS2 version).

I also heard they are going to change the name from;
Fifa 2001 Major League Soccer
to
Fifa 2001 Advanced Pinball Simulator

But I could be wrong....

EA Sports is not American. It's Canadian.

Since EURO 2000 had names on the back of the jerseys I'm hope they will include them in FIFA 2001. It truly can't be that hard, in NHL 2000 when you create a player that players name is even on the back of the jersey's. We can only hope for the best, at least they have accurate jerseys with sponsors and etc. Those type of jerseys are even in the PSX version of FIFA 2001.

Why do they let CANADIANS make the game. It sould be made by and in Europe.

EA Canada made Fifa WC 98 and Fifa RTWC 98 - the best two in the series, although I think EA then shot and killed the programmers responsible and replaced them with idiots who've never seen a football match in their lives.

First of all Canada and America is not the same. I won't get anymore into that. Second of all as one of you mentioned above that the two best were made from EA Canada. The other 99 and 2000 series were made by sister companies in europe, enough said.

No, Fifa 2K was a Canadian production. The "Stars" games are made in Europe.
