View Full Version : FIFA 2003 Wishlist/Complaints Thread
Gerrard 17 10-08-2002, 07:27:AM this forum is a real mess. there is too much BS threads like- we want this, we wont that, why wont u put this into the game.
People, its TOO LATE anyway, but since you dont quite get it, here is your thread.
Any posts about what you want/dont want in FIFA 2003 outside of this thread will be deleted.
I hope you understand it, we want this forum to look good and it definately isnt good the way it is now.
Liternit 11-08-2002, 06:56:AM Here is my wish list: :D
1- Stop making FIFA EA, year after year its crap you might as well give up now ;)
playmate 11-08-2002, 09:54:AM in fifa 2002 whenever i edited a player whateva li'l thing then i wouldn't hear his name in the commentary. i want that changed.
i dunno if that was fixed in fif world cup 2002. i didn't buy that one .
hristostoichkov 11-08-2002, 05:02:PM Sorry but why a wishlist when the game is already done?
SB9Dragon 11-08-2002, 06:35:PM Some people can get it through their thick heads that there is no need for anymore wishlists posts so that is why K-Man made this thread so that they wouldn't fill the whole forum with stupid wishlists when it is way 2 late.... but I guess they can talk about things they hope will be in the game?
SB9Dragon 11-08-2002, 06:39:PM 4 Example: I hope that training is in the game, so that I could train with Inter all day long!!!! Also a training field, because real players don't train in the stadium easily. IF their is training then I hope they use colored vests not the home and away kits... also I hope that the fatigue and injury screen I was hoping about comes to life. A screen where every player is listed. Get this if after a player plays a game his fatigue would be at a certain percentage... lets say if a player played hard a game their fatigue would go down to 88% or something.... but in another colum, the injury colum they would have a color bar that shows if the player is healthy or not. Also longer injuries and more AI fouls.... those are things I want in the game!
pacman123 12-08-2002, 09:32:AM after reading a few articles about Fifa 2003, it sounds like its going to be an awsome game. I hope its nothing like fifa 2002 world cup. Fifa 2002 world cup was just...whats the word....CRAPPY . I hope this fifa 2003 will be better. peace
pivara 13-08-2002, 01:01:AM This time, without ofencing, without hard words, vote For or Against BALKAN (EASTERN EUROPE LEAGUE which should include teams from Croatia, Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Bosnia&Hercegovina, Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria...).
FOR!
:D
Internazionale 13-08-2002, 01:18:AM FOR
::shinji:: 13-08-2002, 01:19:AM Everyone's sick of these types of threads! Yes it would be nice to have a Balkan league, yes it would be nice if everyone had their favourite club in the game, but nobody can do a thing about it now exept make add-ons after the game is released, so please just shut the f*ck up already! We don't need a new thread about a Balkan league every day.. Plus there's a sticky thread where posts like this are supposed to go now!
You guys are so lucky I'm not a mod in this forum...
adizlaja 13-08-2002, 02:16:AM FOR!
Run DMB 13-08-2002, 02:23:AM FOR!
Gerrard 17 13-08-2002, 02:33:AM next time you post a thread that falls into this category outside of this sticky thread- i will delete it.
SB9Dragon 13-08-2002, 03:08:AM Just curious, but what is FOR? OH! u mean for the Balkan League idea... don't care:D

maybe you can wish for something outside the game like:
i wish my mom would get me fifa 2003. :p
it's still a fifa 2003 wish isn't it.
SB9Dragon 13-08-2002, 05:37:PM This is also a complain thread so, why do all the other EA games come out in August and FIFA in October? WTF is up with that.... that sux..... by the time ur playing it ur back in school and play like one hour a day..... but I also guess FIFA needs more time because it has more things..... but still!!! This is my idea.... have 3 crews working on FIFA per day for 8 hours each.... that way every good thing they want to do would be done and the game could come out earlier.... that would be sweet:D ;)
I know that EA is practically done with the creation of the game...but I really hope that they have improved the surroundings! The crowd animations for example...it would be awesome if they could have closeups on the crowd, like in the NHL series! The NHL series is lightyears ahead of FIFA when it comes to the crowd animations man!
SB9Dragon 13-08-2002, 08:51:PM Im not a mod or anything, but next time u should post these sorta posts in the Wishlist sticky thread at the top of the list of threads
iceboy 13-08-2002, 09:17:PM they should get the gameplay and AI right first :)
Dragoncity2002 14-08-2002, 01:42:AM Hey, man maybe thoes Pictures are from a beta version and will be updated,
and if it is not, there are so many ppl out there, that can make great Kits !!
PS, !!! GAMEPLAY IS EVERYTHING !!! Perfect Kits is a bonus !!! Wouldn't you say ?

i am disappointed
You guys should at least have the courtesy to look at a few thread titles before you post whatever's on your mind...not even half way down this page there's a thread exactly like this one...

Yes I also think that the gameplay is the most important thing. But good crowd animations etc. is very important for the feeling of playing the game! It feels more real...and that´s what I want! I wouldn´t wanna play a game with GREAT AI but without crowds etc. :mrpimp:
Slugger 14-08-2002, 11:37:PM It would be nice to have a goalie system....Right when a shot is taken u would switch to first or third person goalie and save the ball that way!
Silver_Boots 15-08-2002, 12:22:PM 1) Bring back the ''International Selection''! The section which was apart of the '98 game where u could customize international teams!
2) No more ''Numbered'' players like No.9 or No.27 ----Do their REAL names!!!
3) In the world cup game the passing is very difficult to faster and in the end wherever I hit it , it managed to find one of my players and i scored.......easily! VERY UNREALISTIC!
4) Bring back the section where u could just take penaltys! Again just like in the '98 game! That bit was alot of fun!
5) Make the tv camera closer so you can see real skill and how realistic the player faces are etc etc!
6) Make more skills to do! E.g Nutmeg

is it that hard to understand? :mambo:
SB9Dragon 15-08-2002, 05:53:PM Interesting stuff people, but IMO its all about the gameplay... so what if Man U don't have there latest kit? Big whup. So many people in the FIFA community can make awesome kits so it doesnt matter at all.

Goldfish 16-08-2002, 01:31:PM OK folks, listen: People want realism, right? And what kind of games are very realistic and sell a lot? Games like Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Outcast, and other shooting games. Now, what would you say to really remake the soccergames by combining the world of soccer with action game view? I mean: you press the up key and the player runs forward, and by seing with his eyes, and actually being that person having the ball, just steer with the mouse! Wouldn't it be great? This way you actually get down on the pitch, and everything would be completely different! The dribling would become much more accurate and so on. Finally, you would get close enough to other players to see the smallest detail, improving the graphical enjoying too. Naturally it's a little late for FIFA 2003, but give me some response, and if it's positive, we could try and contact EA and propose this.
SB9Dragon 16-08-2002, 05:21:PM IMO that idea would completely destroy the game and would help the game at all...

n_a_p_e .No way jose. That will ruin the whole game.

Realism means the AI of the opponents and the graphics.

there is already such a game on ps one: libero grande (think i got it around 1999)
SB9Dragon 18-08-2002, 04:48:AM Was it satisfactory, suck, or suck real bad?:D
pronewbie 18-08-2002, 11:57:AM There already is such a game available, albeit in beta stage, you can find it at pagn.net
It's a mmporg where 11 can actually vs another 11...
theCRO 18-08-2002, 06:37:PM Libero Grande was a crap game, it did have some solid gameplay and real shirts though.
The problem is, if it's 11-11 then everyone will want the ball, it'll be like little kids playing, all wanting to score.
It's a dumb idea.
Goldfish 19-08-2002, 01:47:PM Well, it was just an idea! Don't hang me for it! :kader: I think it would be much more realistic. Still, I havn't tried that game of yours, so.
SB9Dragon 19-08-2002, 05:23:PM It wasn't a bad idea, well.... it would destroy the game and turn it into an arcade sorta game. We don't want arcade. But the 11 v 11 would be interesting. But there would be so much lag!!! Just to shoot the ball it would take 30 seconds for it to leave the players foot and get into the net!:D

you could play it on a LAN.. maybe in fifa 2003 or 04, you have street soccer, so 5 a side.. will not lag. You played counterstrike on line right.....
anyway, namco's libero grande is a soccer simulation.. not for fifa lovers.
to goldfish, it's not a bad idea. my friends thought off playing soccer with half-life engine which is possible.
mr_jows 21-08-2002, 02:11:AM Just a couple of things I'd want:
1) In the past FIFA series it was practicly not possible to score from a free kick!! This is one thing that should be changed!
Remember ISS?? With a square that's moving (like when aiming with a real sniper gun) harder or slower (depending on players free kick ability)???
FIFA 2003 should have this!! Also with penalty's, throw-ins, goalkicks and corners. No player in this world is always accurate!! Of course players like Beckham, Frank de Boer, Pierre van Hooydonk, Del Piero etc. are quite accurate, but they don't get it always where they want it to!! This would make the strategy aspect in the game much more realistic!! Which players to take corners, which one to take penalty's, which one to take a free kick etc!! This is one thing that would make it more realistic!!
2) I would like to see a special FINISH button. When you're 1 on 1 with the keeper and press for example the F button, the player should try to score in a nice way (a lob, a dummy which makes the keeper fall before he actually shoots etc.). Of course the accuracy of the player drops with maybe 50 percent?? That's what EA Sports should think about.
3) Crowd songs and PRE-GAME FOOTAGE, like warming-up with music and some crowd shots, singing etc.
Also for example the AMSTERDAM ARENA lies near a airport, so sometimes planes fly over. Would be nice to hear something like that! Make us feel like we're really there!
4) Dynamic weather (as in Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 3). It could start raining during a match, or stop raining. Or some lightning.
5) A Stadium speaker. Like in NHL. In the second period a goal scored by [PLAYER NAME]
In FIFA it could sound like: In the 54th minute A.F.C Ajax takes the lead by a goal scored by nr.23.... Rafael van de Vaart!!
And then the crowd screams again!!
6) Boos when the opponent has posession of the ball. It would also be great when for instance a player from the opponent injures a player of your team, that the crowd is always booing!! when he is in posession. If a player of your team injures a player of the opponents team, the game should save that, so the crowd could boo at that player when your team play's against that team away. Then the commentators could react on that too. The crowd's still mad on him, because he seriously injured [NAME PLAYER] blablabla!
7) Use more scoring-crowd-sounds!! The crowds yeeeeeeaaah!! is different in all countries!! Just listen to matches in Holland, Germany, France, Italy and Spain!!
8) Maybe a possibility to hold someones shirt??? :P
9) Referees and linesman should have accuracy attributes too! This way you can be offside but the linesman won't flag!! This way you could lose points by a fault of the referee!! And in the way around, you could score a fair goal, but the referee won't allow it, cause the linesman saw something... So you would be f*ck*d by a linesman!!
10) Create a more realistic NET in the goals... It has (I think) only 5 frames.....?? These days the NET in the goals are flexible!
11) Make players really right or left footed. So when they shoot,(double tap D) they first put it to their "right" foot and then shoot!! More accuracy. (Press D for one sec) and the player will shoot from the position he is and the ball is, so less accuracy because of the players "wrong" foot. Players that are two legged
won't have this trouble and should be able to shoot from any direction.
12) Put the stadiums closer around the pitch. Like in England! In some countries (where hooligans are more "popular") you should put fences around the pitch! --> MORE DETAIL!!!
13) The gamespeed should only be in two modes!
a ) Realistic mode --> The real deal, slow, with nice possibility to really build it up. Passing, passing, passing and a long ball. Not just pass pass pass pass goal! Press SPACE or another button to switch from : possesion, pressure!! Possesion is of course slow, with accurate passing and pressure is faster, with more long balls, and faster movement!! Keep going!!! :P
b Arcade mode --> Which is just faster gameplay for guys that need some fast action!! More like the above PRESSURE mode, but then even faster!!
14) The AI of the goalkeepers!! It would be nice to select MANUAL KEEPER / AUTOMATIC KEEPER. With manual keeper you'll automaticly be your keeper so you could run to a ball for yourself and shoot it away!! So you can prevent a corner etc! A (HIGH DUCK+DIRECTION), S (LOW DUCK+DIRECTION) D (JUMP BACKWARD for a high lob or something! and W (FORWARD JUMP for boxing a ball out of the sixteen with a corner or something!
When the opponent takes a corner you should be able to keep for yourself, like grabbing the ball and directly shoot it towards your striker for a quick counter attack!! WOULD BE NICE ISN'T IT?? :P
Maybe when on MANUAL keeper, make it slowmotion like in NHL. So you could and react better! Just an idea!!
=============================================
I can go on for ages, but I'll stop right now, cause I'm going to sleep now!! When I come up with some new things, I'll let ya guys know!
Think I'll be dreaming that I'm working for EA Sports and that I'm the PROJECT LEADER of there upcoming FIFA 2004 game!! THAT GAME SHOULD BE GREAT THEN!!! ;)
Something personal to EA SPORTS:
Contact me EA SPORTS please!!! I'm sure I and many many more on this forum could help you guys create a game KONAMI would be jealous off!! Invite some of us during the production process!
I'm almost done with my bachelors degree, so why not?? Ghe! :P

SB9Dragon 22-08-2002, 12:24:AM If all those ideas where in it.... then d*mn!:D That would be football:p They could rename the series from FIFA to This is Truly Football:D
AhmedK 22-08-2002, 03:34:PM well it is dumb to wish for something thats already out anyway ea never reads anything from the fans they hate football fans sometimes i wonder if they know anything about it like......Why the heck is isreal in wc but not holland?? or like why brazil is in 2002 but not the virgin islands:kader: what a world it is
Anyway in the best soccer game maybe 2004?It would have the managerial debt of the tcm serois sometimes i would rather be organizing the team and injuries and the sort but would be limited to transfers and managment,Also the ability to edit team like in 2002 and 2001 and of course the graphics always get better but the sidelines should be more alive is there really a need for guards surronding the away squad like in 2003? Anyway i would be very happy if they make it more like tcm why not by tcm? well..................tcm is a managerial game and fifa is a playing game
but of course this will never happen you ethier buy tcm or fifa YOU MUST GIVE UP ALL YOUR MONEY i think it would be easier to just practice 23 hours a day and make your national team then getting a good game from fifa
Eyradir-ND 23-08-2002, 01:01:PM Tourneys for multiple players behind one comp!
(like in fifa2001)!
night 23-08-2002, 03:52:PM i got something in my wishlist that might not be too late...

I would recommend this too, but there's only one problem. EA SPORTS have paid rights to use this name (FIFA) for their game.
These rights allow EA SPORTS to use real team names, player names, stadium names as well as their team logo's etc. So more important is what we want. Do we want fictional teams, stadiums and player names, or the real deal??
That's why EA Sports for example aren't allowed to use the name of The Championsleague, UEFA Cup etc, because those names are property of the UEFA.
So you might guess that FIFA wants it's name in the game in return (as well as the fairplay logo and so on, and so on)........
I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do.....

night 24-08-2002, 07:46:PM ok... i agree... whatabout inventing a name...?? :crazyboy:
optikal 24-08-2002, 08:56:PM Not sure if it has been covered before, but will we have an option to select multiple teams while starting a league? I love to play with my friends being on the same league as different teams, and we have been ripped of that option since fifa2002 (I think).
If the option is not there, i would be really disappointed.

#1 Stunna 25-08-2002, 04:28:AM Why not for the next game EA takes off the Korean and Israeli leagues and instead put in the Argentine and Mexican leagues cuz personally, I never use those other leagues, and that way we would have the best European leagues and 4 of the best leagues from the Americas, MLS, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
Also, EA just came out with a college (American) football game and depending on how the team is doing, the stadium either fills up or has only half the stadium filled up. Also, towards the end of the game if the home team is losing, the stands start to become empty. I dont know if this is so for the new FIFA game but if not then for 2004 they should do this.
Plus, that college football game has over 100 stadiums, and they all look cool, so why does FIFA only have a few?

U DON'T BUT OTHERS DO... dont be so self-centered:D ;) Have u heard about licensing? BTW, all EA have to do is buy a license from NCAA and then they can make everything in that league.... But FIFA is made up of tons of leagues!!!!! Forget it, I just have to repeat this message so many times to sooooo many different people:kader:
GoHawks4 25-08-2002, 09:34:AM NCAA stands for National Collegiate Athletics Association. He makes a valid point about EA caring about some games more than others.
I have another idea from NCAA/Madden, why not have sliders to adjust custom weather?
akaidai 25-08-2002, 06:09:PM fifa must improve the game transitions inorder to become smooth footie game and offcource WE6 gameplay alike!
SB9Dragon 26-08-2002, 05:04:AM I know what NCAA is man...;) but there are many, many sports that sport that name... like NCAA could mean basketball, soccer, football... the list goes on and on....!!!:D
Soccerates 26-08-2002, 10:19:PM Hope fifa 2003 has some much more realistic net fx when you score.
like when you score a low goal the ball in real life climbs from the ground up into the net, in previous fifa games it has never happened.
when you score a goal in the side netting it never rolls over to the back netting, even worser when it first hits the side net and then hits the back net, the back net won't even move.
So hope this will be changed, will be much better and REALISTIC
night 27-08-2002, 04:29:AM spot on.. totally agree

I know this might be a bit far-fetched and a bit late for FIFA 2003 but what do you people (i'm talking to you too, EA Sports!) think about a career mode in FIFA?
Just think about it - no matter how much they (you, EA Sports!) improve the graphics, animations, stadiums, physics, game play and AI (although those last two are of critical importance), you can NEVER experience what it is to be a professional football player if you always control the whole team.
Now think about a game where you can start as a up 'n coming hot young prospect (this would entail a Creation Centre, EA Sports! - preferrably with a face editor so you can import your own faces like NBA Live) and get offered a trial by a regional club. There you develop ur skills, which would be a dynamic rating system like in Total Club Manager 2003. (This is where a training mode would be ideal).
As you improve your various skills according to your playing position, you cement a position in the starting line up. Then as you accrue man-of-the-match performances one after another, you get noticed by a second-division club in need of a consistent performer to help it gain promotion to the Premier Division. You're given a your first substantial contract and further improve your skills thru better training techniques. You get called up for your first international duty in a few friendlies.
The season ends and your club gets promoted to the top flight. Half-way thru the next season and your club is struggling for survival. You again get called up for international duty in a few World Cup qualifiers, where you pick up an injury, sidelining you for a few weeks.
Your form is sporadic at first after you come back, but you start to consistently improve towards the business end of the season and eventually help your team to a mid-table finish. Your country also qualifies for the World Cup.
Your market value skyrockets along with your reputation and soon you field offers from some of Europe's powerhouses. You eventually agree to terms with a premier club in one of Europe's top leagues. Here you improve further as you train harder, but it is hard to crack a spot on the starting line-up. Eventually you are given a chance and even get to play a few games in Europe.
Your team, however, is knocked out of the Champions League in a tense quarter final, but you play a vital role in securing your team's domestic league title.
In the World Cup, your country puts up a heroic performance, but gets knocked out in the knock-out stages. You do, however, provide one of the tournament's highlights by scoring a memorable solo goal.
End of a long and arduous season - but next year's another story.
Well, as for the ending - that's entirely up to you! You could be a club stalwart, a cashed-up nomad, a 100-game national hero, or your career could be prematurely ended by a crippling injury which would leave you drunk and broke by the side of a road.
Maybe not that dramatic... :D
Seriously, wouldn't that be a cool idea for a new game mode - or even an entirely new game?? I've only ever once read anyone refer to having a career mode in FIFA. Isn't this the TRUE experience of the game?
Sure, it's not viable to just control one player in a 11-player game - but i'm sure someone will think of something (again, EA Sports - come on!) If there is a will, there is a way!! NBA Live has a feature where you can lock onto one player (i dunno why they won't do a career mode there), but then again it's easier with a 5-on-5 ball game. But that could be a good starting point.
Lastly, the benefits of such a type of game would be many. Namely, with the game being more player-centric the camera would be more centralised to that particular player (with possibly a second view to show where the ball is) this would be a great chance to show off all those new graphical advancements, rather than the static full stadium-view. What's more, you can select your own celebrations once you score a goal, like in NHL.
Please post all opinions and suggestions you may have. I've done my job in getting the ball rolling, now it's up to you guys. (YOU TOO, EA SPORTS!!)
p.s. i got this idea after i read about a new game called 'Pro Race Driver' by Codemasters (for all those racing fans out there). They call it a 'CarPG' and it does look and sound damn good. If you're like me and like sports games with a difference, go check it out.

xsf27 28-08-2002, 06:39:PM First of all, I just wanna respond to the responses to my previous wish(?) about a Football RPG mode where the main concerns were about improving the gameplay first before embarking on such a mode.
Controlling the whole team requires a completely different game dynamic than controlling one player. No matter how realistic you make the existing game, you're gonna have to start from scratch if you wanna do what i'm proposing. In my view, it's gonna have to be a totally new game.
You simply cannot make a true Football RPG if you control the whole team - i foresee these problems:
- has anyone heard of a whole team transfering to another team?
- EVERYONE's gonna feed the ball to 'The Man' and he's gonna end up a 10-goal hero (not that realistic), and
- team strategies would go out the window.
(Oh, and EA Sports, I've even thought of a name for it - 'FIFA Football Hero' - royalty payments apply :D )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now onto my new wishes:
I've heard that EA Sports are gonna include match highlights at the end of each match for FIFA 2003.
I know it's just a superficial presentational matter and will do ****-all to the gameplay, but wouldn't it be nice if they will just take it to the next level and include a weekly round wrap-up.
I'm not talking about having a coupla cheesy commentators blabbling on about the results, but having a coupla cheesy commentators actually presenting us with randomly generated videos (or pics at least!) of brilliant goals, amazing saves, man-of-the-match awards, league top-scorer, etc. and update news (injuries, suspensions, transfers, etc.) about the teams.
This would mean incorporating a Dynamic Team Management AI which would execute sensible and realistic transfers according to their needs and budget.
This would make the game actually seem like it's evolving and responding as you play and not as is you're playing against a static dummy! (right now, it's the equivalent of f*cking a blow-up doll - it 'aint the same!!)
Just a final note before i go - i just wanna plead with all of you serious football gamers out there to delve into your minds and really think about what is missing from this game that would make it more REALISTIC and INTUITIVE.
That's all folks - thanks for reading ;)

Refrees - they already make a lot of mistakes, but it would be great to have "acting" button (like in Fifa RTWC). I also miss agrresive foul which's been included in previous versions but was recently kicked out of the game.

i know what u mean, and it sounds tight! But it should be like previous FIFA games where you control the whole team, and if your player does good and gets bought, you then control that other team. Cuz controlling just one player would be boring.
iceboy 31-08-2002, 02:11:PM Maybe we can have foul throws like in real life... FIGO doesn't know how to do a proper throw in... :D (you guys saw the UEFA Super Cup?)
Sukur54 04-09-2002, 12:30:AM they should let us drive the team bus so i can drive it and maybe crash it and kill the whole team and rebuild a young and strong one??:p

I saw, it was hilarious, I fell right outta my Lazy Boy chair (flipped over the back side!:D );)
Ronaldoisagod9 06-09-2002, 12:20:PM IMPROVEMENTS:
PASSING IS BETTER ANIMATED...MUCH BETTER DRIBBLE MOVES THAT ACTUALLY WORK...HALFTIME AND END OF GAME HIGHLIGHTS (AMAZING), PLAYER NAMES, PLAYER REALISM (SPECIAL MOVES, MOVEMENTS...SO THEY SAY, HOPE IT'S TRUE), LIKE 20 STADIUMS, MORE REALISTIC LOBBING, TEAMS OF COMMENTATORS, MORE LEAGUES AND TEAMS...AND...
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT...DEFENDERS DEFEND JUST LIKE IN THE REAL GAMES....THEY BACK AWAY WHEN UR BREAKING TOWARDS THE GOAL...NOT LIKE IN OTHER FIFA GAMES...WHEN THEY CHARGED U IMMEDIATELY, EVEN IN YOUR OWN SIDE, WHEN THEY ARE THE ONLY PERSON BETWEEN YOU AND ABOUT 30YDS OF FREE SPACE...THANK GOD!
AND I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS^^^
THIS IS THE BEST THING...BECAUSE THEY SAY U CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A BACKING DEFENDER BY SWITCHING DIRECTIONS VIA DRIBBLE MOVES, AND KEEP HIM TANGGLED. NOW THAT'S REALISTIC.
erno_kivinen 06-09-2002, 03:19:PM Right. People want face editors, PA announcers and shirt holding in FIFA 2003.
The FIFA games have been terrible for some years now, and all I'm expecting this time is good gameplay. It would be great to be able to pass the ball exactly where you want and to shoot even if you're not directly facing your opponent's goal.
The idea of players making runs in FIFA 2002 was good, the only problem was that every run was towards the opposing goal. Also, when a player passes the ball he stays put after passing, instead of running into space. Something has to be done about movement.
That's pretty much it, but I know those things I said are not going to happen. Not for another 10 years or so, not in FIFA.
rahulmvora 06-09-2002, 11:07:PM other than gameplay i also think :-
1)there should be more celebration after winning a match and losing a match .
2)there should also be exchanging of shirts after the game .
3)there should also be different emotions expressed by the players after missing a goal , offside etc fighting with referre ... getting a yellow card ...something like that ......
TroyMcLore 09-09-2002, 11:40:PM AI!!!! Thats the worst thing of fifa games in my oppinion, players group together, they may make runs in 2002, but they're not intellagent runs, and they're no helpful. When you put you're team with the arrow right forward or back there's no difference. Defenders hold to higher line, strikers hang round the edge of the box, and when you put a cross in there's only one person to aim for!
Thats not all, but if they improve that they're onto a winner, it looks like that some of them are improved.
Now for more details:
- Passing, you can't have really short passes, so if you have a player who IS going on a good run, then you can just tap it forward and they're through. But the ball is always over hit.
- Shooting, needs to be completly re-vamped, the one in 2001, was better than 2002! But still not great.
- Difficulty modes, when u play higher skill modes, they are faster than you, and stronger than u even if u have say Romedahl rated 7 against Blanc rated 2 for speed! As you get better the opposition should simply be better skilled, be more as a team, and have much better awarenessm, not double all they're attributes. Personally I never play on pro, or world class, cos I can't beat them by playing good football. As thats what the game should be about, playing better football, not better Fifa!
- Tackles in wc 2002 are fine, but heading thing should be like fifa2002, i liked that:jambo: and hack button and dive button should be back, as that is a massive:kader: part of the modern game.
- Gk's are generally quite good, but I'd like them to stand on the edge of their area, or further up when u is attacking.
- Its great that their releasing their out-of-game creation center, and that they've done minor details like cycle shorts, extra flags, prem league badges, number on shorts, names onshirts, gk jerseys, and also that they've dramatically increased graphics, even from wc2002!
But things like ring-finger-plasters on carlos are ridiculas, its not neccesary yet, the graphics are still a few years from photographic.
If they get the gameplay and AI right though I'll be happy, then they can concentrate in years to come on minor improvements.
Thanks if you read it, I know the games probably finished by now, but so far what we know is alright!
erno_kivinen 11-09-2002, 01:37:PM It was said that this thread is a mess so I guess I can make another post..
I really hope that I will be able to score a goal from outside the penalty area in open play in FIFA 2003.
I also hope that computer-controlled defenders will clear the ball when needed, in FIFA 2002 you could often whack the ball into the area, wait for a defender to pick it up, then tackle him with your striker and have an easy tap-in.
Those two things are very important considering gameplay. Even more important would be that passing the ball would not take around two seconds every time and that the awful shooting system from FIFA 2002 would be scrapped.
Unfortunately, after reading about people wanting improvement in graphics, I feel as though the game will be one that looks great but plays terrible.
bdincer 11-09-2002, 04:51:PM They need to make some adjusting heading and the ball control when the ball is in the air. AI usually prefers the chest the ball down when it should head the ball in from the cross. CPU closes to fast and no time to chest ball down. In real life no striker will attempt to chest it down when you are in six-yard box.
EA definitely needs to changes this.
Corner Kicks: There is not enough players in the box. I am not sure when EA going to get this right. I don’t think they really watch real football games, so they don’t realize how many players in the box during corner kick. We should have the ability to commit at least 6 players in the box.
TroyMcLore 11-09-2002, 11:01:PM Yeah! I forgot to mention the corners and other set pieces. You should be able to organise how you're players are set about.
ie. Liverpool: (corner kick)
Dudek
Henchoz and Carragher on half way
Hamann on edge of the area.
Owen and Diouf in middle.
Babbel on far post, hyypia on near.
Gerrard at back of area.
Riise taking, with Murphy going short!
Only an example! but thats what you should be able to do!
mufc_daddy 14-09-2002, 05:13:PM I dont know if this has already been mentioned plus i cant be bothered to look through all of the threads/ posts to find out. But has anyone any news regarding if there will be a limit on the amount of team management settings that you can change? Because on Fifa 2002 you could only edit 25 teams max and that sucked until Fed2002 came out. Also editing players had a limit too, which sucked!!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody know anything regarding this issue? I hope Fifa 2003 has a larger limit!!!
TroyMcLore 15-09-2002, 02:37:PM That all come later, it's a bit early at this stage.
Falkirk 23-09-2002, 06:59:AM It's been mentioned, but i'll mention it again: Career Mode. Must have CAREER MODE. I like being about to take a small team and quailfy them for Europe and then actually be able to play them the next season in the Cup, without having to create a Custom Cup game.
Of course with that come Promotion and Relegation. Whether or not playing in the 1st div is possible, it still needs to be there.
Tan7d 23-09-2002, 05:53:PM A little story.
A long time ago ,(about 91,on age of 15) I used to have a quest .To find a real soccer game for my Amige. On a shop I saw Kick off 2. That was .It was almost perfect ,as you could make every move you think. It was then.
After years ,on the beginning of the 3d soccers era ,it came FiFa. 97.It was the best?
No ,it wasn’t as KO2 but it was playable. Then it came Fifa 98(maybe the best fifa) .It was also good but automatic(and every fifa is.).Were was the fantasy of the soccer?
The strategy and the pasion of a good soccer game? Every thing was automatic, pass ,pass ,long pass ,shoot goal. That was. And it was for years.
One day I try a football game with the name of IssPro. On psx. It was good really good but diffical.(I coulden image how good was on the first game). So I touk it to play at home on my Pc (I don’t have a PSX ,and I use Connectix VGS to play PSX titles).I start playing and playng and playing. What a game. It was a heaven on the soccer gamming situations. I was filling my emptynes for soccers games to refull and from this time I was the most hard core of Iss Pro ,and now PES.
So what can I ask from EA? Nothing my frends because I don t care.
But I can ask something from Konami :
PES PC VERSION
windtalker 23-09-2002, 06:49:PM It would be cool if goalkeepers could get yellow and red cards.
