Few footie sequels have been as hotly anticipated as Pro Evolution 2 and judging by the almost complete version we've seen at ECTS, all the signs are that it's going to spark a real soccer revolution on the PS2.
Although the same hardcore footie gameplay remains unchanged, virtually other every facet of PES 2 has been refined or redesigned to become the ultimate playable soccer experience. In-game shooting and passing have been slightly tweaked to make them more playable, while three distinctive dribbling styles have been developed to help you beat your man in the last ten yards. Over 25 characteristics and attributes give each player a really individual feel and a new player create features allows you to reproduce all your club's latest big name signings/no-hoper donkeys (delete as appropriate).

You can customise your club's kit and team badge and pre-season begins early with a brand new training mode to help you sharpen your player's skills. The Master League mode, which allows you to follow their fortunes over an entire season, has also benefited from many new additions including a simultaneous cup competition, an extra third division, new contract options and an emphasis on squad rotation to protect your stars over the course of a long hard season.

In action, PES 2 looks simply sensational and plays like an absolute dream. The new PES 2 season is due to kick off next month, but in the meantime you'll just have to content yourself with this latest gallery of gorgeous grabs which feature David Beckham blasting in a few winners.

Do you know what the minor additions are?

BTW some weeks ago you said you make new gameplay-movies... did you already found time to start making them?

The usual addtions to gameplay. Better player movements and stuff like that and the ball in the European releases always feels lighter than the WE ball. The changes are not going to be drastic, but good enough such that if you play PES2 you won't touch WE6 again. Major changes don't happen until the WE releases which are the actual releases of the game.

About the gameplay vids, I've made quite a bunch, nobody to host them tho. :(

I read some suggetions in the topic you started for that; wasn't there something for you?
What about http://www.50megs.com/ ?

I once made a search on the net for "free webspace" and found some sites which were in fact linkpages for free webspace, connected with a search engine with parameters to find exactly what you look for.
Maybe you can find something overthere...

The difference between WE 5 and PES was big, wasn't it?

Depends on what you mean by big. Big enough to make you drop WE5 like a hot potato, but the tweaks were in gameplay. Just like PES2's changes will be gameplay tweaks. Changes in grafx, PEx has the slimmer players. Changes in ball physics, PEx has the lighter ball compared to WE.

This is very confusing. What exactly do people want from PES2? Do they expect to have Champions League in it or someting? Keep it all in perspective. KonamiTyo releases their game in two places; Japan (and surrounding nations) then Europe. When they do this, they assume (if you are in Japan) that the last game you played was WExFE. So that when you get your hands on WE(x+1) you will be blown away. Same for Europe, they expect you to pe playing PES still, then when you get your hands on PES2 you'll be blown away.

Due to mods, hacks, whatever, people can play Konami's latest greatest wherever they are. So those in europe that are playing WE6, well, PES2 was meant for you. All in all (as I mentioned before) once you play PES2, you will burn WE6/PES whichever you have been playing, cos the game will be that much better.

If you think PES2 is not a big enough improvement on WE6, wait for WE7 next year.

Played it today at ECTS, only got to play 2 games (won both, of course) coz of the queues and my aching back  , but here's what i thought...

It seems a lot smoother, that is, the transition from animation to animation is better, and there's no jitter from one frame to another. When you use super cancel, the player automatically transitions into the direction you're pointing, rather than stopping and starting again as they do in WE6.

Goalies seemed better positioned, not every diagonal shot i took went into the opposite corner.

Ball physics seem more, not random exactly, just real. The ball seemed to get caught in people's feet and richochet around like it should do, rather than one player being able to have control over the ball and dribble through players. Rebounds seemed to be a bit more varied too. I hit the bar with Davids (him with power on 98 or somethign stupid), and it absolutely cannoned off the bar back out past the D. The ball sometimes looped straight up too, the two players below it jockying for position, hadn't seen that before in WE6.

Seemed about the same speed as WE6, and i couldn't find a speed option in the options.

Commentary is better, but i'd still prefer japanese, and i couldn't hear it all that well anyway.

Players seem to now kock the ball into space if they've got it more than they did before. If you intercept a ball and you're free (Overmars i love you), their first touch was really quite far ahead of them. Didn't happen in the box tho.

Few new animations for players rolling around on the floor.

If you haven't played WE6 yet, sell your copy of PES NOW before it's worth 2p. Once you get PES2, it'll sit gathering dust, i guarantee it - although it'll take you a while to adjust, as we all did moving from PES > WE6.

I only played it a bit (more tomorrow probably), so anything that isn't in the final game, don't blame me for.

Well to be honest, I don't really care about the European version of the game. Don't get me wrong, it is not that I don't care about it, it's just that my system is NTSC and when you patch these games, a big part of the bottom of the screen gets cut off.

Unless there is a new PAL to NTSC patch that solves this problem, I don't think I'll be playing PES2.

I have to say I am glad that some people are reporting some improvements in PES2 compared to WE6. Because a lot of people complained about PES not being as good as WE5, specially the ball physics.

I am really looking forward to J-League WE6. Even though you don't get international teams, the game just feels a lot better than the World Soccer versions. Although only cosmetic, it's very cool to see the teams with "correct" kits and sponsors.

There is also freeloader (still not released) for gamecube if there is no American version of PES 2 for Gamecube and you can play with English version of PES 2 on NTSC Gamecube, if you don't want J-League version.

I want some news about Gamecube version
