I'm still not convinsed, Spain aren't the team they used to be. They have gone down in quality, much like all teams do in some time or another.

Germany will defeat England. You know why? Because Germany realized how bad they were and are doing something about it. England still thinks they are great, while in fact they are quite weak. How is England gonna deal with Zickler, Jancker and Bierhoff(when he comes back) up front? Lets not forget England won Germany by a score of only 1-0 at Euro 2k. And I recall Germany hitting the post once.

What about the German defence? It sUcKs! And friendlies don't count!! If they did then our results against Argentina and Brazil would mean we were on par with them! 0-0, 1-1!

We'll deal with Janker and Ziegler the same way we did at Euro 2000. And with a better squad I hope.

During Euro2k, Germany was missing their star player Bierhoff, and also Zickler wasnt there. They will be back. Also Germany's defense did suck but that was because of Matthaus, he is gone now. Also, Jorg Heinrich is back. He started for Fiorentina in Serie A for the past few years. Scholl is also in top form lately. Add to that, Germany has players who play in the English League, England has none that play in Germany or any other league outside of Britain except for Macca. With their new coach and motivation I am sure Germany will prevail. Note, I am not even German.

Sorry to burst your bubble Shearer, but Keegan said that he's not going to radically change his squad from the one that belly-flopped at Euro 2000.

And I wouldn't go bitching about how old OUR squad is when the geriatric Germans are ancient!

I have firm faith that Keegan will make the changes he needs to make. He has to. Lets just wait and see what happens with our friendly against France next month.

I know we beat Germany and that was great, but even then we didn't dominate and we lost our other two games.

Despite what the FA thinks, I don't believe Keegan is the man for England - I'd love to be wrong, but we'll be big trouble if he picks the same side and tactics for our qualifying campaign that he did for Euro 2000.

Besides, Germany aren't the only threat, Finland and Greece aren't going to roll over and die either. I think we have the individuals to easily win the group, but we need a manager that can pick the best 11 and the best formation and tactics for them....which is easier said than done.

if you've seen the squad spain played this match you'll probably won't recognize more than 3 or 4 players(unless u follow all liga teams really well)
this is amainly "experimental" squad,mostly first caps!

so don't draw conclusion about mighty germany or england!

I really am not worried. I do have problems with Greece....but more Finland. They beat Norway 3-1 in a friendly. Greece drew with Switzerland 2-2.

Success should have more to do with the players than the manager. I don't think a change AGAIN will do us any good.

Guys first of all....FRIENDLIES MEAN NOTHING!!!

Germany can win 10-1 and it doesn't mean a thing! Gemrany showed biiig weeknesses in EURO 2000. I think England,Greece and Finland can all beat Germany!

Now my country (Greece) is looking damn good. Machlas (Striker) is out but now that gives 21 year old Lambros Choutos the chance o start. Let me tell you this kid is awsome! The Greek under-21 NT beat the Swiss NT 3-1! And Choutos scored 2 goals! He also scored a goal in the 2-0 win against Romania. This kid is good in the air,VERY fast,and can finish. He will give that "old" German defense a run for there money.

I was kinda dissapionted to see us Draw with the Swiss,then again our Coach put in alot of younsters at half time when we were up 2-1. Then Yakin scored a goal off of a deflection. The Swiss coach said Greece was the better side,qiucker and played better defense.

I can't wait till the game Sept 2,in Germany! I think Greece can steal a draw 1-1....

You don't know the reason why Germany sucked at EURO 2000! The players were rebelling against the coach so it is obvious they couldn't win!

Just to remind you how lucky England was in that game... Germany was dominating! Yes, even this so called "geriatric" squad dominated England and only lost unluckily!

And don't forget the new team is much younger and has the will to take revenge! You will see that...

Anyone who says Spain had just an experimental team is stupid! Are we looking for excuses? The German team also played with this lineup for the first time!

It was just a friendly, yes! But Spain didn't play like they wanted to lose that match! It was a tough fight and both teams played very aggressively!

So England, you are afraid of Greece and even Finland? Haha, you should be afraid cos Germany and Greece will qualify for WC 2002! England will stay home and keep on dreaming of 1966...

germany are always a HUGE force in football, england had NEVER been!
in EURO2000 Germany had problems..now they got over it and they're ready to kick some a$$.
English ppl still think they're good and they can win championships...when are they going to realize that there aren't enough talents in their team because most of them play in England, the best player in Euro2000 for England was mcManaman before he got injured, look how he was good after going to Spain...
and if the premiership was any good, it wouldn't have been dominated by ManUtd since it started...

I'm with Shez. Send them abroad, and they will learn. Keep them in England and they will get used to a poor long-ball style around inferior team-mates. Send them to the best - Italy and Spain. McManaman has a point in not wanting to come back to England - look at the player he is now compared to his previous best period in 1996. Robbie Keane will improve at Inter, and if there is a god, Beckham will go to Milan and finally learn how to improve his work-rate so he can work the right wing in a 3-5-2. So this is the plan for World Domination By England:

Deport The Players!

Last time England played Greece the result was nigh-on embarrassing for the Greeks. While there are some good new players coming through, I don't believe that they are good enough to finish ahead of England or to even force a draw. The real threat to England and Germany comes in the form of Finland, not Greece, no matter what the Greek zealots say.

Well guys you have to admit that Greece is an up-and-coming power in football.If you don't believe me,let me remind you that the Greek under 21 NT finished second in Europe two or three years ago.Now is time for some of these players to play for our national team.As you propably know Mahlas is injured,so you will see one of our youngers playing in his position.I am talking about Choutos.This kid will impress everyone who will watch him playing.I believe that after our first game against Germany everyone will talk about him.However,there are many other players from that team.If our coach give a little more playing time on Karagounis,who is one of the best greek players in this period,we will talk about a team that can defeat everyone{of our group}.
Finally,I want Drinky UKSN to tell me why he thinks Finland is better than us.I hope that his answear won't be :Litmanen,Finland-Norway:3-1.

PS The last time we met was in 94' I believe (6 years ago), and the score was 5-0 to England,the game was in England and was a friendly. I think I remember that game,Greece only passed midfield only once. LOL But then again Greek Players and Football has gotton better...

Take time out to watch a Finland game next time theres one on one of your TV stations or Eurosport. Highly organised, flowing football, Finland play as a team with some outrageous pieces of skill and some good individual players - Litmanen is only one of their good players.

I'm not underestimating Greece by any means - I've said in the last few months (if you'd been following these forums) that Greece are one of the good up-and-coming sides in Europe and this group will be far from straight forward for the two favourites to qualify (England and Germany). However, from what I've seen, Finland are a better side than Greece - though that is not a put-down of Greece. Think about it.

First of all I have to say that I don't believe that Greece can beat Germany in their
home .However,I believe that we can beat England in England!Let me explain you why.England can become a great team If Keagan resign his position and If the english players stop behaving as football stars.If you want to know the player that I liked most in Euro 2000 from England was Scholes.Neither Beckam nor Shearer.And you know why?Because he is the only english player that runs from the first minute of the game till the end.But there is another reason that makes me believe that we can defeat England.Instead of Germany,that realised their mistake and they are trying to set up again,English players believe that it was just a bad day or bad luck or something like this.So they will underestimate us [as Chris said} and then we will be able to spring the surprise.
