View Full Version : Confirmed-ronaldo to Real Madrid
-William- 01-09-2002, 01:57:AM MARCA (a well-known spanish sports newspaper) just confirmed that Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player... As a Real Madrid fan i dont know if I should be happey or sad but I really didnt like the idea of bringing a none-spanish player because we already have Morientes and Portillo...
Also their could be some problems with Morientes because he feels he has been treated unfairly (CM ;) )
Heres the link for the news

Internazionale 01-09-2002, 11:41:AM I wish Ronnie's curse injuries would be spreaded at Real Madrid.
Thank GOD that TRAITOR is finally GONE from Inter !!!!
Internazionale, WHY is Ronaldo a traitor? The man has the right to play where he wants.
It annoys me more that Real Madrid can keep spending.
Some years ago they were many hundreds of millions in the red figures and every other "normal company" in every other country would have been declared bankrupth, but the banks in Spain didn't dare to do that, afraid as the were for a riot.
I understood Real sold their training-complex to satisfy the banks, but they still bought Zidane, Figo and now they bougth Ronaldo. This isn't fair competition for the other clubs in the world who can't spend like this.
For instance, a medium professional club in Holland, NAC Breda is on the virge of bankrupthy because the are only 10 million Euro in depth. I know, they have not Madrid's merchandizing or their amount of spectators, but every home-match it's a sold out! I think they are financially healthier then Real Madrid....
I think it's time for the FIFA to make rules, how you financial situation must be, to get a licence....
Real Madrid-fans at this forum, I am NOT against Real Madrid; in fact I love watching their nice, skillfull and technical style of play.
I just can't stand that Real is permitted to shamelessy buy all players they want where others simply would go bankrupth with the same financial situation... :(

Either you don't know real financial situation or your misinformed because in 2000 a little man named florentino perez came in and took control of the club and cleared all they're debts and ever since they've become very rich and dept free. Plus do you know how much money they made from the merchandising of those transfers.
The part about Ronaldo being a traitor is stupid because he has a contract and inter have to respect it because if there was no contract he wouldn't have been at inter anymore.

What I have heared is that he is the man who sold the training complex, right? But new rumours I heared was that Real got in new financial trouble after buying Zidane, is that correct?
I can understand they make a awful lot of money with merchandizing, but also they have to spend equally much money for paying the wages of the players :)

jigger37 01-09-2002, 02:59:PM Some of the things im reading above is just hilarious, its almost like saying if you have money dont spend it just because others dont have it(it isnt fair competition that some people can drive flashy sports cars and others cant) you cut your clothes according to ur size, money doest have to be the end all and be all of things. If some clubs are not financially potent there are creative ways of remaining in the game you, dont have to pay over the top wages to players/transfer fees, financial mismanagement is what is causing the financial problems most clubs face not wages or any thing like that.
I think the way ronaldo has handled himself in all of this is disappointing,at least out ouf gratitude he could have stayed. Does any one know the details of his contract, was he on the last year or something that Inter felt they had to sell him b'cos if he was on the last year then inter were probably right as theres no point leaving it to the last and him walking away on a free transfer considering the losses they have made on him and his seeming determination to leave.

Trust me what he said is true otherwise the wouldn't be the second richest club in Europe, and trust me Perez knows what he's doing so I think if he would have lost money with Zidane he wouldn't have bought him.

Okay, I believe you, Real is out of trouble now, but the idea in that first post of me was to point out that Real was really in trouble at the first time (so, before Perez came) and in that period the Banks did not dare to take action against Real. I am sure I have read this some years ago. My point still is that in that period any other company was declared bankrupth in any other country.
So I still think there must be rules what criteria you have to follow in order to get licence, which is a task for the UEFA or the FIFA.
Jigger, maybe you read it somewhat better. Some of your conclusions doesn't make sense to what I wrote... ;)

YES he is...
Did he play like what? 20 games for inter in the last 4 years? Inter paid him for doing nothing, AND helped him to recover from injuries. They got back absolutely NOTHING.
And now, when he should pay back for all the help he got from Inter he leaves? WTF? He was one of my favorite players, I liked Inter only because of him... now, I lost all my respect for him.
Ronaldo, you are POOR! :kader:

I agree Ronaldo should be allowed to go where he wants but what you said was not appropriate.
cchow32 01-09-2002, 08:46:PM Well at least Inter doesn't have to put up with Ronaldo's sh*t anymore......and they got Crespo so I'd say they're better off now than they were.

First, I don't like arguing with someone in this forum, SERIOUSLY. ;)
1. Ronaldo didn't say any thank you note at Inter after he won the WC.
2. Just like kader said, we paid him alot during his injuries woe at Inter up until fully recovered at WC tournament, and now this is what Inter got ??? After fully recovery, he expressed to leave Inter. What the hell ???!!! Where's his attitude in to bring Inter up level again like in his first season at Inter in '97 ??
3. For all Inter fans, this is one major big dissappointment. :( But, we wouldn't forget his contribution at Inter in '98 3rd time lifting UEFA Cup. :) Last word : Ronaldo is already a HISTORY for Inter fans.

Yeah before they were in serious debt, but the reason why you can't let teams like Real, Bayern or Ajax go bankrupt is because they're a major part of the history to the sport.

Internazionale, WHY is Ronaldo a traitor? The man has the right to play where he wants.
The man has an obligation to fulfil his contract, as any other employee. No, he does not have the right to play where he wants while he's still under a legal contract.
I don't know what's wrong with Brazilian strikers lately, but Jardel also tried to pull the same trick with Sporting, but unfortunately for him, forgot his name isn't Ronaldo. Since he refused to play in Portugal again, he still has a 2 year contract left and this monday is the last day for transfers in Spain, Jardel is facing the possibility of watching football games only in his couch for the next 2 years, which I think is the right punishment for his actions.
Curiosly, both Jadel and Ro cases are quite similar. Inter put up with all Ro's injuries and always kept faith in him. Sporting bought Jardel when nobody else wanted him.
Traiters? Worse than that, my friend. What they did was pure blackmail on those who helped them in bad times. They're saying: "I don't want to play here anymore, so sell me to another club". This, of course, leaves very few options to their current clubs: either keep a highly paid player on the sidelines or sell him cheap to another club. The option is obvious.
[Imho, 40 million € is a good deal for Real, since I rate Ronaldo above Figo and Zidane. Way above.]
Clubs can't allow this to happen. Just imagine what the future holds if this becomes a new trend...:kader: I'm happy to see Ronaldo back in Spain and reviving the fantastic duo with Figo, but on the other hand I'm quite sad that Real opened this dirty door for players.
Finally, I am very disappointed with these players' attitude, since they are 2 of my all time favourite strikers.:(
Can't stop the rush... 02-09-2002, 09:40:AM I do agree with most of what you say Hugo.:D
The thing is im still not sure on if he's being a traitor or not. You see this kinda stuff happens all the time in all sports. It's just because of his big name people are putting it out in the spolight.
Ask yourself this, Would you go to a new club/team if they offered you more money? or the club/team that wanted you was much better then the place you play at now?
I understand Inter have been very faithfull to him while he was hurt(most clubs wouldnt help), but when he is back to full fitness again doesnt he have the right to move on if he wished to?
Maybe he can pay them back with money or something.:p
mhflierman 02-09-2002, 12:30:PM I just read som einside details about the contract signing. Real tried to sign Ronaldo ELEVEN times and the eleventh is finally worked out. Inter is probably the dumbest club in the world for agreeing this deal: If Ronaldo has problems on his knees in the future, Inter will take Ronaldo back, pay his wages and give Real a full refund of the transfer fee they paid! What the f*ck is wrong with that Moratti dude.

And what about keeping one's word and fulfilling their contracts? It's not that they were forced to sign them in the 1st place. Imagine what it would be like if, everytime a club offers some player a better contract, that player would pull this Ronaldo/Jardel stunt and force their original club to release them. That isn't fair and they are under a legal CONTRACT, man. They can't just pretend they never signed it.
Imho, with the Bosman ruling, rich clubs are already too much beneficed. If they allow players to do this, it would be another nail in the poorer clubs coffin.
Big clubs tend to forget that they also need small clubs as much as the rich ones. I mean, Real can't spend a whole season playing against Barça and Valencia, can they?
Can't stop the rush... 02-09-2002, 04:29:PM Hugo my friend, I think you have missed my point.
Im saying it's all up to the individual person if he wants to stay leave not the club. I agree that if a person signs a contract he should honor it but everyone doesnt do that. It just depends on the personality of the person.
Some people are gonna be "bad" and not fufill it.
My whole point is that people are blaming Real for nothing. Ronaldo didn't need to accept the transfer to Real but HE wanted to. Even Zidane and Figo, they didn't need to come to Real but they choose too. What about RVN(Ruud) going to Man Utd? He still had a contract with PSV.
Im sure you would accept a transfer from a top club.;)

I'm not blaming Real, dude! :)
They saw a chance and they took it. If it wasn't them, it would have been another club (ManU?). On the other hand, they opened the doors for this kind of behaviour from the part of the players. I know you're happy (I am too), since you're on the receiving end, but it may be different next time around, man.
Anyway, my complaints go only towards these 2 players.
I think the personality of the person is a bad excuse for not honouring a contract. What Ro and Jardel did is totally unacceptable. I also feel that you can't compare it with RVN's transfer. ManU approached PSV and payed a large sum of cash for him. Seems fair to me. What Ro and Mario did was stating that they no longer wanted to be in their clubs and demanded a transfer.
I mean, how can Sporting agree to loan the twice european golden boot and, IF Betis does buy him later on, receive a bit more than 5M €? Our clubs are already poor. If this becomes a standard procedure, we have no chances of surviving.:jambo:
monkee 02-09-2002, 07:28:PM What an ungrateful little ****!!! Hope Inter get compensation from him for his lack of activity throughout his contract and probably paying for him to get back to full fitness! I'm not talking about compensation from Real, any team would want Ronaldo in their team, but from the man himself.
You can't compare this with Ruud. Ruud didn't act up in the way Ronaldo did after for probably playing less than 25% of his contract. Man Utd came in offered PSV money, they accepted it, Ruud went. Ronaldo came back from the world cup, seemingly said I wanna leave this club, they said 'you what', Real said good opportunity, Ronaldo said 'Thanks for the support and my rehabilitation, I don't need you now'
RangersFC 02-09-2002, 07:37:PM Well, Inter couldnt force him to stay, could they?:jambo: If they did, he`d just refuse to play, and wait till his contract ran out........then leave for free. So, Inter are the ones to blame really if you Inter fans are so upset:rolleyes:
Players have more power than ever in football these days.....and im not sure if thats a good thing:confused:
Mauricio 03-09-2002, 03:44:AM Ronaldo is so stoupid, Inter was holding him while he was injured, they were acually paying him for doing nothing and gave him some phisiotherapy, i think Ronaldo should at least pay back by playng one season(but he didnt...)

The personality is a big part of it. Just today Ro admited he wanted to come to Real very much. Perez said that "it was all up to Ronaldo to decide to come or not". I actually commend Inter for letting him go. If they really wanted to they could've made him stay.
In fact, I don't really expect Ronaldo to stay on for more then a few seasons. He could even be like Anelka.:jambo:
The sad thing about it for me is that Portillo gets less playing time now.:(
