View Full Version : I'm a PES addict but FIFA 2003 looks extremely promising!

I used to worship FIFA, all the way from International Soccer on the MegaDrive through to FIFA '99 on the PC. The best version for me was always RTWC'98, since then though, I feel as though the FIFA series has deteriorated. EA Sports have added hardly no depth to the gameplay so therefore rival games, mainly PES have taken over the footy game crown. World Cup 2002 was a terrible game in my eyes, there was no need to remove club teams, although it was solely a World Cup product, but they could've reduced the price of the game seeing as there were so little features. I've got Pro Evolution & Winning Eleven 6, both of which have set the trend in the sports game market. The follow up to PES (PES2), is shaping up even better than WE6. I've been desperate for a decent PC football game as I've been without one for years. I've always visisted Soccer Gaming and a few days back I decided to see the latest on the new FIFA...turns out it caught my eye rather quickly. The new video does, in my eyes, make it look like an improvement over the previous efforts, although I'm sure some FIFA die-hards will argue otherwise. I never liked the way in which the players shot in the FIFA series, the ball would swerve everywhere and there was no variation, e.g. the ball would either go miles wide or in the top or bottom corner of the goal. Also, the ball felt like an airball. The 2 clips of free kicks in the video EA released a couple of days ago appear to be the only in-game bits of the entire video, yet from that it seems like they've sorted out the beach ball effect. I'm hoping that FIFA can become the game that it should've been years ago, I'm just disappointed that the potential it once had kind of disappeared, maybe EA have re-born the former king of football...

That would be great if it happens.

That would be a dream come true....but is this just a rumour passed around on the net, or is there actual documentation to support this? Talking about PES2 coming to NA, not the ESPN licence thing..

well, the ESPN license is a certainty, since Sega owns it now (read the NFL2k3 reviews), and the PES2 or some version of winning eleven 6 coming over is a rumor that I read at ign.com about some guy from konami that said it might happen, but well.. I am just hoping so anyway..

Coming back on the original subject: I don't know why to do a step back to FIFA. At the ECTS Pro Evolution Soccer 2 is declared as the best new game for the PS2....
Says enough :)
