OK, here’s the story:
Several months ago, i made this little SOAD ”compilation” cd, with the following tracks:
Metro, Blue, Johnny, Innervision, Marmalade, Shame(SOAD+Wu Tang Clan), Storaged, Honey, F the System, Will They Die 4 You?(Puff Daddy, Lil´ Kim, Mase and SOAD), Temper, Patterns(Tony Iommi and Serj), Snowblind, Streamline.
2 of my classmates, who’ve also turned SOAD fanatics thanks to me ;-) :) LOL, hear the cd and go:
“Dude, that’s great, where did you find all those songs!? Could you burn it for us?!”
And I’m like: “Sure, dudes!”
So I make 2 copies of my “SOAD Compilation” and give it to my 2 good friends.
Some time later, one of them comes up to me and says:
“Dude, one of my friends’ friend has found this whole “album” on the net called “Toxicity II”!”
And I’m like: “No fu**ing way?!”, “I’ve found all the rare songs of SOAD on the net that are there to find!”
And they’re like: “Sure, we haven’t heard it aswell, but I’ve heard that it’s not bullsh!t…”
And my reply is: “That may be right, but I’ll believe it when I hear it”
Some time goes by, and I hear nothing about this “Toxicity II”….that is of course…until today…
I woke up, and I realise I’m late for school…as I arrive there, my 2 SOAD friends are sitting there and look at me with a smile, and I’m like: “hehe, wassup guys!?”
And as they great me, one of them shows me this copied cd, the side says: (you know that read logo that says “american” followed by a star, and some serial number, and it says: SYSTEM OF A DOWN * TOXICTY II
I couldn’t belive my eyes…I look at the back cover and see the track list:
1. Everytime
2. Streamline
3. Virginity
4. Waiting for you (version 1)
5. We don’t give a
6. Side of the freeway
7. On my mind
8. Want me to try
9. Why
10. Power struggle
11. Therapy
12. Outer space
13. Your own pace
14. Defy
15. Waiting for you (version 2)
And I’m like: “HOLY SH!T!?!?!”
As the break comes, I borrow my friend’s cd player, and listen to it………….and I can say: It IS SOAD!!!
No bull****. I won’t say: Go ahead on the net and try to find some of these songs!, or whatever, cause I can’t guarantee it you myself, since I haven’t tried it……….but all I can say is……the songs don’t seem finished, they seem still demo like…………..maybe that’s true……….or SOAD is going for a more “raw” style, since they have said to be sick and tired of all the attention they get due to songs…or “hits” like Toxicity, Aerials and Chop Suey…who knows…….but it seems like, this album is more political……I dunno………….
