View Full Version : Only Arsenal can stop Real?

After thrashing PSV 4-0, Arsenal now is only team can stop Real Madrid in Champions League, according to some media and newspapers reports.

Do you agree with that?

No doubt about it, Arsenal's attacking is on top form. But I think most of the reporters or so-called experts in soccer are premature and short-sighted. They all forgot the teams like AC Milan, Valencia, Barcelona, Inter Milan and "the Old lady" Juventus etc. Maybe they think the Gunners managed to end their away jinx, so they'll be all the way.

If you were watching the match yesterday, you'll realise that the Gunners were very lucky on the first half, because PSV is lack of clinical finishers for those (at least 3) clear-cut chances.
Second half, Kezman's goal was disallowed that we all know it should be allowed from video replay.

Arsenal's sweeping attack is truly enjoyable, but they are not as good as those experts said. Some might say that their defence is world class as well. Yes but before last night.

Just wonder why no one said AC Milan or Barcelona or Valencia is the only team can stop Real after they thrashed Deportivo (a stronger team than PSV) 4-0. Barcelona who beat Galatasaray 2-0 in Hell. Valencia beat Spartak 3-0 in Moscow.

Oh.... suddenly I remember France in world cup 2002..............

I disagree with the notion that Arsenal are the only team. But by far it would be the sexiest matchup.

The other contenders would be AC Milan & Juve, Barca has no chance, Inter might. If ManU can figure themselves out they too may have a shot.

But in all honesty, once Ronaldo ties up his boots, nobody really has much of a shot.

I also think the Arsenal is strong!!! The champion competition will be Arsenal vs Real Madrid, with Arsenal lifting the trophy at Old Trafford( The champion match is played in Old Trafford this year, right??) and declare that they rule the english premier league this decade!!

We are playing well at the moment and wenger is trying to make the players believe that they are as good as he thinks they are - which is pretty good. I dont believe that theres too much that can be said from the first group stages, later in the competition when all the teams doing well are all put together then how good they are + a tad bit of good fortune along the way will im sure change opinions. Arsenal are obviously not the ONLY team that can stop real i think we still have it all to do, as someone above mentioned there are other teams doing very well, the second group stages will be so much fun and agony :D

I dont' thing we should get too carried away here. This was just one weeks results. All teams can still make it thru (..yeah right :p). But seriously. They are the hottest teams right now. That doesn't mean come May, the will be the two teams at Old Trafford.

Currently I think Inter could tie Real Madrid, but the way where playing... it sux but were winning:kader: :D so if we start playing good soccer or Kallon comes back... then I think we can match up to Real... just because they have alotta stars but it doesn't mean they can't lose... but yeah it won't be easy beating them though...

im not meaning to diss u or anything but What the Fk happend to INTER? Ajax shouldve won that match & wat the hell is wrong with vieri they were sooo shyte .. seems to me like the whole ronaldo thing has had an impact on the side. Almeyda & Recoba did well when they came on though. Its gonna have to be a BIG step if inter are gonna beat real madrid.

4-0 against PSV... pffft, we beat Depor 4-0 away without our main striker OR our first choice goalkeeper.

We've got a stronger team than Arsenal with world class players in every department. Anyone who puts Arsenal's CL chances above Milan's should really think again.

Juve also have a better chance, as do Inter, Man U (if they get their act togeather) and Bayern (see Man U's comment).

Arsenal are playing some great football at the moment, and have been since last december. But they will lose at somepoint soon, then we'll see after that.

They aren't really European powerhouses yet in the sense of Real, AC Milan, Bayern or even Man Utd (who aren't playing great at the moment). They are playing better than the last two and could win the tournament this season, but I think there are a few teams with a better shout at it than them, it was only PSV and not Deportivo!

People and the so-called experts are being premature with their comments.

What pedigree has Arsenal got in the Champions League? How many times have they made the knockout stages? The answer is 1, and in that they lost to Valencia straight away.

Yes, they're playing well, and I believe they can give Real Madrid a real go (no pun intended) but they are not exactly the only team who can do that.

Milan won 4-0 as well, let's not forget that, and it was against Depor which are a stronger side. Neither Man Utd or Barcelona have lost a game in the Champions League yet. The first group stage is often misleading anyway, and so one need to wait before making these sort of comments.

I don't think the thread is solely based on Arsenal's Champions League form.
Neither Man Utd or Barcelona have lost a game in the Champions League yet.
That may be true, but neither of these teams is has played as well on ALL FRONTS as Arsenal have for god knows how long...

Wait, wait wait...so lemme get this straight...I'm trying to figure out your confusing post..."Arsenal are playing some great football at the moment, and have been since last december"

I REALLY don't understand how you can use the term " at the moment" and then say "since last December"??? Do you realize that it's already October??? So you mean to tell me that you've encapsulated Arsenal's fantastic form since last December, almost a WHOLE YEAR, with " at the moment"?? I think you might wanna rephrase that...

But as if that wasn't enough, then you say that "they will lose at somepoint soon, then we'll see after that" LOL LOL Ok let's just say that Arsenal lost this weekend to Leeds...Are you REALLY suggesting that Arsenal's form will take a dip with one loss? Do you realize that Arsenal haven't lost in over 25 GAMES? I think it's going to take a little more than ONE LOSS to knock us off track...Even if we had lost dead in the middle of that streak, it would still be a SPECTACULAR 24 games with only one loss

Why is it that so many people always seem to confuse having lots of great players with success? I think we can ALL come up with a long list of teams that have star power and NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT...

Anyone who puts Arsenal's CL chances above Milan's should really think again

Who's been playing better football over the long haul, Arsenal or Milan...don't bother answering, It's Arsenal...

So AC milan are having a great start to their season and all of a sudden they're the team to beat?? Sorry to break it to you, but Arsenal have been playing awe inspiring football for a little longer than just ONE MONTH...I'm not saying that Milan suck, I'm actually quite impressed with their from as of late, but let's be realistic, Arsenal have been kicking a** for almost an entire year , non stop...There aren't too many teams that can claim that , definetely NOT AC Milan...

But in the end, we'll see who will still be playing come May, and I'm very confident Arsenal will be one of the teams still playing...

Nobody can stop Real Madrid?

pfft, they may be playing well just now and thumping teams by lots, but jesus, If I had that talent, I'd be expecting 5-0 wins every week.

Fact is that Real don't play as a team, and rely on their abundance of incredible talent to win games. I believe that if any of the teams can hassle their players and rough up the Real Madrid team(not meant in violent way) then I reckon that one of these teams is more than capable of pulling off a result.

I see how people can judge the Real Madrid team on paper, but no team is unbeatable.....

I don't think Manu, Juvents, and Inter will stop real. As soon as manu get a big team they will get knocked out, thats the usual procedure every season, and they have a pretty pathectic SQUAD compared to their rivals.

The only teams that I think can stop Real Madrid, are AC Millan, Valencia, Arsenal and Bayern as an outsider. Aresnal play as a team, I actually think Arsenal could beat Real madrid at highbury, but obviously Real will probably beat them at home or on a neutral ground.

you just never know

PS: Arsenal are still unbeaten today

Somehow I think it's the other way round, which Real Madrid is the one (well ... but not the only one) to defeat Arsenal.

I think Arsenal is playing so well, with the heart and spirit to fight for any match, I only see Real Madrid is the only one to stop Arsenal going on at the moment.

So you mean to tell me that you've encapsulated Arsenal's fantastic form since last December, almost a WHOLE YEAR, with " at the moment"?? I think you might wanna rephrase that...

Yep. That is what I said. Don't see what's wrong with that? By saying that they've been playing great football since December I thought that it was implied that they have been playing well for a year now. So really what I'm saying is that they've been playing great football for a year and still are? Yes? Or did you think I was saying they've been playing **** since December and have only won a couple of games?

But as if that wasn't enough, then you say that "they will lose at somepoint soon, then we'll see after that" LOL LOL Ok let's just say that Arsenal lost this weekend to Leeds...Are you REALLY suggesting that Arsenal's form will take a dip with one loss? Well, in order to go on a losing streak you have to lose a game. They are flying in confidence at the moment, and have won games easily, like Leeds this weekend, but have stole others, like Bolton a week earlier. If they lose one, it won't effect them much, but then if the lose two they might start to wonder. It's football.

I didn't think my post was that offensive?!
