View Full Version : Iss Fans Beware! ...
MuRcY[b] 29-09-2002, 07:46:PM well with fifa 2003's release date closing in u gotta beleive those hooligan fifa fans are mustering up another attempt to de-throne konami! yes there will be stoopid name calling, talk of how great the new feature is ( ball not sticking to feet!), graphics praise, the neverending claims that the animation of fifa is much better than PES but fear not!... it will all be over in 3 weeks when they all realize they were in denial ( but somehow they are content to stay there) & their frustration will inevitably lead them to buy a new keyboard to replace the mashed keys ... ...... LOLLLL
theCRO 09-10-2002, 03:38:AM fifa2003 is a great leap forward (almost like EA copied someone else's best implementations...hmmm) but is unplayable when compared to WE6, IMO.
Maybe EA will get some things right after a couple of years and then maybe, MAYBE, I might even buy their sim :)
For now though, Konami deserves every word of praise and every dollar I give them for their masterpiece games.
PrimeEight 20-10-2002, 04:30:PM EA had their very own intentions for how FIFA should be played, but nobody seems to be able to use FIFA in the best way. PES and FIFA are two different styles, but now EA have had to make things more like PES, because not enough people were able to use FIFA in a way that completely outshines any of the features of ISS.
When consoles and players get good enough to really grasp what WC2002 was all about, the gameplay styles of FIFA 2002 and WC2002 will re-emerge as the best simulations available.
For now though, the minority must sit down and give in to the mass appetite and appeal for the one sort of game.
Sit tight

One little, simple, modest question:
Ever played PES or Winning Eleven......? ;)

PAHAHAHAHAHA....will the kids ever grow up? WC2002 is the worst football "game" to ever rear it's ugly head, I don't care which camera you use. It's awful, disgusting and it's a real shame the good people at FIFA still lend their name to it.
1.2/10 rating, uuurrgghhh
scriergreen 12-11-2002, 01:52:PM Fifa2002 and WC2002 were crap.
PES is amazing. I havent played PES2.
Fifa2003 is very good(on world class at least its a engaging game)
the sound is by far the best ever.
I respect pro evo im sure PES2 is good but Fifa 2003 is also quite good, the individual skill moves(giggs dribbles diferently to keane or beckham for instance, beckham can,t dribble haha.) and the abilty to put defenders in the way of passes is very good addition making tighter game. I only own a pc so I am glad Fifa 2003 is so damn good. I play PES on my mates PS2 and he's gonna buy PES2 soon. PES and Fifa are different games but at least this time EA have made it football and not pinball. Anyone who thinks otherwise has blinkers on.
Again the sound is AWESOME on FIFA 2003! Great atmosphere really!
the_man 12-11-2002, 02:00:PM As I've said before, anyone who says/thinks that FIFA is better than PE, is not talking about reality in terms of gameplay.
mathewsss 12-11-2002, 02:08:PM Both the games are incomplete IMO.
FIFA has the atmosphere, looks, sounds, but lacks the AI & gameplay.
PES2/WE6 has the gameplay (more so with WE), but lacks the licenses, kits, leagues, eye-candy.
If both FIFA and PES/WE companies keep competing seriously like they have been this year, we the football gamers will be the ultimate winners for the better game.
Next 2 years should be interesting.
:D

Man, a true FIFA fan, they come rare nowadays, almost extinct. Even I was once like you mate, but no. And one day you'll also see the light.
I am playing FIFA 2003 and love it, but will not turn my back on the quality game that PES2 is.
FIFA was once a 'has been' and is now a new game that in my opinion is very playable. :)

Now this is the average FIFA fan. Someone who has heard of PES2, but cannot understand why people play the game. It is a good question you ask there my friend. What makes people leave great commentary, great music, all player names, most licenses, pretty graphics, leages etc. Two explanations. One you can say, bah they must all be crazy "sad little people" that are not in touch with the real world. Or two, there is actually something to the game that superseeds great commentary, great music, all player names, most licenses, pretty graphics, leages and they are willing to put up with everything it lacks because of everything it gives.
One of life's rules is that people do what works. If you talk to a lot of PES players, you would find they are rational people. So the first explanation goes out the window. So next you say, hmm there must be something that actually satisfies them beyond pretty graphics, real player names and stuff like that. Mind you, most PES players were exclusively FIFA players before. So they know what they are forfeiting in a game. But if you ask most of them, it is a small price to pay for the awesome gameplay it delievers.
Ilhan Mansiz 30-11-2002, 12:37:AM EA used to be great but they are a perfect example of what money can do to you. They dump gameplay and go straight to fancy screens and advertisments.I used to respect them but not anymore.
EA will become more and more obsolete in the sports genre for me as Winning Eleven is coming out and a new company(something Gaming) is making a Hockey sim with 20+ leagues *drool*
Goodbye EA you were good in the early years now your nothing(to me anyway).
I will still play NHL 93 though :) that is just a classic.

i dont think anyone couldve put it any better :)
mouawad 06-12-2002, 03:45:PM I played my first game of football on a PC in the way of Fifa97 i think it was......it was ok but extremely unrealistic in terms of gameplay. I ended up giving it up and sticking to FPS and NBA Live on the PC as the footie games were basically crap.
Then i ended up getting a PSX even though i was a bit of a console reluctant. Mainly got it for Gran Turismo and some decent sport sims.......yeh i thought maybe there's a decent alternative to Fifa on the console as on the PC there was only FIFA and the old skool games like Sensi and Kick Off which were past their used by date. I went through some magazines reading reviews and came across International Superstar Soccer Pro 98. All the mags were giving this the big thumbs up in terms of gameplay. Yes the graphics were ****ty and quite blocky but if you wanted to re-create a real game of football this was the one they said to go for. So i went to the store and found a copy of 'said' game went home pretty psyched and put her on. Anyway to cut a longer story short.......i was hooked .....line and sinker with the ISS series from this point on and laughed at people who continued to play the FIFA series.
Even back then ISS Pro98 completely owned FIFA and 4 years later FIFA still has that same generic unfulfilling gameplay in which you have no control over most of the play, whilst the ISS/WE series has flourished to the point of almost perfection in WE6 and WE6-JL. I am sure once Final Evolution is released in the next few days this will become the greatest example of consoles football ever until WE7 is released.
To you FIFA fanboys walking around with your EA Sports (we will rape you) shades on ........i don't hate you .....i feel sorry that you continue to get a$$ raped by the corporate machine that is EA.
Such a shame.....EA used to make quality games.

Ratinho 29-12-2002, 10:53:PM Everyone knows the best Fifa game, and the last one to even provide any fun was the megadrive version, where they stuck to arcade football, and didn't try and be what they are not.
WE6 and especially now, WE6:FE are by far the best football games around, end of dtory, simple as that.
And why worry about kits and player names anymore, now an x-port can have all these available for you within days of a game being released. Try checking out the kits for Final Evolution in the new x-port files available.
Not only that, come on guys!!! FIFA's graphics may be bright, colourful and big but the players do not look right. They are not perfect on WE by any means but on FIFA, the players heads do not fit their body!!!

Indeed ! Almost every time the new WE series come out, the overall review in every magazines or game sites increase significantly every year ! :)
By the time WE7 comes out, it'll reach 98 or 99 out of 100 ! :rockman:
uskid94 02-01-2003, 09:35:PM players didnt even have real names the grapics sucked. Me and my kid brother tim. he rented fifa 98 i stupidly rented iss 98! he was a 1st grader than so we played his game frist as soon as i pluged it it in i was craving for fifa ever since fifa has been the better game
mattah 03-01-2003, 07:37:PM I'd be interested to know the average age/intelligence of a PES gamer vs a FIFA gamer. I'm sure we'd find the PES gamer far older/intelligent than the kids that play FIFA, of which the previous poster seems to be a brilliant example.

please answer this.
WHY OH WHY would you care about the commentator & sound?
WHY OH WHY would you care if the gfx is SLIGHTLY better?
WHY OH WHY would you care if the players names were spelt correctly??
& for the love of god, who cares about the bgm music??????
I wouldnt mind but, i play ISS & never tire of the different goals i score & the obvious difference in every single player you can buy in a master legue. My brother rented fifa 2003 out & although he enjoyed the "good commentating" the "better gfx" the "names & teams" & although he said this was a good feature......................
It was the conversation we discussed as we were taking it straight back to the video shop to get our money back.
I would rather play FIFA 95 for the sega genesis on a pc emulator than play these obvious cash in FIFA's of late.
The gameplay lacks longevity, the shoting has always been "shoot from anywhere & facing any direction & hit the top corner with curl", the crosses never come to anything & if they do the goal always looks very poor (like all the goals you score). A good player will just breeze past an average one, wheather a toddler button bashes or a grown man.
The game is just a cash in for the less skilled games player. But at least the celebrations are good.
LMAO!!!!!!! :hump:

No, when someone says that, they havent played PES2.
I overhear people at my school talking about how awesome FIFA2003 is. I tell them about PES2, and they say no ive never heard of it so it must be $hit.
