I believe that Manchester Utd are hated for several reasons :

1. The British mindset that abhors success. We don't mind the underdog winning as long as it doesn't get a taste for it.

2. The have a great habit of stuffing most of our teams with great regularity.

3. They are the world's richest club.

4. Their team is managed by the most arrogant man to walk the face of the Earth in my perception, who whilst cannot be faulted for his managerial excellence or his tactical accumen, still believes that the game of football belongs solely to his club and we should bow down in obeyance. The clock watching, non acceptance of the other team when Manchester lose or draw - it is all down to the fact that Man Utd played badly, the slagging off of former members of his staff in a torrid autobiography, the silly mind games against other managers, the constant chewing and subsequent spitting of chewing gum onto the pitch.
AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH Okay he has won things, but his deportment pales into insignificance next to Bobby Robson, a true Gentleman and far more worthy of the title "Sir".

5. They have loads of Glory seeking fans, who have never looked up Manchester on a map, nevermind visited the place.

6. They have lots of players who have a face that is just looking for a slap.

7. They are over exposed by the media. We are just sick of hearing about them.

8. They have just had a "HOLIDAY" in Brazil whilst the rest of us have been stuck here frozen and soaked. Nice dodge boys, get knocked out early so we can have a week on the beach !

You might think because i'm an aussie we know sweet F*** all about football. check the teams in the UK and you'll find these great players... All australian - Mark Bosnich, Harry Kewell, Mark Schwarzer, Danny Tiatto, Mark Viduka.. and probably a lot more in the 2nd and 3rd Divisions.

Leeds fans aren't jealous of Man Utd. We know that we're real fans, we know Leeds are on the up and we're happy. The few real Man Utd fans can admit that Leeds are challenging for England's No1 spot.

You're a perfect example of a glory supporter :- desperate to say how great your team is, always calling other team cr@p and saying Championships aren't "proper" when Man Utd fail in them. Thorough glory supporter. You probably don't even know who Bowyer IS let alone how good he is.

I've been having a think about just why I hate Manchester United, and here are as many reason as I can afford to type in this phone call.

1) Glory supporters - I've said my piece about them bastards in another thread about dubbs.

2) Assumption of victory - this is one that really gets me. Even before a tournament, the fans (and I think to a certain extent the manager and players too) take it for granted that United will win every single game. Before the Club World Champs, many United fans just assumed that they'd breeze through winning every game easily. And, when they lose, they never, ever, EVER accept that it happens, and that they were just outplayed or did badly, they always have to come up with some excuse why they lost. 'We didn't have...', 'Fixture congestion...', 'We played mid-week...' and 'The referee was awful...' are a few favourites of mine. You lost. All football sides do. Cope.

3) Alex Ferguson. What. A. Twat. From the way he refuses to accept that anyone currently connected with himself or Manchester United can do anything wrong in the history of the world ever, to his constant abuse of referees to such ane xtent that he can always find that extra few minutes in injury time, there must be few non-ManU supporters in the World who don't want to spit-roast him and feed him to a couple of gibbons. He leads the way with the excuses and the 'we were unlucky' bollocks, and his lack of loyalty beggars belief eg. While at Man Utd, Paul Ince was described by his manager as 'one of the best midfielders in Europe'. After he left, he was described as 'a proper charlie'. Does Ferguson have no soul.

4) Gary Neville - This bastard's lack of IQ just annoys my bollocks off. The way that he tries to wind up the away crowds without actually being caught by the stewards will always baffle me. Anyways, I'd love to see him make two major mistakes and gift a match to someone else... damn, too late.

5) The PLC - is there any other club in football which is destorying the 'Ron Manager' nostalgic view of football any more than United? They've turned what used to be a sport based on passion, excitement and dreams into figures in a spreadsheet. Perhaps the blame should also go to Sky TV for this, but after all, they're United affiliates anyway, so f**k them too.

I've run out of time to add more, but I'll try next time I'm online. Why can't United's fans go out and try to experience some real football? Give me a choice between supping champagne in a director's box at Old Trafford after a 6-0 drumming of CE Principat in the Champions League, or a game of pool and a cider in the bar at Cheltenham, and I know which one I'd go for every time. Rack em up then, lads.

Also there's the excuses (oh, the excuses!).

Evereything from the heat, to the timing of the matches, or the refs, or the incorrect amount of sugars in the half-time teas, was touted as an excuse for their "performances" in the Club World Cup.

They seem patently unable to admit that someone may be better than them.

Count me in as another MU hater. It's not the club or the players I hate (although I do hate some players), it's the attitude of so many people connected with the club.

No. 1 is the supporters, or to be more precise the glory supporters. They are among the most arrogant bunch of people I have ever met. REAL football fans tend to let results speak for themselves unless the team they beat is one they have a traditional rivalry with e.g. Liverpool. But these glory supporters hate every club that poses a serious threat to them like Leeds. Childishly they refuse to admit that these teams can win things when every single piece of evidence shows otherwise and they make incredible excuses for losing.

No. 2 is the manager. Oooh, what a nasty piece of work. Yes, technically he is a great manager and he has won the treble but it couldn't happen to a nastier person. He doesn't show any respect for the teams he beats e.g. in the WCC he said that they were the best team in the competition - AFTER they had been knocked out. And he has been very nasty to people in his recent book.

And No. 3 is the general arrogance of the team in general and I think this is the one that gets most people. The supporters are arrogant, the manager is arrogant and some of the players are arrogant. Andy Cole, David Beckham and Gary Neville are all perfect examples of arrogant players. Although I do like some of the players like Yorke, Keane and Solskjaer but this is their only redeeming factor.

Yes they are probably the best team in the world. WHY then, do their fans keep having to remind us? We all hope our teams do well BUT just because people want Leeds or Arsenal to win it DOESN'T mean they hate Manchester United and want them to lose. But of course that just goes to prove that many of their supporters are stupid too.

To ST, let me make a little something clear... in the world club championships Manchester lost the game against vasco for one reason... They underestimated the skill of their opponents. In 15 minutes 3 goals went in and the game was finished. Really Vasco da gama were too good on the day. I'm not making any excuses for the reds. They are a professional club and they should not be excused for their mistakes. But nor should any club in the world. Everyone has the impression that manchester united are always going to win. This is a near impossible thing to do. Nobody with any sense should expect it... Sometimes even i do. for example the Southampton match. (3 all draw for those who don't know) I expected united to go out and walk all over southampton. but how wrong was I??? very wrong. My attitude towards them has changed dramatically since the Chelsea match... But I will defend my club for that game by saying this... Manchester United has the STUPIDEST player in the world.. Massimo Taibi (#26 Goalkeeper) he was pathetic.. a good show against Liverpool (i think it was liverpool, i do have a bad memory) but the other games he played in he was dreadful...

Well done on naming 25 - seeing as They only needed 16 to go to Rio, perhaps the other 9 could have joined up with nine others who didn't fly out eg. Culkin, Szmid etc. in defending the FA Cup. A great side doesn't make excuses - it simply defies the odds.

I'm tired of people saying that if you like Manchester United and you don't live in Manchetser then your a glory hunter. Okay what about this: I live In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and I love soccer. We have a hockey team (Edmonton Oilers), football team (Edmonton Eskimos), baseball team (Edmonton Trappers) and a INDOOR soccer team (Edmonton Drillers). We don't have one outdoor team here is Edmonton, actually their are only 2 outdoor soccer teams in Canada. Sure we are right next to the USA but I ain't going to cheer for a team in the MLS. Also, we get English Premiership here and Italy Serie A but the Italy Serie A is in Italian so I don't understand. So I then like the Premiership, okay now who is my favorite player ever since I first saw him play????? Beckham. Okay now what team does Beckham play for????? Manchester United. Well I learn about the team and watch a couple games and before you know it I'm a major fan of theirs and I might even visit Manchester in the next 2 years since I want to go to England. Now, I like all the players on Man Utd. now, so f Beckham left I would cheer for them still. Also my favorite Italy Serie A team is AC Milan because of Maldini cause he is an awesome player and Schevchenko cause I'm Ukrainianand he is also. People hate Man United because they have millions of glory hunting supporters around the world. There are people who claim to "love" Man U who don't even know who George Best is. These are the fans who if Man U went bankrupt tomorrow, got relegated two seasons in a row, would be wearing Barcelona or Bayern Munich shirts, or whoever is "the best."

Someone in this forum said something stupid like "Who has ever heard of Leeds?" You can't claim to know anything about English or European footie if you've never heard of Leeds-- they've won European trophies and won the League in 1992.
