FIFA 2003 VS Pro Evolution Soccer 2 VS This Is Football 2003

thanks

are they all in Australia?

Pro Evo 2 is much better than both. This is football second then fifa.

With pro evo there are tactics involved, passing and formations and so forth
With fifa the AIs so easy to beat all you have to do i a couple of step overs and your through, also you can only scored from around the edge of the area and into the top corners.

This is football is quite good to play but not as good as pro evo

Pro Evo is king of football sims, with all the new features nothing will be able to stop it

I played the last version of fifa and found the professinal level surprisingly easy!
Pro shouldd be top of all of those tables, the only one you had a case with when evo wasn't on top was presentation.
Fifa plays like the older versions still, it was good when it was older and they were the best game out then but now its slipped dramatically!!
The new pro evo will be king

FIFA World cup 2002 on PS2 should be played on/with:

Analogue direction stick
Panoramic camera
Slow-Normal speed
Increased power-up speed
Star abilities off

It's no wonder people think it's a bad game if they play it on default settings. I agree that its terrible. Please give it a go with all the above, and I would put my own copy on the line, that a new world will open up to you.

Someone tell everybody this.

Gameplay - PES2/WE6 (Far away better)

Realism - Fifa2003 (Faces, kits, stadiums, ambience, Club Championship)

Sorry, but the last TIF that I played was for psx...

This is the opinion of someone who has both WE6 and Fifa2k3 full versions. Your choice...

The main thing to think about is this:

The people on the side of pes2 will say pes2 and the people on the side of fifa 2003 will say fifa 2003.... but if you look closer then you will notice more and look impartially.

BOTH games have faults... overall you have to say that PES2 is let down by many things, things which should come as standard. what you the consumer would pay £40 for example real names, and decent level of commentary. you can edit the names of teams etc okay but the commentary still says the wrong name so whats the point? the main thing has to be atmosphere too. konami have to improve graphics, commentary and realism, if they outsold EA then surely they could afford a licence for real names???

I was as sceptical about FIFA this year thinking maybe it could be just another year of top graphics & dreadful gameplay. well compared to wcup 2002 the transformation is fantastic, the game flows like a real match, maybe too reaslistic due to having to play a passing game or a long ball depending what situation you are in or sometimes midfield scrappy play occurs just like real life. where as PES2 is more arcade style and seems faster. (you may disagree) winning headers is not as easy as it maybe should be but generally the defenders would win a majority of these. I have scored with a header and think it is all to do with timing. One thing i dont like is the power bars though and think that these should be removed.

PRO EVOLUTION 2

stadia 8/10 (okay not enought though)
commentary 1/10 (hello football freaks????)
team names 1/10 (lake district, europort???)
player names 5/10 (larcos, facu? oranges??)
kits 6/10
crowd 7/10 (sound okay but look false)
player liknesses 5/10 (beckhams mohican???)
gameplay 9/10
A.I. 9/10
refrees 5/10 (too many instant red cards)
competitons 6/10
value 7/10

FIFA 2003

stadia 10/10 (official and a shed load of em)
commentary 9/10 (never repetitve)
team names 10/10 (100% accurate)
player names 10/10 (100% accurate)
kits 10/10 (every official kit even alternate kits)
crowd 10/10 (excellent chants,songs & atmosphere)
player liknesses 8/10
gameplay 8/10 (vast improved, enjoyable tactical)
A.I. 8/10
refrees 10/10 (give warnings, look realistic)
competitons 10/10 (14 leagues, club championship)
value 9/10

you may agree you may not :crazyboy:

i have both games (for the PS2) and i like them both. each for what hey are good in.

i have been strictly ISS/PES ever since FIFA 2001 which was the low point in this series and the last game (so i swore to myself) that i would ever get from EA. god knows, why i gave them another chance this year -- but i do not regret it. it's very impressive that an industry behemoth like EA was actually able (and capable) of massively improving a franchise the way they did this time around.

i noticed, that in FIFA you actually sort of build a closer emotional connection to your players, because they behave (dribble, move, celebrate) so real. i was awe-inspired by watching Dortmund's Amoroso or Koller move around on the pitch and one of the first goals i scored was a beautiful Zidane tip in and the way he celebrated it was just awesome. no frantic jumping around or raising arms. no. head down in his typical shy manner and (so it seemed) a little introverted smile. it looked just like what you EXPECT, and that made it so pleasurable. in PES i don't have any emotional connection to Zidane. he is just a player with a bald patch and higher stats, and that's it.

i mean i like my PES2, but sometimes you just want to immerse yourself immediately in those details of the real stuff without having to go through painstakingly setting up strategies, changing names and editing players. especially on those champions-league nights like today. and there FIFA 2K3 doesn't let me down.

i am probably the only one on this planet who thinks that the two of these games build a very nice synergy: some days i feel like strategizing and fighting the CPU in an almost physical fashion. then i pick PES2 which is to me a more "abstract" (albeit sometimes also very sterile) representation of the game. however, if i feel like playing here and now Real vs Roma (as tonight) in Bernabeu with all the tension and excitement and the anticipation i pick FIFA 2k3, which is more a "simulation" of the whole environment thing (fanboys beware: i did not say "simulation" in terms of gameplay).

to give an analogy of what i mean: PES is the "love of your life". you know her since high school. you married her. she'll never let you down or disappoint you. she'll never cheat on you. she'll always be there for you. but sometimes you are craving for a little more excitement and color and authenticity...

You do not want to stretch your analogy too far, the argument doesn't work. For one you are dealing with people, with a wife and blonde. People have feelings, games, don't.

Mate all I can say is to find out what is important to you. Personally, I can do with out the flash of a wristband on my player, or the fact that one of my players has a ring. I can do without that. I can't do without strategy and indepth gameplay, the kind that when you score a goal, you jump up, run around the house, as if your favorite team just scored on TV. Depends what is important to you. Find that out and you will know what game to play. Then again, where is the law that says you can't enjoy both?

It's getting hillarious, but just in case the guy that created the topic still in doubt...

If I had:

-Only PS2 - Iwould by PES2 (Cause u can edit it and Gameplay/AI/Physiscs r better)

-Only PC - Fifa2k3 (doh!)

-Both PC & PS2 - I would by both, but in case of choosing only one, it would be fifa2k3(PC) for the realism and atmosphere...

It's rightly recommended to have both, but basically, those who have ps2 defend PES2 (because they're mad with fifa without edition) and those who have pc defend fifa (because they're mad with pes2 absence in pcs).

p.s. this is, without a doubt, the most funny topic in soccergaming. U really love each other!!!!

I own both games (for the PS2) and it's a bit early to make up opinions yet. The games have only been out for a week. But since most members of this forum seems to have made up their minds before the games were released, I will give you my opinion based on my first impressions of PES2 and FIFA2003, as well as past experience with PES and FIFA2002/01/etc

PES2 is probably the game which will give you the best long term value for money, at least if you normally play solitaire against the computer. The gameplay and AI is better than FIFA. However it is a flawed masterpiece. The commentators are horrible. The graphics would have been very good two years ago. The squads are hopelessly out-of-date (but this is a minor complaint since you will probably spend most of your time playing the master league anyway). And the designers should have been flogged for calling the teams Aragon, Medoc, Highlands etc as well as all the players with fake names. You can off course edit the player and club names, but it will take you DAYS to do this on a Playstation, and it shouldn't be your job when you pay 50 quid for the game.

FIFA looks good and sounds even better. When I saw the teams walk in on Anfield and heard the supporters sing "You'll never walk alone" I was "almost" ready to put PES2 on the shelf for the next couple of months. The gameplay and AI isn't as good as PES2, but my first impression is that it is far better than in 2002 (only time will show if I'm going to be disapointed). But it's the perfect game to play together with friends, a multitap and some bottles of beer. But you will probably going to be tired of the game soon, if you mostly play against the computer.

the argument was purposely held stereotypical and over the top so that it shall become CLEAR that it's author is arguing from a somewhat ironic standpoint...

one thing that is starting to annoy me a little is your "buddha" like attitude. i mean, granted, your post count is impressive and you are probably THE celebrity around here but i still would wish you sometimes to actually EXPLAIN your viewpoints rather than just throwing things into discussion without further evaluating. so: why do you think the analogy doesn't work ?

Where do you get ideas like that? Little budah, celebrity around here? What? Post count impressive? There are people here with my post count times 3. What are you talking about? Is it my name that is throwing you off? If you want to know more about it ask, don't jump to conclusions.

And if you wanted to know more about the analogy not working, you couldn't have simply asked.

He implies that PE is the wife while FIFA is the blonde right? I gave one reason, wife and blonde are people, these are games. Anyone can love X number of games, no problem. When you start to love X number of women (X != 1), big problems arise. Also, the man that goes for the blonde finds out that looks greener in the other yard is not as green when he starts to live there. That is after sexing the blonde for a while, he realizes his wife has more depth. A better analogy would be cars. PE games is the kind of V8 truck, ugly looking, but it will not get stuck when snow falls or anything. It's a reliable vehicle. FIFA would be more like a porshe convertable. Looks great, everybody wants it, you don't want to drive a porshe all season long. Whereas you can drive the truck anyday anytime.

this is what it says Overall

Not much more can be said for this game other than the fact that it is in all aspects better than every other FIFA game before it. PES fans may not be too keen on switching teams but they cannot deny the fact that this game looks better than their beloved PES, even though it may not play quite as realistically. However having played the recently released PES2, I can safely say that FIFA 2003 is by far the most enjoyable of the two despite its small flaws.

I have Fifa2003 for PC, and yesterday I played PES2, and I can say both games are excelent! :rockman:

though I prefer Fifa2003, and I have several reasons for this:

1- It's obvious, I've spent more time playing Fifa2003 and I more used to it :p

2- For me Fifa's gameplay is much better, and sometimes more realistic than in PES2

3- I've noticed that in PES2 the field seems to large for the players, thus in Fifa2003 it looks very proportional

Some other small details, like graphics, or stadium atmosphere, are among the other reasons I prefer Fifa2003.

Though I must say that PES2 doesn't seem to have any bugs! I didn't play it for a long time, but after my first game in Fifa2003 I could enumerate several bugs, while in PES2 I couldn't see any...

For those with PS2 and that want to buy a footie game...well I'm not giving any advices :P

Fifa is quite simply quality. If ur like me and want to play with real teams and real players and have real stadiums with a great sound track and graphics then FIFA is the one. Damn !! I think that this was one of the most bizarre posts I have EVER read in Soccergaming !!

Fifa is the professional ??????? Pro Evo the arcade game ?????

Where the freaking hell did you take this idea from ?? How can a game in which:

- You can only foul players by sliding tackles
- The AI basically only scores in one-one situations with your keepers
- You basically can not head the ball if you are alone
- The defenders many times just watch you go into the box with a midfielder and score
- The keepers get to the ball as quickly as a Hockey goalie
- The shots are still like rockets
- The players don't move when you are about to take a free kick

be called "professional" while you call PES or WE "arcade game" with so many BASIC AND MAJOR FLAWS ?? For god's sake...

AND I COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON AND ON.....

And you can not go calling people that play PES idiots, because they know much more about football than you. WTF would anyone care about the names if you can edit them and you can play the best representation of football anyway ??

Go watch football first, and play WE 6 or PES 2 decently before typing these kinds of jokes.. :kader:

Fifa is quite simply quality. If ur like me and want to play with real teams and real players and have real stadiums with a great sound track and graphics then FIFA is the one. If you want fake names, fake teams, fake stadiums and terribly slow game play and some chinese kid on a Yamaha keyboard then Pro Evo is for you. Generally appeals to idiots who think Butatista and Roberto Larcos are real players!

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion. One question, have you played PES2?
