I can see while playing the demo that pressing shift does a fake, but the bad thing is - it chooses the specific trick for me. It does something different each time.

Can't I determain myself which kind of dribble I wanna use?

In fifa 98 you had different tricks in different keys and that was great, 'cause you had complete control and you did whatever you wanted.

Now that you don't, it gives almost no control over what you do and it's like rolling a dice.

What is it? Why do EA insist on not giving us full control over what we do in the game as far as dribbes are concerned?

Not every type of feint is always compatible with each situation you're in. Why not let us choose?

Also, It's impossible to dribble past an outcoming goalie and that's bad. It happens all the time in real soccer, so why not here?

No goalie in the world is that good in 1-on-1 situations, where it is well known that the attacking player has the upper hand because he can do whatever he likes while the goalie is stranded in the area and is usually at the forward's mercy.

Can I "tap" a ball into the net?

What I mean is - Let's say I'm infront of the kepper and I wanna put a a soft shot past him when he comes out to me. Can it be done?

'Til now all I can do is take a powerful shot and it's no fun.

How about lobbing him "Raul" style.. How do I lob a keeper, especially when he rushes to me or I see him out of his line? How?

I don't think you've played the game enough, everything you ask for can be done.

doing tricks = SHIFT+ a direction for specific tricks.

you can make soft shots with "W", as well as through passes.

you can lob with tapping the high pass button "A"

or tap the shoot button, the ball ball went under the keeper's legs and trickled over the line..

And when u use freestyle each direction is a different skill...

I know that it does different things with directions, but it's still no good.

Why?

Because what if I wanna do the same dribble from different directions?

How much control do I have as to which kind of dribble I'm performing? Not much. Sometimes it does the stop-and-run, sometimes it does the 360 spin and only by Zidane (He's not the only guy on earth who does it), sometimes it does foot-over-ball dance...

I wanna choose EACH AND EVERY TIME which one I'm about to use. Do I have complete control over that, like I should, or not?

Asking specific questions about moves in the game is whining? I'm not the only one who wants to know this, I'm just the only one asking because the others don't wanna sound like "whiners".

There's no use complaining now since EA is going to release fifa 2003 soon...

what about the space button? is the same with shift? have u guys manage to curve the ball or head it? if so, who?

Is ok that a players lake Zidane and Ronaldo do have a dribble different, but we should use it went we want them at the time we want them no matter which direction we going

and order thing who has been able to scored with a head, bicycle kick is good that is not as easy as it was on fifa2001 but came on now we gat to play with short passes in order to win.

What happen to those long passes the cpu always get's it but well is always the same crap all that EA Sports want is your money no build a Real Football game that's to much for fan's who loves EA sports Fifa

ummm what exactly is the zidane helicopter?? is it like wher u have the ball in front of u and u sort of jump on it going in a 360 degree spin?? i know he is my favourite player but i just havent seen him perform it much coz in australia we dont get la liga coverage.

umm back to the game. golden boy u have had ur golden days just give it up. fifa 98 was good for one reason it had all teams and all rosters were correct. if u have to compare id say it is 98 and 2002 that u must compare. because both were road to world cup games.

1st example my birth place Macedonia had a full roster in fifa 98 and when it came to 2002 the goalkeeper was called No. 1. ea disappointed me there.

2nd and last example: once you did qualify for the world cup in 2002 you couldnt go on like you could in 98 that was also terrible.

fifa 2003 will be a game full of class as EA has concentrated on each player making them look real and it is almost like a new dimension to the game. i must add that the gameplay is more realistic. no more ill chest the ball and it will come down just next to my feet, the ball goes a yard or 2 infornt of u and u must chase it. i fully agree with all that ea has done.

Fifa 2003 is meant to be played with a console like controller.

You don't try and play a flight sim with a keyboard do you? WHy would you play football with one?

fifa2003 is meant to be played with a toilet - it's a piece of turd.

by pressing shift u usually get the best move to get pass the defenders

when u are face to face with the keeper u can "tap" the ball by pressing lightly the shot key and u can lob him "raul style" by pressin lightly the high cross key! very nice! EA didn't screw up this time golden boy!!! they made a very nice game and they are in the right direction to finally compete with PES!!!

i once was against greeks coz i am macedonian and we dont sorta like each other. i now am not and coz i am not i will applaud u on tellin golden boy off nicely. i did raul style it was wikid keeper totally dumb founded.

When I said EA screwed up I didn't mean the lobbing and soft shooting (Thanks for the answers, by the way), I meant the dribble choosing (I'm sorry, but it's very important to me) and getting past the keeper, which remains impossible to do.

Have any of you did it? I think not.

Is it done in real life? All the time.

Given that - have EA screwed up? Yes they did.

Don't get me wrong - it looks way better than fifa 2001 and 2002, but it's still lacking some "small" details, which, let's face it, make the game a hell of lot better.

It's the small things that count, not the big ones. (Well.. not as much anyway)

I wish we could choose wich moves to make. Not having full control is frustrating. Still, it´s looking to be a great game.

I totally agree with Goldenboy about the dribbling. By not allowing us to choose what moves they are doing it is exactly like rolling dice. I dont feel like I am doing anything, i dont get any sense of accomplishment by getting around the man. In 2003, its more like, press skill move button and see if he does something useful. If he does a move, great. But its not like I chose the move and thats why I beat the man, its cuz i got lucky and randomly got a move that worked. What the heck is that? This removes any skill from dribbling. Plus the animations seem to go on forever...you have very little control of the player. To me this fifa "freestyle" is a big gimic. While the game IS better than the horrific fifa 2002, many of you seem to be thinking this game is the best or something and forgetting the numerous flaws the game has like the dribbling system and the crappy AI.
