Honestly, I don't know why people make these "I'm leaving" threads...the truth is many people come and go on these forums and are quickly forgotten about... You might get a few 'sympathy' replies from people saying they're sad to see you go etc because that's the polite thing to do or something, but in fact I'd bet anything they don't actually give a sh!t...any why would they.

I think that this is a good forum, except some mods really overreact about things that they personally dont like but dont go against any rules.. specially Grassy it seems he calm down a bit, but a couple of weeks ago he was going psycho mode..

Personally, my first reactions was "who da h*ll is he / who cares", and the truth is I really don't care if this person leaves the forum. The reason he's doing it is what's my main concern.

It's probably people like you who made the incredible people at socceraccess think about leaving the schene. This is also message to the other mods to get together and have a thinker.

A forum like this should be for everyone who likes footie games to enjoy.
This means that it should be made a pleasant stay for everyone.
Flaming/Insulting for no reason, posting 3 times the same thread or asking simple stuff that has been asked so many times shouldn't be allowed.
It makes reading the forum chaotic because of the many threads and annoying.

Of course some people complain when you're strict but that's their problem. You should teach them what's right and what's not.
Not the other way around. Don't lower yourself to their level. In the end it will be better for the entire forum and that's what matters.

Maybe I don't know you well enough but as a mod you will be judged by individual actions, one bad reaction and you lose your respect from others.
You mods give people yellow cards or warnings or whatever based on one single post.
Why shouldn't it be the other way around?

Because someday there's going to be someone who you or another mod punished for making fun of someone and they might point to your one action where you did it too.

You mods influence the way people here behave, whether you like it or not.

Maybe this is an idea:

Make a (sticky thread with no replies possible) FAQ on top of the forum with the guidelines and rules of the forum, what's done and whats not. Of course answers to simple FAQuestions are there too.

If you can make newcomers read it before they can post or something you can always refer to that if they complain about rules or break them. If they continue after the warning, just ban them and you'll keep the forum clean of people who cause trouble.

It would make the forum much cleaner and easier to read for everyone who comes here to discuss football games.
Believe me, it'll work.

Another example:

I see you pointing out, to a guy who posts a thread about Holland not being in the game, that he should use the search before posting.

I think you do a good job there.

If you put in the FAQ that people should use the search first and see if they can find the answer or confirmation there before opening a new thread, it'd make things a lot easier.

You could close/remove his topic after pointing him to the FAQ and keep the forum tidy.
If you check the forum maybe once or twice a day you have to go way back to find your threads sometimes because people post the same stuff time and time again.
People still get their answers and you can still find your thread from yesterday.
