Has anyone in EA heard of passive offside?
It's so anoying to play a simple pass through the middle to the closest player and the ref/game signs an offside position.
Why is it common in every Fifa game that computer goes mad in the period of 50th-60th minute of play. They start attacking like mad and they speed up all of a sudden for about 40%. It should be more random at least.
Another thing. I hope that someone at EA will take a look at our remarks and wishes from this forum. If they could take into consideration at least 50% of them they would have a perfect game. Otherwise this forum has absolutely no point.
The FIFA2000 game is very good but it still has many basical things to improve.
I tried to contact them. No answer to my remarks. They answered to me promptly two months ago when I asked them when the game would come out. Now, nothing. It just has no point. I'm steping down.

One of the other things that is wrong with the offsides is that many times have I scored a goal and offsides is called because a player not invovled with the play was in an offside postion. Although I guess that would take a lot to have the ref know the difference.
Anyway I don't know about during a single game but it was not until about April (the month I am in now for league) that the game goes crazy all the time taking my players out left and right and the ref calls nothing. I know it has be something because it was no where this bad through the other half of the season.
Also I don't think EA looks at this forum, but this forum is good for something, for we get to state our opinion to others and it helps get the anger out as well as talk with those who agree and disagree.
The computer teams AI must actually stand for artifial ignorance! This would explain a lot of these points.

Fedeline ,
it doesn't matter if a player isn't involved in a play, offside is offside.Even if you take a 30 yd shot and he's on the wing fo cross
An offside player is just that,
an offside player.
Mabye you follow the MLS which have different rules (i know nothing about MLS so i'm assuming)

I feel I must reply to Fat Bhoy Tim. I'm sorry, sir, but you are quite wrong. To quote from the 1999/2000 FIFA Laws of the Game: "It is not an offense in itself to be in an offside position. . .A player in an offside position is only penalized if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by: interfering with play, or interfering with an opponent, or gaining an advantage by being in that position."
A player may be in an offside position without being penalized--that is passive offside.
I am a US Soccer Federation Referee of over 13 years, and, just so you know, MLS does use the same Laws of the Game as the rest of the world. It's only differences are in tiebreaking procedures and timing of the match (which will change next year).

Well even worse than this is when offsides is being called when the ball never passes the last defender. I've had offsides called when I head the ball out of my own box, because a striker was offsides. Never mind that there were 6 opposition players and 4 of my midfielders between the ball and the offsides player...
Bugs like this really make me wonder how much football EA folks watch.
Thank you BradleyTCO. It's just what I was trying to say but in exact words. FatBoy Tim was absolutely 100% wrong. I understand that it is quite difficult to make a game with a passive offside as the 'artificial inteligence' signs any ball passed forward when the player is offside, but, this is a reasonable remark. Passive offside!!!!!!!!

It can't be that difficult, since I thought the Fifa 99 ref was pretty accurate in his
offside decisions.
Cheers,
King Kenny.
First ball from a goalie to the closest player should never ever be an offside. But it happens, oh, yes it does and it's just too annoying.
