View Full Version : lasting injuries in season mode?

Do any of you guys remember the season mode in sensible world of soccer?
It was great. Whenever a player was injured chances were that he would be injuried several months. Most of the times, however, he was injured for a few games only. Nevertheless this feature made it necessary for you to have top notch players on the bench as well. And you almost never played with the same starting line up. For you who have the full version have EA implented anything similar to this? Or is it like it have always been with Fifa? in other words the player misses one game, and one game only regardless of the injury.
If not, is it in anyway possible that any one with programming skills could make a feature like this?
The last question might seem stupid...but if you don´t ask you´ll never know. :-)

I had Roy Keane out for 3 matches... But that has been the longest injury i have seen. I hope that there are more and longer injuries in the game.

Well, in SWOS, I most of all hated those "black injuries", which meant the player is out for the rest of the season...can you imagine playing whole season without Beckham or Zidane? It's difficult, but the game become much more realistic and what's more - ENTERTAINING. If you want to play all the time with the same line-up, just play friendlies. If you want lots of joy - play season mode. That was about SWOS...and I hope this will be included in Fifa2003 too...it would be GREAT. Or at least some 4/5 match injuries, not only one like before...

Lo all...

Janne, to answer your question.. I am currently playing my first season, with Barcelona.. I've had injuries for Saviola, Xavi and Andersson... oh and one for JJ Okocha too(bought him from bolton wanderers).

Saviola's and Andersson's injuries both lasted 2 games.. Xavi was out for 1, but Kluivert has been injured for 6 matches now.

when a player is actually injured, does he run slow?? in the demo, they ran the same, all that was different was the logo above their head!!

are the injuries alot random now, i mean they not all ankle injuries, etc like in 2002!??

Lo all..

Breamster, to answer your question: Yes, players run slower when they are injured, they kinda walk like gangsters if you ask me.. but you can easily see they're injured. Of course, they also have a red cross indicated above their heads.

Tomthegod, the game really is a lot of fun... i can't stop playing it. The thing I enjoy most is that every match feels different.. you can really notice the difference between defensive teams and offensive teams. Also, every game is pretty close. If you want some info or anything, ask away.. (I won't make any screenshots though).

Hasta la vista baby

You don't have to tell me that it is great, I can't stop playing the demo  ...anyway, more info would be nice. Can you tell me Czech republic line-up please? I know it is difficult without screenshots, but i would be tooo glad if you could do this for me. Second question - transfers in season mode - are they as simple as they were in previous Fifa games? Thanks for help.

Could you tell me if the MLS season mode has a Cup competition in addition to the MLS Cup?

Many thanks.

Lo again...

Tom, giving you a line-up without screenshots is pretty difficult.. if you give me an email addy i'll make a screenshot, and send it to you..

as for the 2nd question... yes, transfers are still like kidnapping the players.. you just take em and thats it. Don't think the computer does any transfering, but that's also nothing new.

cwhein, i'll check in a sec... brb.

great so you are answering questions
i have a couple of them

1. Are there ingame movies like the captains shaking hands with each other and refrees at the start of a match?
2. Is there a handball foul ?
3. Like fifa2002 does the computer suggest a possible subsitution if a player gets injured ?
4. There seems to be a major improvement graphic wise but have they done anything with the ball ?

Janne

So Kluivert has been out for six games? lol That´s gotta hurt...even for a line up like Barcelona´s.
Please tell me how many games it took for him to finally get back. I hope for your sake he´s coming back this season. :-)
And for all of you that doesn´t know Swos....that was the soccer game of all times. It ´was easy to learn, but hard to master. In other words....every game meant war. There were no easy wins. Even after several years of playing it. And how cool was it not to be offered the chance of becoming a national team coach after doing a great job with some club?
Man, I hope EA are looking at the SWOS season mode.

Lo all!

Sorry it took me so long, but I had to watch J.A.G. it's part of my daily routine :)

cwhein, I just checked for your question, and it is my sad duty to inform you that there is no cup competition for the MLS. I triple checked, but maybe I still overlooked it or something. Prolly not though.

Dhruv:

1. I don't recall seeing any hand shaking, might be in there.. but there are definately cinematics at the start, half-time, and ending of the game. 1 thing that bothers me is that there aren't any substitution cinematics. Oh well...

2. No handball foul, or at least not to my knowledge..

3. No the computer doesnt, and i think thats a good thing. I do my own subbing!

4. well.. the ball physics look good to me.. it bounces and rolls and flies quite realistically... and it looks nice and shiny too!

Tom, terribly sorry for not handling your request yet.. i'll get right on it... watch your mailbox.

And finally, Janne: Kluivert finally came back to the squad after 7(!) games... he even scored the winning goal in my 2-1 win over Deportivo!
I did lose a couple of games while he was injured.. i play with a

cool 4-1-2-1-2 formation (sounds complicated doesnt it) basically its a 4-4-2 with an attacking and defending central midfielder. Kluivert is my attacking midfielder.. but i just replaced him with riquelme while he was injured.. And I bought Souleymane Camara from AS Monaco to fill in the offensive gap! You gotta love those Senegalese players :)

By the way, Janne, seeing how you are so carried away with SWOS... i'll tell ya, fifa isnt as easy as it used to be.. I have had quite a few draws and losses since i started my season.. I did barely make it through round 1 of the Champion's League.. but I only have 1 lousy point after 2 games.. I hope i get through round 2 aswell!
But, maybe these results are just the result of me playing like ****. Maybe i am just not skilled enough.. and I did play a couple of games after having a couple of drinks.. the whiskey type :)

AAAAAANYway...

Any more questions? bring 'em on!

Buh? bye.

Few questions...

1. are the camera angles different each time a replay of a missed shot is shown?? in the demo it was the same one, half the time u couldnt really see hoe near the ball actually was to the goal!!

2. wot type of injuries are they getting? are they diff every time?? not like 2002 i hope ??

3. does collina or any other ref, take control of your spanish league games?? i hope not!!

cheers

"Maybe i am just not skilled enough.. and I did play a couple of games after having a couple of drinks.. the whiskey type" Hahaha Never mix whiskey with...eh..anything really. lol

I like your insights about the game. The other ones with the full version just post a lot of pictures...I mean...who cares about that **** anyway?

And, yes, I can tell by the demo alone that EA has done a more challenging job this year. And I love that the players are more injured now!

Questions:
1. Do you have the PC version?
2. Which difficulty level are yuo playing at?

I have also noticed that you are from Rotterdam (home of Feyeenyord and Johan Elmander, who by the way is on a loan to Djurgården. he´s doing a quite good job here) in Holland. And it just sucks that Holland is not in the game! Monstrous.

Hello again!

I don't think I'll get any replies, since it's a Champion's League night (hooray!).. but here it goes.

Dhruv: No Problem, m8 ;)

Breamster:

1. No different cam angles I think.. it's just the same one where you can't see blablabla... what you said ;) BUT let's not forget the replay function.. you can watch your shot from every angle yourself in there. But trust me, most of the time your shots look a lot better if you cant see how far off they actually were :)

2. Injuries aren't different EVERY time.. but that's pretty normal, knee injuries are more common then upper lip injuries for instance. But I recall having an ankle and a knee injury.. might have seen a calve too.. and thigh

3. No, it's a blond/brown haired fag. I hate him. Never seems to be on my side.

Janne:

Thank you for the kind words..

About the picture posting people, or ppp's as we call them in the industry :crazyboy: , I think pictures are good too.. especially if you can't read and stuff.

To answer your questions: I've got the PC version, and I play it at Professional level.. don't laugh at me!

Oh and about Elmander... I think it sucks that Feyenoord loaned him out to Djurgården! I mean, Feyenoord doesn't have a lot of good attackers, and Elmander is really nice to look at (no i'm not gay).. I mean his ballhandling.. he's got nice touch.. reminds me a bit of Bergkamp.

All right kai...I won´t laugh at you beacuse you play at the professional level...I do that myself.

However another thing you said...I´m telling you it was the laugh of the month! LOL
This is what you wrote:
"..and Elmander is really nice to look at (no I´m not gay) I mean his ballhandling. he´s got nice touch.
Hahaha Just think about those words... Hilarious!

On a serious note. Do you think that depending on the type of injury the higher risk it is that your player will be out for a longer time? I mean a "serious knee injury" should be worse than some kind of "strained calf" or something.
This is anyway the case in the EA NHL games.

/Cheers

Lo again...

Janne, I agree the whole sentence does look kind of weird.. BALLhandling can be something else then what i meant of course.. so does touch.. eww.

About the serious stuff.. well I haven't seen enough injuries in the game to give you an honest answer about that.. however I can tell you that my 7 game-lasting injury was a serious knee injury. So maybe it's like NHL now...
