I know I am a little bit behind, but I just watched some of the Liverpool and Tottenham game and had to admit that I was again very impressed with Gerrard's range of passing. Now, even as a United fan I rate Gerrard very highly and was wondering who was a better passer of the ball Beckham or Gerrard. We all now that "Golden Balls" is the "best crosser" in the world, but Gerrard can hit some too and some lovely 40+ yard balls. Which is better, and who else ranks up there with these two?

Beckham is better.

Gerrard does indeed hit some magnificent cross field balls (that 50 yard outside-of-the-foot pass at Highbury last year for a Riise breakaway was one of the best passes I have ever seen), however, at this stage in his career for every brilliant crossfield ball Stevie G will try 3 or 4 similar balls that won't be as good. His strengths right now are tough tackling, good awareness, shooting, he's good in the air, he has good passing range and hopefully with time his decision making will get better. He's only 22 so there's a long time to improve and I'd say he's already bloody good right now.

Beckham is Beckham - consistently one of the best long passers in the world, not to mention his crossing, free kicks etc.

I'd say that Beckham is a better passer of the ball than Gerrard, but Gerrard is extremly good at it too. It's a shame that Gerrard isn't a lefty then England would have a threat from both wings.

Gerrard is indeed a great passer of the ball with great vision. But Bex does have a bit of a lead over him. But Gerrard playing in the middle does put some good/sneaky through balls up to Owen, Heskey, etc. But Bex is the best at crossing.

Beckham at the moment, but Gerrard is quite a bit younger and could be better in the future

yes.. i agreed with neutral that beckham is a better crosser and passer... gerrard still need a few more years to improve on his play but i think gerrard is a better all around player...
