View Full Version : Fifa 2003 - GOOD Framerate, BUT Jerkiness !?
mehuc4 01-11-2002, 01:46:AM Hi...
I have AMD XP 1600+ @ 2200+ , 512DDR 2100 @ 314mhz RAM,
GeForce 4 4200 @ 305/555.
OK... problem is: If I run Fraps 1.9 (fraps.com) program which measure FPS in the game, I have about 70-100 FPS in the middle of gameplay in Fifa 2003. (not demo)!
OK.. so, FPS is fine, but the game is still choppy!!!
I mean... some kind of JERKINESS! On my machine Fifa 2k3 should run like butter! :)
Something like that was in GTA3.
When I turn Frame Limiter: OFF, the game began jerkiness...
OK.. solution is to use a program 3D-Analyze 1.5 and check Force Sw TnL. It works perfect.
Does anyone know hot to fix that problem in Fifa 2003?
em.. ok... It's not only in Fifa 2003, so.. in 2001, 2002 etc., too. But in 2003 is more markedly.
It has to be a way to fix that 'jerkiness' (probably with some programs or tweaking tool or tricks...)!
Thank you very much for help & answers.
Sorry for language :)
Bye,
DeLuX
tckab123 01-11-2002, 08:02:AM Try the following
open the soccer.ini
after VSNYC_MODE = 0
add this line (in capital letter):
RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1
also try using triple buffering by editing vsnyc mode to 3
pele4483 01-11-2002, 09:14:AM I have AMD Athlon 1.33ghz, 650mb ram, Geforce 4 TI 4600
I added the RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1, but now the game is in Slow Motion!!!
I also have the jerkiness and i added the Triple Buffer feature, but when RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1, the game is in Slow Motion!
Can you please help!
brunnoce 01-11-2002, 09:24:AM i have the same problem...
by the way, waht this vsnyc and where i chenge it?
pele4483 01-11-2002, 09:30:AM VSYNC is to add Triple Buffer. You can add it in the soccer.ini file.
jim_barca 01-11-2002, 11:12:AM Same problem here.... I did what Chris Tse told us about the VSNYC and I added RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1 as well, but the game runs in slow motion to me too .:(
Please someone help !!!
sebazve 01-11-2002, 01:03:PM same problem here:kader:
Vindaloo 01-11-2002, 01:37:PM Wow Chris thanks for that!
I made the changes as you suggested
after VSNYC_MODE = 3
RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1
and now my game runs SUPER SMOOTHLY, must be 60 frames per sec easily at 1280x1024. Before I made the changes I had the jerkiness too, at 800x600.
I cant believe how much different this makes the game feel. Why did EA leave this option out?! Maybe its because it needs a fast system to work but surely we should have been given the option? I have an Athlon 2200 with a Geforce 4400.
Thanks again Chris :) Its almost like you've just bought me a shiny new Xbox for me to play fifa on :)

pele4483 01-11-2002, 02:41:PM Vindaloo,
Glad to hear yours is working awesome!
I have Athlon 1.33ghz, 650 ram, and Geforce 4 TI 4600.
When i put on RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1, it is in slow motion.
Do you have any advice?
Vindaloo 01-11-2002, 02:58:PM I dont why that has happened sorry, your PC seems fast enough. Thats probably the reason that the option isnt available to choose from the menu, because it doesnt work on all PC's. Maybe if you were to lower the detail setting to medium when you use RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1, if you prefer smooth rather than pretty.....
On a slightly different note, Ive just been playing about with the data\cmn\cfg_def.ini and made some changes :-
I had a problem where the player's hairdo's were disappearing etc whilst on the pitch, especially on the longer distance cameras ie if you run Zidane away from the camera then sometimes he goes completely bald :) This was caused by the game reverting to low quality graphics for players who are in the distance. The following values seem to have fixed that problem (will require a fast pc)
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_HIGH_NEAR = -1.0
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_HIGH_FAR = 0.4
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_MED_NEAR = 0.7
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_MED_FAR = 0.15
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_LOW_NEAR = 0.2
PLAYERHEAD_LOD_LOW_FAR = 0.0

tckab123 02-11-2002, 02:26:AM Hi everyone,
It seems that the remedy only works for some people (may be winXP) only. When I played fifa2003 on another computer (win98, P4 1.6g, 256Mram, geforce 2 mx 64Mram), I also got the slow motion problem after adding RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1 . I lower the detail level to medium (with 800x600) and I get smoother gameplay - the slow motion is less obvious now.
Chris
Vindaloo 02-11-2002, 02:35:AM That may explain it as I am on Win2000, although a Geforce 2 mx is showing its age thesedays. A Geforce 4400 has roughly 4x the graphics power at 1024x768. Another reason maybe that I play the game on Slow setting anyhow, maybe the change is more obvious if you are playing on Normal or Fast
Vindaloo
pele4483 02-11-2002, 03:11:AM Unfortunatly, the game play speed (Slow, Normal, Fast, Fastest) does not make a differnce what so ever. The game is still in slow motion.
I even went into the AI.BIG file and changed the game speed from 50 to 200, but that made no difference.
If anyone can fix this problem, please help those who have the slow motion problem and post advice!
Thanks
SadBloke 02-11-2002, 03:50:AM Easy - remove that godawful line from your INI file.
Your problem is your system.
The jerkiness you recieved is most likely to be from the fact your system can't handle FIFA, or at least; as well as you expect it to.
Adding that line to the INI will only logically serve to make problems worse by giving your computer a much harder time - hence the slow down! Your forcing it to render every frame, so obviously it's going to be in slow motion (your computer can't churn them out fast enough :D )
Your only option is to go back remove this line, and try FIFA in the lowest resolutions, 16bit colour mode and with the detail on low. If you still get this jerkiness I'd play around with some system settings, try out a few tweak guides etc.
I doubt theres some all powerful FIFA 2003 setting you can just switch on that will fix this "problem".
pele4483 02-11-2002, 05:48:AM I just tried FRAPS 1.9 for the Fifa 2003 demo, and i am getting 40 fps. 40!!! 40!!! 40!!! On an Athlon 1.33ghz, 650ram, Geforce 4 ti 4600, and Win 98, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!
Someone, please help me why i am getting 40 FPS on Fifa 2003.
In my AI.ini i have:
1024x768x32
RENDER_QUALITY = 2
VSYNC_MODE = 3
Please, there has got to be a problem here.
Thanks,
tckab123 02-11-2002, 08:45:AM I think win98 users should follow SadBloke's advice to see if you can settle the problem with a lower resolution and detail level. But as I've just said, the "slow motion" after adding that line is less obvious if you reduce the detail level to medium (you can leave you resolution to 800x600 or even 1024x768).
Hope this can help.
Luis_tsu 03-11-2002, 06:09:PM I also have the slow motion problem although I'm on an WINXP Pentium 4 1.6Ghz with a mobility Radeon 7500
Anyone please find a solution for this!!!!
