For all ya, this is only my opinion so don't dis me if u thing one is better then other. I know much about football/i hate the word soccer/ so it shouldn't be far from reality.
Even I'm from Czech republic I'know our legue isn't good for top 10. /maybe I said this becouse Sparta Prague only make draw against Girondiens Bordoux at home 0-0 and I'm very dissapointed by it./

No no no no!
Turkish league is not number 1!
You're dreaming pal!
I'm Russian but I am not putting Russian league on the first place just becouse I want so.
Dimon 20-09-1999, 08:42:PM Hey, HagiGuy!
I will tell ya something!
All good Turkish teams are because of foreigners!
Hagi, Taffarel, and others!
Russian clubs are good because of RUSSIANS playing there!
WE have very little amount of Brazilians, Nigerians and others!
P.S
Turkish league is not #1, OK?
REAL ratings are the ratings listed by Milano AC.
Milano AC 21-09-1999, 06:48:AM Excusa to ALL turkisch fans, I forget to put their legue in my list, Besiktas, Istambulspor, Galatasaray, Trabzonspor...all good teams, and because I like legue with many quality teams, I put it on rank 10.
HagiRulez 21-09-1999, 02:15:PM i know, but the foreigners you named all play at Galatasaray. Hagi is still very good! but we know he's old and will retire in a couple of years. The real stars are our youth!
i was just pissed off that Turkey wasnt in that league!
i also think the italian league is number one
but Turkey definetly belongs in the top 10
Galatasaray bought Taffarel and Hagi for their experience in European Tournaments.
Now GS are competing for the third consecutive time. i dont think we need them anymore.
Once more Galatasaray isn't build on Hagi!
ITs just that he's 34 years old and he still scores the most wonderful goals and shows off every match! If you guys havent seen Hagi much you really are missing a wonderful footieplayer!
lukec 21-09-1999, 02:49:PM Slovene league is better than some other (Croatia, Ukraine, Hungary,...) You know all Croats play in foregin teams and only old players play in Croatia!
Eredivisie 24-09-1999, 07:31:PM This is my rating of the European Leagues
I don't only take the big clubs of every country in account but also the smaller clubs from the league.
Very big Leagues
1 Italian Serie A (technically and mentally very strong, )
2 Spanish Primera Division ( Also very technic , also very harsh)
3 French Premiere Division (Fast and Atletic)
4 German Bundesliga(Very difficult to beat, mentally strong)
5 English Premiership (Great players but they make to many mistakes at the back)
Big Leagues
6 Russian Premier Division (Tough to beat, very good discipline)
7 Dutch Eredivisie(Tactically Strong, The smaller clubs are stronger then everybody things, No English people, they are not of the level of scottish clubs as Hearts or Motherwell they are certainly better.)
8 Greece Premier Division
9 Turkish Premier Division
10 Portuguese Premier Division
Overaverage Leagues
11 Austrian Premier Division
12 Swiss Premier Division
13 Norwegian Premier Division
14 Czech Premier Division
15 Belgian Eerste Klasse
I wish EA listened to your voice.
You have your opinion about leagues base on some facts.
Everybody know that EA SPORT used to pic their leagues without reasons (Italian, English, France, Spain..... You don't have to a soccer specialist to pic them) but everybody remember Malasian league. I don't know somebody playing it (by myself I used to rename it to Russian second division, East zone). It was uselles.
I think EA sports should make a real reseach for the leagues. If they have a contract with FIFA, so they should ask specialists from there for the help. Ussually people in america (home-place of EA SPORTS) don't know much about real soccer and all things about it. Otherwise the game could make everyone happy, but it seams many people would sink that EA SPORTS just ignoges their suggestions.
How come whenever the topic of the turkish league comes up all people think about is taffarel, hagi, and galatasaray???
there are plenty of other great players in turkey besides taffarel & hagi
ex:
sukur
moldovan
uche
popescu
dimas
oulare
preko
ohen
amokachi
mosheau
and plenty more
AC Milano 25-09-1999, 10:02:AM hey utfp, Inter Milano or Barca have on their roster better players then theese you mentioned and they're picked from whole Turkisch Legue.
Koeke 25-12-1999, 12:24:AM He guys, I know Belgium isn't as good as it used to be but we had bad luck this year. Anderlecht really deserved better against Rome and Genk deserved better against Maribor. And Brugge!!! It was unbelievable.
But I'm sure we'll do better next year. Anderlecht has got a very good team this year with players like Koller, Radzinski, Zetterberg, Scifo,... We'll see.
P.S. I think the Spanish league is the best. They bring the best football!
AJAX supporter 25-12-1999, 04:16:AM I like all the leagues shown on Canal +, like Italian,Enlgish,Spanish,German,Dutch, and French, and some Scottish and Porteguesse, but the Swiss league really sux.
Russian Rocket 25-12-1999, 11:59:AM mmmm.....

4. Germany
5. Turkey
6. Portugal
7. France
8. Holland
9. Scotland
10. Greece
I think considered this season's performances till now my top 10 is the most realistic. And Red Devil, the others DO count. If you'd see how the games are you'd freak about how exciting they are! All teams are class!
Woody_007 25-12-1999, 07:00:PM ITALY?? ENGLAND??? RANKED AS NUMBER ONE?? Where are the Czech Republic, Holland and Spain?? England barely gets into EURO 2000 and Italy gets beat at home by Denmark and Belgium and they are number one?? BIASED!!

5. Sweeden
6. France

I know that overall Italy has better skilled players than England but English football is by far the most enjoyable, fans don't riot, the stadiums are all seater, the football flows better and it is better to watch.
Russian Rocket 26-12-1999, 12:34:AM You all didn't include Russian League in the top 10th. Y? Well, we just sucked this season in Euro Cups, but we are still on the 7th place.
Just look:
CSKA Moscow beat Barca in two games in 1991.
Spartak Moscow was in UEFA Cup Semifinal in 1993. They didn't go through because of the ref; he really was for Antwerpen.
Rotor Volgograd beat Manchester United in the uefa cup by penalties. (i don't remember what year --5 or six years ago) they tied 1-1 in Manchester.
Spartak Moscow won ALL 6 games in their Champions' League Group in 1995. They beat Blackburn (English Champions) two times, Rossenburg (Norwegian Champions) two times and Legia Warsaw (Polish champion) also two times.
Loko Moscow was in the Cup of the Winners' Cup semifinals in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
Spartak Moscow was in UEFA Cup semifinal in 1998. They beat Sion and Ajax on the way.
Also, they were in Champions' League group of death two years ago with Real Madrid (Champions' League winner before) and Inter Milano (UEFA Cup winner the same year Real was Chmapions' League winner). They beat Real at home.
So, I don't remember Turkish, Croatian, Greek and Portuguese teams doing that great
My list:

GOONERBHOY 26-12-1999, 01:01:AM Right these are the best leagues!
1]The English Premiership
2]The Scottish Premiership
a distant 3rd the English 1st Division.
These may be considered, if you like a pantamine.
3]The Italian Serie a (a bit boring)
4]The Spanish Premira (full of diving fackers)
Brittish Football.......Real Football!
J.Karlsson 26-12-1999, 06:21:AM I saw some of you had the Swedish league on 10th place...obviously you haven't seen any games from Sweden. I am from Sweden, but our top division is really not good. Look at AIK - Swedish champions in 1998, but what did they perform in the Champions League?? We used to have one good team - IFK Göteborg (UEFA cup winners in 1982 and 1987, semi final in the 1985-86 European Cup, quarter final in the 1994-95 CL). But their time seem to be over, so now we don't have any really good team.
PolishPower 26-12-1999, 07:59:AM All of this is just speculation, go by the real UEFA ranking its the only ranking that counts. In the last UEFA ranking England is 6th and Russia is 12.
By the way from how the season is going so far it looks like Spain could be moving up to number 2, ahead of Germany but still behind Italy.
GOONERBHOY - Now you see that your statement that much guys think England Premier is the best, is not right...
You want it, but the rest of the world don't.
1) Italy
2) Spain
3) England
4) France
5) Germany
ps: Ireland produce more great players then Brazil... that's a joke for a week! Tks! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Russian Rocket 27-12-1999, 12:23:AM 2PolishPower
where did you get those ratings?
PolishPower 27-12-1999, 04:05:AM Those were the UEFA ratings from June 99 which were used to determine how many teams each country gets to enter in European cups. This rating takes into consideration the performance in past 5 years. I do not have the list of how many points each league collected so far this season. Here is the top 20(if you want to know where your country is let me know):
1.Italy
2.Germany
3.Spain

Sella 27-12-1999, 07:34:PM This is to a rocket from Russia:
I'm so happy to see someone put Israel in here!
Hey, we beat Ajax and Besiktas last summer, and we're rated about 19 by Fifa, don't we deserve a spot?
Yaay Israel! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Yaaay!
HagiRulez 27-12-1999, 07:38:PM Ajax and BEsiktas stink!
we as in israel or in hapoel haifa?
PolishPower 28-12-1999, 04:24:AM Israel is 27 in UEFA ranking, one behind Scotland...
GOONERBHOY 28-12-1999, 04:41:AM How on earth did france get spot#4 and i find it strange that England is all the way back at 6.
However as a big fan of the SPL i don`t care where were ranked all i ask is for one more champions league spot.
We only get 1 champions league spot and 2 uefa cup spots.
GS1905 28-12-1999, 10:00:AM I am turkish, but I don´t think that the turkish premier division belongs to the Top5,like some of you noticed. In Turkey there is only one team ,which can compete with the best teams of Europe and that team is only Galatasaray.
It is the same in Ukraine, where Dynamo Kiew
is the only good team.
Furthermore the turkish league is boring, because at the end of nearly every season of the past 10 years,Galatasaray,Fenerbahce,Besiktas and Trabzonspor were on the rank 1 to 4.
But this year,it can be different, because Denizlispor and Gaziantepspor are quite good.
Fenerbahce has got good foreigners but they were not integrated into the team so good. This is the reason why they did bad in the first half of the season.
And Besiktas?
They have only some good turkish players but they bought this year only silly foreigners.
Trabzonspor is nearly the same. They have many young players in their roster, but they don´t have enough experience.
And some of you noticed the Greek league in a better position than the turkish.
But i would notice it in the other way around.Of course ,last year Olympiakos played in the quarter finals, but I am sure that they can´t beat Galatasaray.
Bye
GS1905 - I am not talking about the quality of teams, but about the fun.
How much diferent is the Turkish league and most of Europe leagues?
Spain only 6 great games (Real, Barcelona nd every year a diferente third team)
Scottish - 2 Games (Rangers vs Celtic)
German - Dortmund, B Munich
England - Manchester, Liverpool, Arsenal.
...
Only in Italy you have more then 4 team fighting for the tittle.
Kewell the Jewell 28-12-1999, 05:23:PM Lord.......You say England- Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool....
WHat about Leeds???
What about Sunderland??
Dont talk about things you dont know.....
Neo_9 28-12-1999, 09:34:PM The real TOP 5
1. Italy
2. England
3. Spain
4. Germany
5. France
35...Sweden ( I know cuz I live here and this shouldn't be allowed to be called football )
Can't say so much about the other leagues...
( Wouldn't it be fun if all computers in the world would crash when we enter the year 2000...no..don't think so...)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Pahan 28-12-1999, 09:47:PM Nahhhh!
PolishPower:
Russia is 7th and only Checzh Republic can pass through only if they would win 5 games in Eurocups in spring. They have two teams left in Eurocups, so they have pretty good chance of passing by Russian League. I don't even know where you got these ratings.
Gobby 28-12-1999, 10:39:PM Why don't you all shut up, and wait for Euro 2000, then we'll see whose league has the best influence on the national team--And it definately won't be TURKEY???!!!! or Poland.
[This message has been edited by Gobby (edited 12-28-1999).]
Stefan 28-12-1999, 10:48:PM very difficult, cause Italy, Spain and England are 3 very good leagues
I would say:
Italy 100%
Spain 98%
England 97,5%
Germany 90%
France 89%
Turkey 80%
Portugal 75%
(...)
Namaglup 28-12-1999, 11:09:PM 1. Italy
2. Spain
3. England
4. France
5. Germany
6. Holland
7. Turkey (they will be soon in the top 5)
8. Belgium
9. Portugal
10.Greece
For me these are the leagues with the most popular teams, and where the good players want to play. look
The other nations are only trying to sell their good players and making money.
For example: Yugoslavia. If they wouldn't sell all their players, they would be in the top 10, I think.
Leagues like Croatia, Russia, Checzh. Rep., Ukraine or Scotland defintely not belong to the top 10.
and the others: Switzerland, Israel, Sweden, Norway and.. they don't know what football (soccer) is.
GOONERBHOY 28-12-1999, 11:46:PM Lord,
I do agree that Italy is the only nation with at least four serious title contenders. But i also believe that England only really have Arsenal and Manu seriously fighting for the title but their are many teams up there: Leeds, Liverpool, Sunderland, Chelsea and Westham and all of those teams would do well in europe.
As for the SPL we have 4 meets between the Glasgow giants(who both diserve a CL spot)and Hearts would do well in the uefa cup.
Last 10 years Champions at English Championship:
Manchester - 5
Arsenal - 2
Blackburn - 1
Leeds - 1
Liverpool - 1
5 champions, but Manchester with 50%. Not as bad as Spain, but not too competitive.
I am not saying it is not good, just want to discuss this point of English (and most Europe leagues) that I think is their worst point.
Jewell read my post again...
ManUDevil 29-12-1999, 03:44:AM Here is my top leagues:
1.) England
2.) Italy
3.) Spain
All the other leagues don't even contend with these leagues.
PolishPower 29-12-1999, 05:26:AM Pahan-
how is Russia 7th if Portugal is currently 7th and have a team still playing in the Champions League?
Also can you tell what list are you looking at? this years current list? They determine European cup spots are based on most recent 5 seasons, not just the most recent one, im sure you know that.
The list Im looking at is the UEFA list that was published in June 99.
Gooner Scotland has to get up to number 15 on the list to get a shot at two spots in champions league.
Sella 29-12-1999, 06:49:AM Just a little somethin...
Israel's top teams have been making steady progress in Europe in the past few years, once in a while making a surprise win over respectable teams. Not only this year's Hapoel Haifa, but Maccabi Haifa, for example, who beat Parma and Paris St. Germaine (I forget when - just 2 or 3 years ago) and climbed to quarter-final Cup Holders' Cup or something. Not bad for a tiny club from a tiny country.
Is there a(n official) ranking for leagues? I think Israel should be higher than 27th there... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
