I didn't think so, but listen to this!!
Britain has won MORE Olympic gold medals in football than any other nation. About 100 years ago we dominated the event.
But now I don't even know if we have a team! Have we ever qualified in recent years?

They failed to qualify for the Olympics.
The only player from Newcastle on the squad is Carl Cort.

I read in 1992 that only countries which were registered with Fifa were allowed to enter the Olympics. As there is no British team with FIFA (only Scotland + England) we can't enter.
i think if England had an plympic team..that will give more chance to new younger players to play at a high level and prove their worth..just like nigeria and brazil and italy, i don't know why they don't participate?

Shearer- Britain has not won more gold medals than anyone else! 2 gold medals for them right? but then Uruguay and Hungary also have 2 gold medals? Anyway I know on the www.fifa.com site if you click competitions and select Sydney 2000 you can get the history of all the olympic tournaments there.
Also the fact that UK had a team up to 1960 puts lie to the arguement that they could never have a UK team now because Scottish hate the English, etc.
Also I think the reason there is no UK team is that the Euro U-21 championship is the qualifying tournament for Europe. Even if England finished in a spot good enough to qualify, they still could not go to the Olympics.
