Hey all, a little help if you wouldn't mind!

I've spent hours looking through this forum for the solution to my problem but the best I've been able to find is "update your drivers and directx", well that hasn't helped me yet.

The problem is with the ATI Radeon 9700 not being detected as a direct3d hardware accelerator and Fifa 2003 refusing to launch as a result and displaying the message "Fifa 2003 needs hardware graphics acceleration to run".

I'm using the latest drivers from guru3d.com which are the 7.78 CATALYSTs, driver version 6.13.10.6193 and currently I'm using directx 8.1 as included on the game CD. I've also tried 8.1b and the beta 8.2 directplay drivers but neither helped.

I'm running Windows XP too.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I've no idea where to turn to now!

The last time I checked the system specs in it's web page, the radeon 9700 was not supported, if I remember correctly there was a list where only the 7700 and below were supported (maybe a future patch).

I'm playing on a Rad9700 and it's perfectly stable and smooth. Try completely uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling the drivers as they are very finicky. Also, check your motherboard drivers are up to date - you don't say what mobo you have, but if you have a Via based one, Via Arena (http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2) is the handiest place to download the latest.

Thanks for the help.

I read the Radeon 9700 was actually a recommended card for use with Fifa 2003!

My mobo is Intel P4 and I think the drivers are up to date, I'll check that though and also do the full reinstall. Can I ask which drivers you're using please, Quboid?
