Ok, I've tried to play with my friend in the Direct IP mode, and we couldn't. When I tried to open a game, I clicked on Host and got the "Wating for other players.." window, and nothing happened. And when I tried to connect to his computer, I've got the "Establishing connection.." window, and still, nothing happened.

And for the details. I got P4 1.8, 256 ddr, G-force 4 Ti 4200 128mb. He got P4 1.8 256 ddr, G-force 3 Ti200.
We both don't use any firewall or any security program, so this can't be the problem.

So what could be the problem ?
We're so frustrated.. :(

Thanks in advance.

dude, i dont know what can be the problem , i have been playing by ip for two weeks now and with no problems. Are you waiting long enough when the connection establish window appear.?? Sometimes i have had to wait even for a minute.

are either of you behind a dsl router, or behind a NAT (not a firewall) and haven't enabled the port forwarding.

from the EA manual it says it uses ports 2048 UDP and 2048 TCP.

Hmm.. I've waited for about 5 minutes, even more.. I believe it's more then enough..

And I'm not very familiar with the technical sid of my connection, I just know I have a dsl with a 0.5mb cap, and my friend got a cable modem at the same speed, so, that's all I know.
But some people I know who got the same dsl ISP succeed on playing it..

So, some other advices maybe ?
I don't know, I'm lost out of hope.. :(

The guy with the cable should be fine.

Do you have a CISCO router for your DSL connection? Call your ISP and ask if you are behind a NAT, then if they say yes.. ask how you can open up port 2048 UDP and port 2048 TCP to your computer.
