View Full Version : ITALY GETS SCREWED!!!!
::shinji:: 02-07-2000, 09:16:PM That 4 minutes of extra time was just intended to give France a chance to score, this yet again proves that UEFA favours the "champions" France! Desailly elbows Canavarro in the face...no call,Trezuguet kicks Toldo in the face, no card...4 mins of extra time...for what????
The French should be ashamed of themselves.
Canoe 02-07-2000, 09:27:PM It's true, in fact, I heard that the ref would've just allowed play to go on until France equalised irrespective of how long.
Take the red pill, or the blue one, just take some and wake up to the real world. The french won, Desailly was probably only getting some revenge from when Canavaro elbowed Dugarry( useless little french bugger this ), trezeguet had every right to challenge for the ball, 4 mins of extra time ? Hell, that's long, I've never in my life seen that amount of time added !
The only persons who should be ashamed of themselves is yourself and del zero for wasting two clearcut chances to win it.
Kostas 7 02-07-2000, 09:29:PM Sorry guys but thats all bull. The kick wasn't intentional either.
Woody_007 02-07-2000, 09:40:PM Kill4 ..... that is a really stupid assumption. How many times did I see Italian players pulling at French jerseys?? How many times did French players get hacked and elbowed throughout the game. France only started playing more physically after Italy started diving. And this was one of the best refereed games of the tournament. Frisk did a fantastic job.
"I think Dino Zoff must be ruing the substitution that brought on Del Piero. Two fantastic chances that a teenager could have scored, yet he failed too." Graham Leggat, TSN. The first time he has said something that I agree with.
HOW MANY TIME HAVE I WRITTEN ON THIS FORUM THAT DEL PIERO SUCKS!! HE A WASTE OF HUMAN GENETICS! OVER-HYPED AND OVER PAID, HE DESERVES TO DIE!! MY SIX YEAR OLD COUSIN HAS SCORED ON HARDER CHANCES THAN THAT, AND HE COULD HAVE PUT THAT SHOT IN! AND DEL PIERO GETS PAID HOW MUCH??? HE SUCKS!! HE IS THE CRAPPIEST STRIKER IN THE WORLD!! ITALY HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT HIM!! NOT THE REF! NOT THE FRENCH!! NOT DINO ZOFF!! ONLY DEL PIERO!!
Damn .... I love it when I am right.
::shinji:: 02-07-2000, 09:42:PM Sarcasm is the lowest form of humour, try again. 4 minutes of extra time isn't unusual, but there was nothing that happened in the second half to justify that much time added. Oh, and getting some revenge is ok now, is it?
Neo_9 02-07-2000, 09:47:PM No,he never kicked at him,a thought that he held back his foot..but that is, what I usually say; MY opinion.
The reason Italy didn't win was:
1. Del Piero should have scored on, at least, one of his two great chances...
2.Italy have NO midfield..
..ha, two subs go in and takes it home for France, well only to see if Trezeguet(spell..) will score goals like that in Juve..
..well maybe not so hard with that kind of poor defending..
And another thing, was it Cannavaro that missed his header that it ended up perfect for Wiltord?

Zambrotta 02-07-2000, 10:03:PM The 4 minutes extra time are o.k.
What's NOT o.k. is Desailly: this guy did enough to earn him a red and 2 yellow cards, but well, he ain't Italian.
Next thing Del Piero, should not have been here, he is the reason we lost. Sucker scores 1 goal out of play in the last season, has 2 100% chances, misses both. What's left to say.
I say thank you to all the other azzurri, especially to Toldo, Cannavaro e Nesta. I say thanx to Totti, showing how good he is when playing in his role. Thank you Delvecchio, you're a real striker, not a fake like Inzaghi.
Italy: U21-European Champions, Runners up here, beaten at the 94th and 102nd, wouldn't really have thought so before the tourney.
If France won 2-1 BEFORE the supplementary minutes, no prob for me. Loosing this way hurts.
Last words: NO MORE ITALY FOR INZAGHI AND DEL PIERO. GO VIERI, DELVECCHIO AND TOTTI!!!!
Woody_007 02-07-2000, 10:42:PM No Kill4 .... revenge is never ok. It is for people who have no belief or nothing in their hearts. I never mentioned revenge in my post either. What I said .... is that Italy, with the shirt tugging and the diving and elbowing, raised the physical intensity of the game. The French were being outplayed, and they simply raised their physical play to match the Italians. The Italians started complaining and crying. Trezuget had every right to go for that ball. Golden Goal, finals of the EURO CUP, you never know what might happen. You raise your play, because the stakes are at their highest. That is what France did. The cheap shots where there on both sides, but you chose to ignore the Italians and their shirt tugging and Viera being pulled down in the box and Henry being mugged everytime he got the ball. That is what I meant. And had Del Piero not shown exactly how much he is worth when it counts (HE SUCKS, HE IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER HIS NEW CONTRACT IS PRINTED ON) then Italy would have won the title. But ... he booted it (pardon the pun) .... so now everyone tries to find someone to blame (the ref, the French, etc) .... blame Italy. They scored and they laid back for 35 minutes and it cost them. Del Piero .... cost them. Do not blame the ref. If Italy had pushed for two, the last four minutes would have been a formality, not hell.
::shinji:: 02-07-2000, 11:21:PM sorry Woody, I was responding to Canoe. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
PolishPower 03-07-2000, 01:24:AM 4 minutes were ok because the teams made the max substitutions, I thought it would be 3 minutes but hey live with it.
I don't really blame Del Piere so much yes he did badly on the first break-away, but on the 2nd one Barthez made great save. But do you think Totti wished he passed to the right and Delveccio, instead to the left to Del Piero? I think so.
Oh and Toldo sad to say but he could have saved that ball if he had just a bit more luck he saved a much harder shot(the one that was ruled off-side anyway) maybe 5 minutes ealier.
It was a great game, but I feel sorry for the Italians.
Canoe 03-07-2000, 06:10:AM Come on Kill4benfica, you start a topic, Italy gets screwed, you go on about uefa favouring France blah blah blah, and you expect a serious non sarcastic response ?
This is not x-files, there's no conspiracy, the desailly challenge was not seen, as happens many a times with off the ball incidents, the added time was justified, just think of the time for all the substitutes to come on, trezeguet challenged for the ball which he had the right to do so. The only conspiracy you might consider is that Del Piero was being paid by the french, then again, maybe he does just plain suck
::shinji:: 03-07-2000, 02:37:PM Well....can't argue with you about the Del Piero thing, I've always thought he was way overrated, so are a lot of players though. It's amazing how media hype can make a superstar out of a very average player.
sglean 03-07-2000, 03:21:PM Lay off
Del Piero the first chance some strikers would have got it some wouldn't he'd been on the pitch for how long?
Barthez make a great save on the second chance.
The goal was all his fault he sat on his line, idiot.
If Italy should be upset with anyone and I personally don't think they should. It would be Totti, Totti did not bother to come onside. consequently Barthez took the freekick which set up the goal, Idiot he should never have done that especially as Italy had possession at the time, stupid stupid. They could have killed the clock right there the french had only two men back.
Del Peiro got himself into good positions and ofcourse he feels bad and the Italian press will be all over him but he is still one of the best in the world and he was nowhere near 100% for this tournament.
If France had lost Zidane would be getting it in the ass right now, by his standards he had a poor game in fact thats really what football is all about.
Italy had their best game and lost France played their worst and won.
if italy had won the tournament all of u would be praising delpiero and inzaghi for their goals and performances.
instead of showing ur support to ur country's hero's who gave it all what they've got just to make u lazy bums happy and proud, u guys turn out to be the first ones to criticise them!
not even a thank you word was said to the italian players for their world class performances (defensively mostly! )... once the players feel the ppl's support they'll deliver in the upcoming championships, but when they know that everybody's gonna turn against them once they flop then they wouldn't care because nobody's giving them credit...
don't destroy delpiero and all the talents uv got because of ur anger, after all u can't win them all, but u may win some one day!
FORZA AZZURI!
Daniel 04-07-2000, 09:17:AM France won, and there's nothing Italy can do about it.
How could Toldo not save Witord's shot?, how did Nesta let Pires's cross go through his legs?
All goes to show that France were much better, they wouldn't make stupid mistakes like that.
And some word of advice, leave Del Piero at home for the next World Cup, there's nothing hard about that.
